The aggressive “stan loona” marketing done by orbits helped to gain the girls a lot of recognition, though, which I think was the main point of it all. They’re from a smaller company and have a lot of members so they aren’t exactly easy to break into the market. The aggressive campaigning done by stans did them a lot of favors in that regard, though it did recruit a higher ratio of toxic individuals than would have happened otherwise.

Idols are screwing like everyone else. I'm actually highly convinced that the whole Tasty in Busan thing was about jungkook losing his virginity. For those of you who don't know about it, a fan meeting jhope asked the fans what's tasty in busan. Jungkook then whispered something into jhope's ear which made him (jungkook) laugh and slap the table and jhope said he's wierd and that he can't tell the fans what he said. Jungkook then told jimin what he said and jimin's reaction was "everyone, jungkook has become an adult" and the fans started screaming What else could that possibly mean? People, mostly men, usually consider losing one's virginity as a sign of becoming an adult or a "real man". Also, when the fans asked jimin to elaborate he said "it's exactly what you're thinking." There's doubt in my mind that if what jungkook was talking about isn't about his virginity then it was something just as lewd.

@@mlpmlpmlpmlp1 If he was only 17 or 18, then it's very unlikely for him to lost virginity at that age. Let me explain. Korea is still a VERY conservative and sexually oppressive country for WOMEN and GIRLS. Girls under or around 18 years old (even into early 20s) who have sex will 100% get slut-shamed by a lot of people around them, maybe even their own parents. Losing virginity for a young girl/woman is basically still a taboo. And what does that mean for teenage boys? It means that most of them aren't having sex either (unless with other boys lol). Some may say "Oh but of course girls can just do it in secret. Just don't let people find out." But it's not that simple. The slut-shaming is something that's deeply internalised in most Korean and East Asian girls' minds. They technically can do it in secret, but they won't. Because they also believe that they will be sluts if they lose their virginity. I'm not joking. And it's actually very sad. Do young boys/men like JK know about this slut-shaming culture? Duh. Everyone knows. So they know that if they have sex with a young girl around their age (e.g. a female classmate), they would have "destroyed" her "honour" (for lack of a better word) and that it would bring disaster for her if others find out. Again, I am NOT exaggerating. It is actually a very serious thing. Sex work is also illegal in South Korea. There are (illegal) red-light districts, but the chance of a famous idol like JK (and who's only around 18 years old) actively going to ILLEGAL red-light districts? That's actually a very dangerous and stupid thing to do. JK is more cautious than that. C'mon. Dispatch would absolutely DESTROY him if he did that. Dispatch is everywhere...... So what is the only other relatively safe/legal/won't-destroy-a-girl's-reputation option for a young guy like JK? Yeah......it is doing it with a much older woman. And...it's not a very good option. It's kinda creepy. It's definitely very creepy. I just don't think JK would do that. And I personally just want young boys to do it with young girls. I don't like huge age gaps. Btw relationship/sex with a huge age gap is also a taboo thing in SK. In summary (god i love my essaywriting talents...haha...), this is why I don't think young male idols around 18 years old are just having sex and living their best lives. Sorry for making this discussion so heavy. But sex is actually a pretty heavy thing in East Asia. I don't like that. It is oppression and I hate it so damn much. But it still exists unfortunately. But I'm not speculating anything about the current BTS. They're all approaching 30. JK is around 25. They're adults and they can be doing anything they want. They can even date much older women now. I don't care. I think JK likes noonas anyway LOL

It's disgusting imo and I have been told that "it's normal to ship idols in Korea" and that I have no idea because I'm an international fan and I should just keep my opinions to myself because it's insulting to Korean shippers.

I might agree with the "educating idols rant" but I do have some thoughts. It's expecting a lot to believe a Korean barely out of high school who's whole life was spent in a dance practice room to know every little thing about some other countries cultures. Yes, I get it. As time goes on, it seems impossible for idols not to know certain things. But on the other hand, the West isn't the center of the universe, and certainly isn't in Asia. So expecting them to share our believes and ideals is, ironically enough, problematic. Should they know better? Probably, if they're after reaching an international market, but I can cut the 20 year old who's on a Kale diet and got 2 hours of sleep some slack when they forget some obscure cultural fact about some country they'll probably never see. This biggest issue in the West is that we think our local issues are global ones, and they SO are not. So if we're choosing enjoy foreign content for entertainment purposes, we should keep in mind it comes from a different culture and shouldn't expect for it to conform to ours. Idol won't know everything that may offend us, and given their main audience isn't the west anyway, I don't think they're too worried about upsetting some rando in the US. We don't pay them, we're not the demographic, we're just the cherry on top.
@jaeminista22773 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU this thing "they should know better" comes from a ethnocentric point of view, in my case I'm from Argentina a country where we barely learn about racism, how should a I know something that I never heard for example the aave. And I didn't know about it until a became tw stan so how do I expect idols to be educated when me being from the same continent I'm not.
@everglowup3 жыл бұрын
All I am saying is if countless idols have been dragged and cancelled on social media for this behavior, other idols have the time to educate themselves on it. They don't need highschool or college, they are in real time right now with the internet. If they can see the backlash happening to other idols I bet you they can do a quick Google search. Idols have the capacity to educate themselves, no excuses for that. Saying that idols don't know everything that will offend us while they see other idols getting called out and cancelled for the same things over and over again is bullshit imo 🤷🏾♀️

But do you realistically think these idols will “educate” themselves on issues that again they have no real connection to. Most of them (more likely their teams) slap an apology together and keep it pushing for optics and most likely never talk about it again. If they barely have time to apologize for minor indiscretions, do you think they will go Google the nuances of cultural appropriation or just say that they are a fan of black culture and call it day. Like I think the reality and the expectation for an industry/system that isn’t structured on “educating” idols should be revisited. These incidents will continue to happen because the cancelling and dragging are not so much effective for us as they are for the industry heads bank accounts. They don’t really pay attention to foreign outrage, not unless it’s related to China or Japan because they take priority, US, and the minorities within the US are after thoughts. Don’t assume they will instantly change or even begin to fully understand that they can change their racial biases or cultural insensitivity overnight. That takes time, and unlearning what their entire industry is built on and ingrained in some of them. Most Americans don’t get it right today, what makes you think they will? They definitely still need to be held accountable, but I think the knetz need to be the one’s who do. They clearly have more time on their hands. Remember we are still the minority in their world. Of course fatou would get hate, she’s in their country, it would just be random for her to disrespect them.

