I had my DX-302 in Germany during reunification. It was fantastic to hear the German LW stations suddenly change their names. Wish it weren't cost-prohibitive to send you mine.

I bought a Sony ICF-6500 just about the same time you got this radio. The Sony was a really nice unit for a long while. I got a Bearcat DX-1000 after a couple of years and that was a sweet radio for 3 or 4 years until it died on me. Good luck finding one of those today!

I have such a high noise floor from the neighbor switching power supplies and grow lamps. The last two nights, our electric power was out from tornadic storm damages, so it was a dream tuning into a vast selection of normally unheard signals..the only problem was that my receiver displayed many signal overload flaws normally never seen when the neighbor interference is abounding. Still, it was nice to have a few days with overall listening delight. Thank goodness I had charged up a lot of the lithium cells before the storms came. Gilles, I can imagine the flaws you had, but you mainly enjoyed the outcome of listening anyways.

I, unfortunately, owned a DX-300 prior to getting a 302. The DX-300 had a number of issues: Poor sensitivity; stability issues on SSB; and no real bandwidth selection. (The supplied narrow/wide switch was just an audio filter.) The DX-302 fixed all of those issues. As the 300 replaced a Knight-kit "Star Roamer" it was still a tremendous step up.

Gilles I had the DX-300 and the main difference is the selection of Actual Bandwidth by a RF Filter and not just an audio filter, and some better audio. I'm pulling it out and going to use it. It replaced my Heathkit AR-3 which I finally was able to Receive Radio Australia when I used a Pre Selector I built. The DX-300 had A built in Pre Selector.

are you turning on the light in the 2200?…the original looks brightter …
