Hey my brother and sister in law didn’t want a religious ceremony and knew I had gotten ordained in college as a joke, and asked my to officiate. Practice is important but James has a point. Because I did great rehearsing, had a fake book and pasted their vows in it, did awesome. During the actual ceremony I pronounced her first name correctly (Gabrielle but goes by Gabby, just wanted the formal name for the occasion) until the pronunciation of husband and wife during which I pronounced her name in the male form not female. Turned bright red and told her afterwards I’m so glad she’s officially my sister now and can legally smack me (I have two brothers and can verify this is totally fine to do) but can’t unaffiliate with me as a person. She was very cool about it. But seriously, everything went right until THE LAST LINE. I blame practicing beforehand.
