It warmed my heart when the family did well together and the kids got the notepads and the son got the father a chocolate bar for not losing his temper. Lovely to see a family taking steps to turn around a toxic pattern.

@@superdupersnowflake As a 30 yr teacher and a mother of two, none of these parents know how to use their own behavior to teach their kids. They are so inconsistent, negative, loud, out of control, and focused on the negative that it’s no wonder that their kids are crazy and unhappy. They ignore their kids until they do something bad! If people screamed at me all day and night, I wouldn’t want to behave, either! Children mimic their parents’ behaviors. Behavior modification and calm, consistent parenting work. I have taught so many kids like these, and when you build them up instead of always tearing them down, it works wonders. They should be using all their resources…there are so many excellent parenting books, videos, etc. Pediatricians give excellent advice, as do counselors and teachers.

It was really sweet when Rys and his sister got gifts for their stars, and when Rys gave his dad a "good dad" gift. The mom in this family is my favourite parent, she takes her time explaining things to the kids.

Absolutely agree... it was heartwarming, and the mom was very patient and very good at coaxing everyone along with the changes! I was worried about Simon - the Dad, but he REALLY turned it around. What an outstanding difference it must have made in their family life. Also, I think anyone willing to do this on television is incredibly brave!

Accusing Aaron of driving a wedge between his parents was a major mistake on the part of the father. I think his intentions were good but he doesn't understand proper boundaries between parents and children. The relationship between a husband and wife is their responsibility and a fundamentally adult issue. It is inappropriate and dangerous to involve children in adult problems.

Super D. Duper in addition, in a round about way its tUrning control over to the child. So now when the child gets angry he kNows he can break up their relationship . The kids probably thinkiNg “wow, I’ve got a lot of power and control” I also don’t believe that a parent should cry in front of their child if the child is the one causing you to cry. Again, it give a tremendous amount of power to the child. Now, of course you can cry in front of the child if it’s for other reasons.

Tracey just has to change... She's very rough woman at the moment. She is lucky to have a husband and children like this, but she's doing everything to spoil it all.. I don't think she realises that. It is actually her that needs intervention, because it is obvious that she grew up in a very tough environment and that has made up her behaviour patterns. But one thing I can praise, that she is trying to change and is willing to take advice that will make her life better and relationships more loving. But someone needs to work with her.

My heart sank when Gary blamed Aaron for him and Tracey arguing...no matter how naughty or challenging your child is, that is damaging and hurtful. If Gary and Tracey ever divorce (which is pretty likely), this kid's going to grow up thinking it's all his fault. 😥 The problem with the Wall family isn't poor discipline; it's a toxic environment. Aaron is acting up because the sheer aggression from his parents is simply rubbing off on him. He is clearly an angry, unhappy little boy. No discipline method is going to improve the kid's behaviour unless the atmosphere in the house changes and his parents set him a good example (i.e you can't expect a child to stop swearing if his mum continues to swear at him all the time)

He shouldn’t blame that boy for troubles btwn him & his wife, but that wife is just awful, both to her own son & to her husband. I always try to remember something a 103 old women told me: it starts out w you & your husband, & then you have some kids, but if you do it right, when those kids are gone, it’ll just be you & your husband alone again. No, it wouldn't. Putting him in therapy might help, and having her see a therapist at the same time -- that would really help. Adjusting his meds would definitely benefit him, because it seems it's been awhile. Getting her some support from family, friends, community, or really ANYwhere would most assuredly be an enormous step in the right direction. And this situation is all too common. Kids who are medicated by the doctor who initially diagnosed them, then never sees them again. Its just the system is set up more for adults, rather than kids, and the kids are the ones who fall through the cracks.

Poor Angus, his mom just won't shut up. When she calms and thinks, she gets better. If she could just be consistently less excitable, they both would be happier. Yelling at children to calm down does not work. Time out is not time for yelling. Tracy is disgusting hitting and yelling.
@MegCazalet
@MegCazalet 11 ай бұрын
Exactly. Like they’ll suddenly go “Oh, you’re right, I really should calm down. I’ll do that straight away.” She should start by calming down herself, not shouting for her son to. He doesn’t know how to do that. All she does is whine. Perhaps she needs to be less verbal about her misery with him and put it in a journal, kept private instead of a constant narration to Angus of how awful HER life is.

Aaron loves his daddy. I don’t think he thinks much of his mother, and to be perfectly frank....I don’t either. She is horrible. I’ve met tweens with more self control than she has. She shouldn’t have children.

How can Angus be expected to sleep with that blazing light and the TV in his room. It seems like kids ran completely wild when it became fashionable to “spare the rod”. These parents have been driven to the brink of madness.

Most of these parents should've never had children. It's so clear as to where all their behavioural problems come from and the teaching is no different to any other parenting course. Supernanny would've sorted everything out in two weeks

Tracy is a nightmare, the poor kids don't stand a chance at least Gary is trying to make positive changes. She needs to treat all her kids equally. And for goodness sake everyone stop shouting and swearing in front of and AT your kids. They are reflecting your behaviour. Just ridiculous.

Sigh… it would have been better if the clinical psychologist just visited Aaron's family without any prior notice (otherwise I believe Tracey might feign herself being a vulnerable victim thanks to her real thought of the father having favouritism over Aaron only). Just a thought, really, as this was documented, perhaps, nearly a decade ago.

Glad the father was judged on his behavior! So sad, if parents can't behave, how can you expect the kids to behave? Glad to see some of the families having fun! Parents arguing is not helping! That was moving that everyone got a gift for good behaviour! Grow up Parents!

All of these children have been overindulged, TV in rooms, packed full of toys, no order, no control, messy overall environments! Parenting is love and support but also discipline and order! To an extent i cant even blame the parents, they probably weren’t parented properly themselves!

That one got me, too. When my kids moved from 5-point harness to booster, it was with the caveat "If you can't yet stay buckled, we bring the baby seat back. We'll try again when you're older." Safety isn't negotiable.

I live in Texas. I took care of a friend’ s kids for a week and she told me her son refused to wear a car seat. No problem. I told the 4 kids to get in the car and we’d do get ice cream. All got in and he wouldn’t buckle. I told everyone to get out and I told them why. He buckled up. I never had to ask again. And neither did his mom. The end.
