By evicting those who didn't pay their rent, it frees up the apartment for new tenants...

Let's be for real. The people not paying rent are single parents with young kids. They don't pay rent, they don't keep up the property, and they simply don't care when somebody finally calls them out on their BS, while claiming to be the victim.

They can actually shut the entire market down I noticed a building that took 15 years to get back up running.

Remember a lady who lost her section 8 after they smashed the sliding door and couldn't afford to fix it, it was like $300 and the rent was supposed to be $35 a month. These are not the kind of people you want in your building

The reason for that is quite obvious that private landlords take care of business and the government housing authorities do not, which is why so many housing projects were torn down within forty years of being built. Both are dealing with the same problem tenants, and allowing problems tenants causing good tenant to move making room for more problem tenants.😮

Private management actually enforces the rules. Nycha really didn't enforced the rules. This was the reason there is so many problems. Such as. Having to do the same kind of repairs over and over again. Such as repairing an apartment door that a person breaks dozens of times a month. Or heck gang and drug activities. Nycha doesn't enforces the rules for much of these. Guess what private management does. Cause this keeps things like expenses and insurance costs down. Which is how private management gets to make a profit. Cause the land and property is still owned by nycha. Dealing with everything else is on private management.

There is no security at the building they manage, in fact the private managers do not do the proper maintenance. Thos is visible in the top code violations list and the city records.

Lead paint in new construction was banned by NYC in 1960! According to the article NYCHA "needs" $78 billion to remediate lead and fix heating ( among other things) in its thousands of apartment buildings. Has anyone bothered to do the cost per unit math on that? It's more cost-effective to demolish these over-65 year old trashed buildings and rebuild. Otherwise it's a waste of time and ( mostly taxpayer) money.
@kimgoode159120 күн бұрын
First off while you're "trashing" these buildings where are the tenants supposed to go? Also, you don't think taxpayers live in public housing? Y'all just be saying anything

We may be seeing more of this, as DOGE starts up on with the new Administration. In efforts to reduce government wasteful spending, more services may be turned over to the private sector, who, unlike the government, have an incentive of fiscal responsibility.

In private business, they always bring in someone(new CEO) to cut the fat. Bad tenants are the fat. Poor pay hx , and criminal behavior, does not promote successful rentals. People that don't pay their bills, should never be given a second chance.

Tony if you follow the downfall of NYC due to the intentional far left actions and laws of the former and current politicians letting career criminals some who have arrested well over 100 times to just continue to roam free like hyenas it's easy to see why anything NYC officials touch quickly turns to XXXX! Don't you think it's ODD that when a building owned by the city, they don't seem to enforce the same stringent and nonsense rules as private owners who need to jump through hoops to get approved then within a year its totally trashed while the animal tenants live there for free with any evictions only a dream for landlords!
@Chris-ji8jw22 күн бұрын
Good Tony. Those hypocritical tenants would get mad, if someone stole from them!! They are THIEVES, if they do mot come back and honor (discharge) their debts, with Federal Reserve Notes, EVEN if they get evicted. If they have a $6,000 dollar debt, they should, still pay $33.73, or whatever, a month, whatever they can afford, without going hungry/homeless, until they fully pay it back. Bad things happen to people sometimes, for whatever reasons. Even if the Landlord did not accept that; they would still be rltrying to remain in honor.Maintain your honor!!!

Lol, this is comical. Public housing evicts tenants left and right what are you even talking about. So basically kick out struggling working tenants . Section 8 recipients pay a portion of the rent. A very large percentage of Public housing tenants work and pay taxes why do y'all think they don't.

Face the facts, the private management has inadequate security, the do poor repairs if any, and they constructively evict tenants, the records prove it there is a website that lists all code violations. This is a breech of contract.
