To add to the port of Amsterdam clip; This footage was shot during an event that happens once every 5 years called SAIL where big and small ships from all over the world (but mainly the Netherlands) sail through Amsterdam. On a normal day through the year it'd never be this busy in the bay.

It’s the risk you take. You have to just be careful, I kayak constantly here in east Texas. I live off a very large lake with thousands of little off branches and slues. It gets sketchy out there, I’ve had gators bigger than the Kak go under and bump me. Not to mention the water moccasin that live in those low laying branches. You steer away from the gator and you meet the snake. And they’re meaner than the gators

For anyone wondering, what that teacher did was something called the “iodine clock reaction” To put it simply what happens is both cups have 2 different chemicals. When they mix they should turn that color when they mix, but one of the two chemicals (Vitamin C) is essentially occupying the other chemicals, keeping them from reacting with each other. Eventually, that chemical can no longer react and the two chemicals spontaneously react with eachother, turning the liquid black

I don't know if you could have gotten a result more opposite of what would be expected. The rod falls straight to the bottom, the rod makes it a few floors before air resistance pushes it to lean one way and it gets caught on some random floor, the rod shatters. Yep. I've got a "Mailman's Tattoo" Bit by a pity back in the 1980"s Thankfully, I have NO problem with this or any other breed of dog. It was the owners fault, not the doggos. He was trained to attack anybody that wasn't Latino. This wasn't a great neighborhood. He was on a leash AND behind a fence but still managed to jump halfway over a fence to get to my arm. Almost lost my right tricep because of it.

The reaction in the 2nd clip is actually pretty famous among chemistry teachers around the world. This is one version of the "Old Nassau reaction" and it is just based of kinetics and the concentration of the 2 or more chemicals added. Hope this helps all you aspiring chemistry nerds like me :)

For everyone wondering! That second clip is an iodine clock reaction. Basically it’s where you mix a starch and iodate solution together and they change colour very rapidly. High school students do this experiment and change the concentration of the iodate to observe reaction rate. It’s really quite cool.

Cool thing about the plant cells, the reason they’re still in little boxes is because the cells are actually ripping away from their cell walls, and it is not reversible. So, if you give your plant salt water, it cannot recover Edit: this is generalizing, there’s much more to this topic and plants can recover in some conditions, sorry for not being clear.

I'm pretty sure this is false, since I did a lab about osmosis earlier this spring where I saw just that happening. The cell wall in plant cells is just what makes the cell so good at dealing with different tonicities, so if you just remove it from the salt water and put it in normal water, it should puff up again

1:07 I know how does this happen , the reason why the cell shrink because the salt is having higher water concentration then that of cells water , so the water inside the cell exits and therefore cell shrinks due to osmosis (A process which an object obtains or loss water due to its concentration) . This process is non-other than hypertonic solution .
