Nice tutorial, I do dnd edits for people and have just been using ink spread animation overlays. This is a nice tutorial for me to heighten that a bit, I'm not an after effects user but I think I know all the effects I can substitute to achieve this result

Thanks hopefully it is able to transition into other software - I think for the most part the distortion and blurs do the heavy lifting - good luck!

For the german AE users: In german it's called "Maske unterfüllen". There were no correct translations on the internet.

What a superb effect, who'd a thought the doubling up of the overlay layer would have such an impact - the man's a genius I tell ya' You have a new subscriber and a like (more of a luv really, but you get the drift...) KP

That's the best part about experimenting with layers and effects - every now and again the results are much cooler than expected! Thanks a lot!!

I'm sure it would do something... Not sure if the results would be as predictable or useful - but I'm sure it would be interesting!

How can we create a trail or constant path with this “ink effect”, would be nice if we can have a tutorial please, so we can create a narrative story with a camera traveling from point to point telling a story with this ink effect. Hope you realize what I mean. :(
@lazerslab2 жыл бұрын
I've tried this without luck. It would require real time affecting the point of ink origin. The effect I describe here though, affects the entire image all at once. You might want to look into the Mr.Mercury effect though, or particle systems, to get the effect you want. I know it can be done, it's just a lot more complicated than it seems. Probably better off trying it in a 3d workspace like blender.

My matte choker is not working at all. Is there something I may have switched off to make this happen?
@lazerslab3 жыл бұрын
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the tiny little "fx" box at the top left of the effect bar. I guess the other thing too, which might be a little obvious, but make sure the image you are working on has a proper alpha channel. If it is a jpg, tif, or png without alpha transparency, than the matte choker effect will only affect the edges of it's square shape (not the targeted central design)

LAZERS LAB found out I had a solid below my png. Daaa. Felt so stupid 🤪 thanks for the awesome tut!

hey, my only showing matte effect is mocha shape, do you have an idea why i dont see the choker?
@lazerslab3 жыл бұрын
I was unable to recreate the issue you mentioned - It's possible that some image formats might not support matte choker - So if you aren't using a transparent .png I would say try with that and see if the effect shows up.
