It's a horrible way for these young people to start out married life - with their mothers pitted against each other in a "contest" where ONE of them will win the right to organize the wedding and the other becomes an "assistant". I realize that the couple gets their wedding for free by agreeing to be on this show, but not even to save money would I do something like this. Especially when it involves two cultures - other than the lengas and the henna, what was there of the Indian culture in this ceremony? And the way Crystalline's mother talked to Jin's mother when they shopped and looked for things was so disrespectful. I think instead of giving the "win" to one mother's entire vision, they should change the show to have each mother create a "vision" that involves both cultures, both religions, if there is more than one. The vision that captures the best of each culture and religion should be the one they go with, and both mothers be "winners", having similar amounts of say in what's chosen in the end.

As a British girl who is married to her handsome Indian Prince. We both embraced both cultures. It was fun. White wedding dress and all the beautiful colours of 3 Indian dresses. I gotta say it was fun. To this day I wear Indian wear to special occasions. My mother didn't come to my wedding but latter learned to love and respect my hubby. I stood my ground for the love of my life. I am blessed. Be you 💛 always.

It was pretty clear from the finished product she was more than fair. She picked the ceremony lengenga for pity’s sake. She just didn’t want everything Indian like the Grooms mother. It’s obvious given her daughter is half Indian (her mother was married to a Sikh 🤨) that she doesn’t have a problem with the culture. Stop trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. If the Groom’s mother won and chose all Indian like she wanted would you say the same about her?? Very much doubt it. People are always trying to play the racism card. It’s getting tiring.

Sorry, but the groom's mom was so difficult to deal with, definitely not a person I want to be around or give permission to plan my wedding. She clearly lost the competition, that means the bride clearly indicated that she wanted a white gown with a white theme, but she couldn't respect that and clearly did not know what being an assistant means. I was horrified by Kelly's entitled, spoilt,sulky, demanding childlike behaviour. I thought she was going to stamp her foot at the Bridal shop but she left instead. I blame some of it on anxiety and pressure to get it perfect but still she's got a whiny side to her that's not nice. Surinda was lovely, sure she came over as pushy in parts but keeping in mind its highly edited, she seemed nice to me. The wedding was perfect. Stunning bride and groom, happy. The mum's, happy together. I hope this marriage lasts. ❤️ I love to hear about 50th anniversary s. That level of commitment is something to strive for in marriage.

lol, actually it was the opposite, Surinda was horrible and disrespectful. The bride indicated that she wanted a white wedding and that's why she chose her mom, but Surinda had to bring in the drama and act like a B*. And I remember Surinda walked out of the church, because her 400 guests would not fit there. She clearly thought Kelly was her assistant and not the other way around, what a horrible and mean woman

Both lehengas were gorgeous. I’m glad Gina mentioned Kelly’s attitude because it was just not cool. Her daughter is half Sikh, why was she so upset that her daughter got mehndi done for her wedding? What part of your religion teaches you to be so intolerant of other cultures and religious traditions? Clearly her marriage to her daughters father couldn’t have survived if that’s the type of person she is. Surinder was very sweet and willing to compromise. Glad it all went well.

At the end she got what she wanted, 400 guests, the traditional dress, smh, what a mess.

Good God. What an AWFUL premise for a show! But one thing it does show: how we are so eager to compete rather than collaborate. Now imagine if both mothers thought of the other & merged ... both kids would be happy & the mothers would be too! Instead, we have a winner & a loser ... for their respective children's weddings! What on EARTH?!

the attitude of the bride's mother is making be cringe... Okay, this is an edit to my comment. I am a Believer, a Christian. I don't think that the bride's mother 1.) is an example of a true (true) Christian attitude, and 2.) Jesus had brown skin, was from a middle eastern culture, and [AND] would have LOVED THE COLOR in the wedding!!! Had to say that. I loathe when people act uppity and better than others. Then, they are all pious on Sunday. She's probably a nice woman, but she's acting ugly because she can. Poor.

Indian wedding dresses are not white because in Hindu religion, white is color of peace, so it's usually worn at the time of death. It's the dress color for widows traditionally. If you are a guest at wedding, you can wear White but brides do not wear White. White wedding dresses are common in Christian weddings though. Modern brides are also choosing all sort of pastel shades for their wedding dress but still no Hindu bride would choose a white color wedding dress for herself.
@prijak

Because white is the color a Hindu woman wears when her husband dies. It's considered a bad luck color for a wedding. During a funeral in India everyone wears white. So a white wedding looks like a funeral for Indians.
