I am so glad they are sharing personal experience and showing this is real. I am 33 and have suffered from severe OCD since before kindergarten age 5. I am in therapy now and it does help but I wish there was a real cure or a real way to treat it. The intrusive thoughts are still awful and I still struggle. I still have days I can't even leave my house because it is so bad. Thank these people for sharing.

I'm currently 20 an over a year ago my ocd had amplified an I notice there's something with me an learning about ocd I can notice really far back of me doing ocd things I still do today that I was doing an had no idea it was ocd. I'm not diagnosed but I'm pretty positive I have ocd an honestly been wondering if I have aspergers too an probably ptsd. Sorry for my long rant I have really no one in real life to talk about this with an my social life is so low that it is so easy for no one to ever know these things about me unless they see me on the down low doing a compulsion. Shalom too you sister God bless you. I know the stuff sucks.

I understand all of this I remember my OCD starting at 10 it gets very frustrating at an early age to try to explain to a doctor how I was feeling and what I was going through. I tried to hide it so much then it got to a point where it was effecting my social life. I went through therapy and medicine to help. It got a little better ,but I still face rituals that get agrivating. Thank you for this documentary because some people don't understand OCD.

I had bad ocd in my teens, I’m 34 now. I got over it by just not doing the rituals anymore and you’ll see that nothing bad happens and when you realize that little by little you get better until it’s completely gone. As tough as it is not to do the ritual you just have to get through the anxiety part and you’ll realize that nothing bad will happen! Good luck to anyone that still has it, everything will be ok!

It's so strange for me, hearing about the intense anxiety surrounding things like not closing drawers. I'm the exact same way with doors - especially closet doors, bathroom doors, and bathroom shower curtains. I also get intense anxiety when I can see something moving out of the corner of my eye, like blinds or curtains being hit by air or a breeze. I literally have to look away from these things when they happen, because the panic is so intense. I've had ceiling fans taken out of rooms I've stayed it, because they cause me such anxiety. I also have weird things with numbers, which, in part, have caused a decades-long eating disorder that I am still entrenched in now. I've been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, insomnia, but never OCD. But I can totally relate to some of the things shared and spoken about in this series.
@ghostlykelp Жыл бұрын
I’m very similar. I have rituals about opening and closing doors, and I get very anxious about seeing things move out of the corner of my eye. I often hallucinate things moving and shadows etc which makes me very stressed - I also see a face peering around corners and doors which is very unnerving. Part of the stress of seeing shadows and things move is because of my extreme spider phobia (even typing the word makes me shudder!) because I think that there are spiders crawling around the room. I was diagnosed with autism and I know that ocd can come alongside that. Im not sure if I have ocd, or if my rituals and phobias are due to my autism. It sounds to me like you might be dealing with a similar set of anxieties to me? I think doing some research into ocd or asd might be interesting for you, not necessarily to diagnose yourself but maybe just to gain a better understanding of your brain or the way you think. It definitely helped me 🩵🩵

My # is 4 for things especially doing dishes. And organizing over and over. Omg! I thought I was the only one who skin picks! I didn't know it is ocd I thought it was my allergies because I itch alot. Definitely speaking to my doctor about this. Thank you
@MarieDominique13 жыл бұрын
Hi Mendi, just to mention dairy products are responsible for many people's allergies, it starts to become more known. Each time I'd take a big glass of milk in the evening, the next morning I'd sneeze repeatedly for 1 hr. When I eat dairies it also makes my skin itchy before acne comes out (I'm sensitive to vegan proteins too). I share because it took me 20 years to find out, no doctor ever told me; they would just prescribe medication... Hope this can help!

Around when I was a teen i had to wash the front and back of my hands for 10 seconds then my nails for 10 seconds and then between each finger 10 seconds, tap corners I walk by, knocking on the wall etc.. I still do I’m 26. My grandmother says she had it and that she stopped she was never even diagnosed and says I can grow out of it and stop which i personally don’t think is true. I think it can be helped and dimmed but not gone.

I have ocd and have since age 7. For 2 years now I have been working on a hypothesis that this is an addiction caused by the neuroplasticity of the brain at any age and should be treated as such. My question to those in this video and out there in the real world is if you have OCD, is there any other addiction you have or have had in the past? (Substance, gambling, video gaming, social media...etc). Your support and candidness is very much appreciated. BTW - it took me 3 hours to get through this video with constant rewind and playback, starting over and over again.... OCD took me over again..... Together we can find the solution to this problem.

Is it possible to just have a very mild case of OCD? or is it considered something different? I'll explain my personal situation in short.. as a kid I remember patting my legs in drull moments, like when I'd be sitting in the car, I'd tap my leg with one hand, not remembering if I was "leg drumming" or not, but I'd continue patting between my left and right legs feeling like I hadn't patted one enough, so I'd pat it, but if I felt like one leg had gotten more pats, I'd have to pat the other one. And this would go back and forth for maybe up to ten minutes. I also did this "uneven feeling" with a few other things too, no biggie really but I knew it was odd, yet had no control. It was a strong urge. Anyway, Grew out of it, but now as an adult I have other mild issues like.. I will spend more time washing dishes by hand as we don't have a dishwasher, and I feel like those get dishes so much cleaner so I hand clean until I get a dishwasher shine but, I over rinse due to fear of soapy dishes, and sometimes I do spend way too much time rinsing and scrubbing to make sure I get every single millimeter, front and back. I will not let someone do the dishes if I know they don't wash the whole dish. I'm the same way with many things, I tend to overdo it. But I am pretty sure it's not considered as the same thing as what these folks have. Just wondering if anyone knew.

I think it really comes down to how much this impacts your life. Has it stopped you from other things you wanted to do/have? Do you feel a lack of control? If its a problem in your life then go and talk to someone. If not, then I think its not really an issue....

I am wondering if anyone has ever tried Gabapentin for the intrusive thoughts. I have severe anxiety and depression for over 10 years and have medicated. I got shingles last summer in my ear and was given gabapentin for the severe pain in my jaw. I can't even begin to tell you the difference it made in the intrusive thoughts. After over 10 years of medicating with effexor and Wellbutrin without it ever really stopping. Not only did it stop, but I was productive, not sleeping from anxiety medication. One 300mg would work a whole day for me, the second day taking it was even better. I don't understand why it is not used more often for break through or to stop a chronic cycle giving the patient a chance to see it can be stopped.
