I've now retired and been looking around as to where to settle, can't afford Aus. I've booked a flight Jan 2025 and intend to come and stay in Sanur for at least a month. Any suggestions on location for a homestay/guesthouse walking distance to beach, cafes etc. Will be living off the Aus pension so need to keep a moderate budget. I've also made contact with an agent who has given me all the info re visas etc and will handle it all. I know that can be bit of a minefield with things changing a lot. Cheers Jan

Hi Richard. We’re in the uk and we really want to make the move. Ali is definitely one of the places we are thinking of. However, we’re self employed artists. We’re still a good few years from pension and doubt it’ll even exist in the next 15 years when we are about eligible 🙄. So we’ll be working. @@roamingRichard Thanks, I was wondering that but it was unclear. I may be wrong but the detail may be as important as the information you are kindly delivering. The health Insurance was a bit unclear too. For people retiring in Bali with age pension, the instance of heart conditions and associated age issues is important, therefore health insurance needs to be a little clearer. For example my understanding is that Australian Medicare ceases to be a benefit when living overseas. Even if you return to Australia for an operation may see you paying full price. Im not trying to be negative, because I believe it is great to retire in Bali. Maybe a suggestion would be to place a disclaimer in the comments section or as a slide in your video. Something like “ DISCLAIMER: For all matters in this video relating to “health, visas, home leases and any financial commentary is not advice. We highly recommend seeking professional advice on all matters mentioned in this video” I know this sounds a bit pragmatic but some people look for any excuse to get litigious. The last thing you need is to be hit with a legal nutcase.
