Bruh, after I watched this I went and searched fan original endings. I wanted to see what the people who disagreed came up with. And they suck. (Some are well drawn) the writing is like fan fiction 😂. The only good one was an epilogue and NOT a rewrite.

The ending is different from the manga, Armin and Eren's dialogue is also different, that's why people complain about the ending in the manga

I love the ending that its not happy nor bad but bittersweet. But it is far from perfect and still some things are poorly explained especially the whole mikasa ymir thing was out of nowhere and can be explained better tbh.

Been watching AOT since I was 13, first anime I've ever had the pleasure to watch and enjoy. 10 years later now, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. Yeah there's a LOT of talk about how some stuff is different to the manga, and how they wish it ended differently; but I think any true fan understands the messages that Isayama conveyed. Man like I'm 24 now and I've been BALLING my eyes like crazy watching this haha, whole episode was a action-packed tear-jerker front to back. Glad you guys joined the AOT journey, lets all be thankful to have watched this 🙏♥

Fun fact : 1. At this minute 23:30 , Eren and Mikasa spent 4 years living together (it was a gift to them from Ymir) 2. Eren didn't open his eyes during rumbling, he opened his eyes in his last breath just to see Mikasa. 3. Mikasa wrote, “Here forever rest peacefully, my most beloved, my dear. 854" on Eren's tombstone. 4. The Ackerman clan will take off the bandages when they do married/had children, when Mikasa died, it was shown that the bandage on her hand was still there. 5. In the hands of Mikasa's body when she died there were white flowers, they were white lilies, white lilies symbolize purity/dying as a virgin. 6. In the end credits where Eren and Mikasa are buried, an old man Armin still visits their graves, he is the last person to die of the three, just like when they were children running to the tree, he was the last one to reach the tree.

The ending is realistic and represent real life problems. The haters just too dumb. It's prolly been 2000 yrs after Eren's death and when in the future, paradis destroyed and left in ruins.

I think back to season 3. Erwin even said then that humans will always fight until there is one left. It’s just in our nature no matter how much we evolve. I found the ending impactful. The way this story was served together from beginning to end was incredible. The whole story has been pain and very relatable to real life in its themes. That’s what I saw here. So glad I started this journey and saw to the end.

Literal masterpiece. This isn’t a story about a hero. It’s about a normal ass boy who was hell bent on eradicating titans and his “enemies”. In the end he did what he wanted… give his folks a long life. Which we see he obtained for some hundreds or even thousands of years. BUT, as we humans do, we continue the cycle of war and hate. That is the overlying theme of AOT. They (Mainly Eren and Armin *as he said he shared the burden for showing eren about the possibility of the outside world*) partook in the killing of 80% OF HUMANITY. In no world is that justifiable because, hence in point, humans will continue to project hate and never see eye to eye. The tree at the end I believe is just symbolism that the cycle just repeats (not actual Titan power exists there anymore because they killed eren AND the life that Ymir created). Mikasa literally NEVER forgot eren nor stopped loving him. Even to death, she had the scarf around her. Lovers who never got to love in this cruel world. AOT stands on TOP forever and always. I'm not entirely sure about the tree at the very end because we never actually saw the "source of all living matter" get eliminated, just that it vanished. There's a chance it did form another tree that harbors Titan power, but ultimately it doesn't affect the overall narrative.

Which is why Jean, conny, and gabi and everyone else turned into a Titan turned back because the Titan pier is eradicated. But like you said, it doesn’t affect overall because it’s moreso about how humanity are the killers

Could be possible that the tree contains again that power, but not the power of titans, but the power to have what you desire, Ymir desired to survive when she entered the tree so immortality and titans were given to her by the bug, this boy is not trying to survive, is entering the tree out of curiosity, an unknown power probably to reanimate and take care of humanity will be given to him. Is not granted that this power will be used to do bad, but who knows, the song that ends says "What do you understand?" before the "The end" screen, so all of this and what follows is up to interpretation. What do we understand about our place in the world? Our nature? It will be the same or can we change it? Do we have to sacrifice ourselfs for the world or live a simple life collecting little positive experiences? Who knows, there's no right or wrong answer, there's no one big and great solution to end with everyone happy and all good right now, but you have to choose, so, What's the most important to you?

38:06 in the end what Ymir and Eren wanted doesn’t matter. How did Ymir get the power in the first place? Because (as I understand it) the most powerful form of “life” was found in that specific tree (that looks a whole lot like the paths) Who knows? Maybe the first ever (or maybe there were even more than that) Titan before Ymir was buried there and the only reason Ymir never got a tree was she wasn’t buried. King Fritz had her daughters eat her to spread the power and his will kept her a slave for those thousands of years in the coordinate. Maybe there was only ever meant to be one Titan at a time, only the founder. Idk the way I saw it was at the end it didn’t have anything to do with Eren or Ymir, that life form is down there and humans will use that power one of two ways….. Idk that’s one of my takes

This was the proper ending. Eren had to die, Isayama said himself, he always knew the main character arc was supposed to be from victim to aggressor, and the ending was going to be grim. Eren became the main villain at the end, he had to die. This was an anime for the ages, forever will be remembered like Evangelion I think.
