I agree that Farnese is definitely a top tier character. At first I thought she was going to be the stereotypical unhinged and cold female character I've seen over and over in media. However, throughout Conviction until now she's grown and developed so much to the point that she could be the main character of another manga, and a good one at that.

The Egg of the Perfect World is probably the most important character in the entire manga, I think his actions are going to cause Griffiths downfall. Him choosing to eat the demon child and merging it with Griffith will cause his fall.

In that sense, Moonchild is indeed the most important character, in the sense that without him Casca and Guts would have died way before, and of course right now he is the key to defeating Griffith. For me the EGG and Ganishka fall to the same level as they are this very important characters that have pushed forward the story, and changed the world greatly. For instance, without Ganishka's invasion there would not have been the amount of death and sacrifices for the Egg to be born, in a certain sense, all comes to down to the influence of the Casuality, without the Casuality Ganishka would not have been born, the Midland kingdom would not have fell, and so the need of a Savior would not have been required and so, probably Femto would not have been able to be reborn.

Serpicos incredibly underrated imo and he often gets overlooked , despite being a character who more or less completed his journey.Serpicos origin is unbelievably sad and similar to Guts. Him knowing Farnese is the only last family he really has and not telling her so she can be free of shame and burden. Also him feeling no longer important to Farnese when Guts came into his life then to forgive him and become friends with him, spoke volumes of character, to me.

honestly tho, Adon is much more impactful to the entire story of Berserk than most. Without him Casca and Guts never fall off that cliff and gain a deeper understanding of each other that leads to them eventually falling in love.

I personally love the Idea of Evil - it was cherry on top after Eclipse. It seems more real than Humans, 'cause it gave powers to Griffith, even though it was created by humans. Although Idea of Evil is maybe too authoritarian, I view Berserk as exploration of Evil and Kentaro shows us how cunning this Evil can be!

Me personally, I think I would have Puck be in S tier. He was the one light to Guts during the Black Swordsman Arc and his sole light of humor and references is absolutely golden in some of the darkest times. Not only that, but Chestnut Puck is one of the most adorable, things in the entire manga. 0. Lord Shnoz!!!!! 1. Guts 2. Puck 3. Griffith 4. Casca 5. The Moonlight boy (I don't know something about him, brought an overwhelming sense of calmness and innocence to such a dark story) 6. Skull Knight 7. Zodd 8. Rosine 9. Morda (for obvious reasons) 10. Irvine ( I don't know something about this dude was just so cool)

Azans double headed club doesnt really have a name, its a mostly fictional weapon. Two sided weapons like that were never really used because there was never enough use to justify the extra weight. Hell, the other head counter balancing the side attacking might actually weaken the maces stopping power so all things considered its not the most practical weapon. (Especially its post conviction design). Points to Azan though for not just using it like a mace and treating it more like a bo-staff since thats definitely the best usage you could get out of that weapon.

You Know, of course we all Love Guts and Casca... But i think, for me at least, behind them is Serpico and Farnese, they are the second couple, like a mirror of the protagonists, they are harden in battle too, they pass a lot of trouble togheter, even before, since childhood. If it not for Serpico know in secret they are brothers, they would had have a romance too. They face the Darkness and monster by their own will. They rise up on the ranks of confidence, loyaltie to guts and his cause. They are truly Knights, even without an Order or Noble titles. I think thats it their character represent. That Knighthood is servitude for the good!

I disagree with your ranking of the king. I know he's a difficult character to rank because of his morally repugnant acts, but I think he's a well written character even though he's disgusting. I know you mentioned a lot of this is based off of how you feel about the characters which is fair, but I just wanted to say, If the King is ranked lower for his morals then the god hand should also be ranked lower respectively. That dream sequence that the king had right before he died was very well written IMO for a character we never thought would have any real narrative substance upon his first introduction. Just my opinion though.

My only gripe with the list and its a small one, is that farnisses mom is such a badass lol. I thought bottom of a-tier for sure. She shows up and yeah its just 1 chapter but she just acts like a total boss. She helps farnisse, basically calls magnifico an idiot, brags about probably sleeping with her own troops to her daughter and seems to understand her husband better than anyone else and calls him weak

Nina’s bottom A tier. I hated her so much , but a good character evokes that type of emotion. We see so many brave, violent characters who are familiar with battle and she represented a specific type of person you don’t see often in Berserk. A coward, only looking out for herself and for self preservation. She’s also not ignorant to her faults. Shes introspective about all her actions and hates herself for it. She even had enough self awareness to step away at the end or she’d risk resenting those she loved most.

Completely right. I didn't really hate her that much. Yes she acted like a bitch but I always put myself in her place. Her world was shattered as soon as she made a resolution. I like her character and the end of her arc leaving Luca. She is a coward, but a survivor

Honestly, the easiest way to end Berserk is to create Idea of Good - it's diametrically opposed to Evil and that would create Unity of Good and Evil in Berserk. Idea of Good would just give powers to Guts and crew!

Well the idea of evil mostly exists because it serves as an answer as to why bad things happen. And us humans never really question or need answers as to why good things happen. For example, if some stranger just pushed you down, and then a second stranger helps you up.
