Totally agree, the bride had no empathy or respects to her father in law to be, those wedding planners knew the groom respected his dads money, but took advantage of this, I felt so annoyed by their greed, egging the bride on with more & more ideas, to show off to guests the bride didn't even know, very shameful on the planners and spoilt bride, feel so sorry for the grooms future, poor gut

I have a question? Is the a dowery involved with the marriage? I know that arranged marriages with those requirements are still in place in some countries. Does this affect that cost of what is spent for the wedding, the reception, the traditions, and the gold ornaments, the professional makeup, hair, and all of the clothing and foods etc.? I am asking because I have known some Indian friends who came to America in order to not follow those traditions, as well as from other countries that still have arranged marriages. ( I know that this still happens in the USA, I am going by what the people I have become friends with over time.)

Their inlaws pay for her dresses while she pays for his chlothes. She pays for the first day, his family for the second. Trouble is: they are very different socially. She is the main earner and could easily afford the first day, so we only see that small instant when his chlothes did not suit him properly. Maybe he gained a bit around the waist. Everything else is only for the second day. Maybe she would have chipped in if asked politely, but I only hear the Groom complaining.

I’m not stating it’s disgusting because of their character, but rather it is disgusting because she was able to manipulate them. I don’t know if they’re still married… it would be interesting if they still were. In the end, I think the groom was a pushover. The repeated “take it to Poppa D, explain it to him, I know he will not refuse" pissed me off, she knew the old man was saving face so as not to appear poor to the public and she took advantage of it to push unnecessary excesses on his budget while keeping her family completely out of it. The wedding planners were just helping her push her agenda of making her father-in-law spend more. One of the major duties of the wedding planner is to help the couple marry their expectations with reality. I can promise you that the after the wedding drama with the In-laws will be ugly. Hope they last anyway!

She has a point though. She wants a nice wedding and the dad wants 8x the amount of attendees. They should compare what her preferences cost with 300 people (both sides inviting 150 each) vs 900. If the dad wants to invite soooo many people and she clearly doesn't want that, why should she dismiss her wedding vision because of people she doesn't want there? No wonder thats expensive! The only reason the parents are paying, and this is to typical, is because things are largely going to be exactly how they want it to be and they will guilt trip the couple into fulfilling the family's dreams of showing off instead of focusing on the couple getting married and their wishes.

If I was the bride, and I had envisioned a caliber of wedding for myself and my future spouse, and then here comes my in-laws adding nearly a THOUSAND people to our day, and dangling the money in our face but at the same time penny punching ME? I’d be furious. Not a single one of her ideas outspends the amount of money his family would be taking care of for the guests the imposed on the couple. Is all her behavior understandable? No I actually think she’s insufferable. But interesting how no one peeped that he essentially penny pinched her after the father in law said he’d pay to expand her vision to meet 1000 extra people. And how he never put his foot down on how many additional people would be there, never advocated for any compromise or a plan to get the needs met…. just essentially enforced that she should suck it up and have a tacky wedding outside of what she/they envisioned bc HIS family wanna invite randos.

That's how it happens in India. The wedding function is from the bride's side, where her side of the family invited the people they know. And the reception is from the groom's side and they invite their social circle. Indian culture is huge on family and community, so cousins and their families, friends, co workers etc. If someone is a part of social circle, they are invited . It's really different from what you guys have, it's a waste of money ya, but it is what it is. Consequently, we do go to go on way more weddings than you guys too

@@amolpreetkaur3443 well, I m just saying that the family should not complain about her choice of dress and its price tag when they go and spend money on invitations to their dentist, his wife and their secretary. It's equally as stupid. She has a point here - in particular since she seems westernized to the point where she finds the extend of the guest list bothersome. Obviously, the family did not consult her about the guest list. I am pretty sure not every Indian wedding is like this. Only those who can afford it/ or want to seem like they can afford it would celebrate like that. And I seem to remember the Indian government outlawed some of these practices because families were put under insane financial pressure just so they could marry their daughters off. Here, I would call this living beyond your means. Don't spent money you don't have. That 85,000 dollars would have been more than a nice down payment to a family home in Germany. It's absurd. As an Indian that deco was not even 20 percent as good as we do in India. I'll say they got RIPPED

the planners kept pushing the brides wants and ignoring the grooms & father’s budget… they just kept enabling her spending by introducing new pricy ideas

It sounds so childish for having a wedding at parent's money....and not being considerate...

I am conflicted. If each family had kept it at 150 or 200 people each, they would have spent way less since they would have needed a smaller venue. Less tables, less food and so on. She did sound spoiled but if there were less people, there would have been less conflict on this episode.

This bride is an appalling narcissist. If I was the groom I would have run from her as fast as possible!

This really irritated me to the core, that was soooo selfish. She's not even contributing anything to the wedding. never once hearing her mentioned her parents or her family.. her facial expressions alone, was like I don't care you just ask and get what I want.... Just disgusted me!!! Her behavior 😠 he was trying to be responsible...SMFH!!!

It's because they are talking about reception here. The wedding and engagement parties are from the bride's family and the reception is from the groom's family. The guest list is invited likewise.

They have two days. That show is about the second day, not the first one, her family or she is paying for.

I get that she was over the top, but if HIS family invited 700 people, shouldn’t they be willing to foot most of the bill???

She seems to be “in love” with the planning and the day of the event.. instead of “the vows” and realizing that marriage is a lifelong process instead of a flashy day. Also the wedding planners were COMPLETELY pushing the agenda with Suki via the spending of table decor
