Received this little receiver via eBay recently. Works really well. I have some other shorter videos I will upload sometime that show it in operation on some other bands. Made in Japan by GRE from 1981 - 1983.

Thanks for the video. It's fun to travel back in time with some of these radios.

@capnrob97 Thank you. Congrats and enjoy your DX-200. They are nice little receivers when working correctly.

Thank you. Yes they do look similar to the Kenwood R300 but they are not as robust or as refined a radio as your R300. The DX-200's were manufactured by GRE in Japan and were made for a lower price point. They are neat little receivers and I truly enjoy mine. I've never owned a Kenwood R300 but I can imagine it is like a Rolls Royce compared to my Ford Pinto Realistic. 73's Paul

looks to be in great shape - I have one I bought in the 80s from Radio Shack. It has transisters breaking down so I try to not use it. I want to get someone to go through it so I can once more use it. I only get about hald of a meter band, the other part is dead throughout the spectrum.

Understandable. The DX-200 is an old school analogue hands on type receiver. 73's Paul

Well the other thing that made radio expendable was when i got the Sony ICF-2001. With digital read out of frequencies and the scanning features. It made it very easy to send reception reports. 2001 had a keypad. I sold at a ham fest.Thank you for commenting 262Naganradios.

I'm not sure what model Lafayette either. I know they had some transistor units later on and some of them might have been made by GRE.

Yes I still got the Realistic DX-200 but I dont use it any more due to drift. There must be some thing that can be done about that, I would have thought?

Sorry to hear you had some troubles with yours. The older GRE manufactured receivers like this are hit and miss. Some work great others have problems. Some of the problems are likely age but I wonder if GRE's quality control was a bit lacking back then. 73's Paul

Do you have aluminum foil tape on the inside of your radio? It helps on your noise problem. I use the tape on the drake r8 and it helps a lot.

i used to have a dx 200 but it used to drift of frequency a lot.

The Realistic DX-440 had a "frequency lock" switch that would guarantee that as soon as you activated it you couldn't change anything on the radio except volume, BFO, and the backlight. You couldn't even turn the power off when the frequency lock was in place.
