As musician I really appreciate that the game focuses more on the rhythm aspect than technical skill. I really love rhythm games but I really was never proficient at them and can only play mostly slightly above average, Rhythm Doctor is a really nice change of pace.

Another good one is 1 2 1 2 1 2 3, it looks confusing when written down, but it's really nice as the "3" is very distinct from the rest of it and therefore easier to find the seventh (also remember to keep all the numbers the same length as there's all one beat)!

If you didn't know, this game is actually perfectly musically accurate, swing rhythm is precisely delaying second beat to the 3rd beat in a triplet rhythm. So when I pseudo-played it along to the video, I ghost-tap 1 2 then press button on the 3rd beat on a triplet rhythm. Hope this helps! :D

What you described only applies to 2:1 swing. There are different swing ratios
@nram3930
@nram3930 2 жыл бұрын
I mean, that's not really the whole story because true swing rhythm is tempo dependent. Slower (down) tempos inch closer to a 16th note feel and faster (up) tempo turn to basically even 8s. Even mid tempo is not supposed to be EXACTLY triplets, but its what electric performance default to.

21:03 - As someone who has suffered chronic attacks of real SVT (supraventricular tachycardia), I can attest that the level of the same name in this game properly reflects how it actually feels. Heart's pounding and shaking one's whole body palpably, at 140-180 BPM, and then it stops and goes back to normal rhythm, which at this point feels like the snail's pace reflected in RD's mechanic. It's so very well done! This level's also a pretty sweet homage to _Super Hexagon_ both in its visuals and in the Chipzel styling of the melody. The rhythms of the Stevensons are my favorite part of the game, and were actually the _easiest_ sort of beat for me to handle, though I can't say I've gone at it on hard mode yet.

Usually, a great way (and the way the final boss does it) when using 7/8 time is to split it into 4 beats and then 3, so like you would go 1, 2, 3, 4 - 1, 2, 3. I'm not too far in, but I will point out the massive respect I have for how difficult slower rhythm games can be, ones that force you to wait for inputs. You get so used to faster paced endurance fests that stepping back to games that make you slow down and count out beats and press like this can genuinely be a bit rough to swap back to, which only makes the challenge that much more satisfying in my mind. Seeing myself struggle on something that some would call easy, when I know I can do better and know why I'm struggling, only makes it all the better when I finally get my brain into the right gear. You see the same sort of struggle for some folks going from qwerty to another keyboard layout and back, the qwerty muscle memory being fuzzed out some from lack of use. It fascinates me and only pushes me to do better, and in turn, I feel a lot of respect when I see her struggle the same way I might, even though I know she's far better than I am, hah.

I feel like most one beat rhythm games like this could be easier for drummers because it goes off finding a beat and that’s exactly what drummers do like you said

Awesome and really fun game! I loved how it adds complexity by adding multiple rhythms (polyrhythm) together. Last part of last boss is kinda missleading, the rhythm feels more like a 6 rather than 7, that way I think is easier to handle.

I swear this game is like a cheap pawn shop find. You'd think it sucks and for it just be bland but, all of sudden it becomes a hell of a lot more entertaining than you'd think. 30:20 for example. Its insane programming too. Also, I'm very intimidated by the last boss and credits. Not used to all that and I will definitely lose stamina the longer that goes on.