I'm glad I'm not on Twitter lol. Honestly Monsta X became my favorite group easily once I started actually checking out their discography and seeing how much they are involved in making thier own stuff (I feel like it's rare esp. in k-pop). Also Jooheon (and I.M) are such crazy all-rounders. I feel bad in a way that not many people take the time to fully check them out bc their concepts can come of as repetetive or generic (their MV's definetly are but they literally do so much, it just always has their style... that in itself in another discussion like, is a group better just because they sing to vastly different concepts?) but I also feel like that's a big part of why Monbebe is over-all a less "toxic" fandom than most others. I feel like most monbebe really spend time into this group and learning about the members and stuff. Also (correct me if I'm wrong) they are literally the only idols I have seen to ever actually adress LGBTQ+ directly and speak about misogony + share stuff about their health so freely. IDK what this comment is supposed to be, I just wanted to show some appreciation to those guys. Also I feel like I can openly talk about things they did wrong without Monbebe defending them to death.

When people see a child grow up in the public, people start to act weird when they realize the child they once knew is not a child anymore. I remember reading another comment on this video that mentioned Miley Cyrus and it brought up so much anger I had. I use to see so many comments during Miley’s Wrecking Ball era. Comments like “what happened to the Hannah Montana Miley” or “I want the Hannah Montana Miley back”. I would read those comments and think to myself y’all do realize that Miley was like 12 or 13 at that time. I feel like this is what’s happening with Jungkook. It’s the fetishization of wanted to keep him as the same 15/16 year boy he was when BTS first started. Another thing people tend to forget is young Jungkook mentioned getting tattoos on American Hustle Life.

I agree with everything you said except the "we don't claim them" part. Which is my opinion, but it's definitely not something we say just because we don't want to hold them accountable or because we think they will change by saying that. We don't mean it as in "please, don't hold our toxic fans accountable" either. We mean it as in hold them accountable, do whatever you want and say whatever you want to them because we want nothing to do with them. We choose not to focus on them because that will do nothing but create more toxicity as you said that nothing will change in their mindset. By "we don't claim them", we mean that we don't believe they're truly a part of loving a group and appreciating a group in a healthy way. At least, that's what most people I talked to meant when they said 'we don't claim them'. At the same time, we don't want people to look at them and use their stupidity as a reason to say a fandom is toxic and there's no upside to that fandom. All fandoms are toxic. The intensity of it varies on the popularity of a group. The more fans you have, the more toxicity you have. And that is something you cannot eliminate or help when it comes to people. But there are also fans who appreciate an idol and love an idol and are healthy towards the idols of the k-pop industry and are overall wonderful people that help others on a daily basis and their love is contagious to other fans and on and on. And I know that should be the norm, but I feel like healthy, loving, wonderful fans aren't as much mentioned as toxic ones. It's like seeing a movie and mentioning only the stars of it. Of course not. You have a bunch of unsung heroes behind it who help on a daily basis. It's not just the toxic fans. Of course, that's my opinion. And your opinion is 100% appreciated and respected!

Woojin was the least popular member by far and what you said holds true imo. Ppl took accusations and ran with it even if they were eventually proven to be lies. Hope his mental is okay tbh. Ik felix posted on insta with the believe in stray kids #8 around the same time as this was going on and that validated a lot of ppl in their thinking of woojin. Toxic ARMY same as Toxic Blink: Every fandom has toxic fans but Blinks/ARMYs are notorious since they have giant, international fanbases. Ignore toxic ppl, I don't need that negativity. Big3 Talent: The Big 3 are the top of the top when it comes to Korean music entertainment. To simply get in means you're talented. Also prolly based on strict looks too so there's some unfairness in that regard. Educated Idols: Really interesting point. I agree though. It continues to happen time and time again and generally no ramifications occur for it. Ppl still sweep it under the rug mostly. Idol sex: Lol this is so funny to me. Yes they prolly are but it'd weird me out if they weren't tbh. Most idols are young adults in their sexual prime and they're all good looking so it makes sense. Maybe they have like NDA's with ppl so they don't spill LOL Fourth gen groups: I listen to Cravity so this one hurt a bit D: but i get it. I like the members and they carry the group for me. Their music is generic at best and honestly some b-sides I think could do better as the title track (Jumper/Believer/Ohh Ahh), but I'm biased. But I hope it evolves as time goes on since they're still rookies and have been around for like 7 months rn. Of course, groups like SKZ and Ateez were really diverse in their music at the same point in their careers too. It prolly comes from the fact that SKZ and Ateez are self-produced while Cravity isn't as far as I know, but idk maybe I'm just making excuses. Jungkook change: Agree. If he was the same person from debut as to now I'd be worried tbh. Ppl naturally change as they get older and the same applies to him. Mina AOA: I thought this was about Twice Mina I'm so dumb. Definitely manipulative later on like you said. In the beginning I think it was genuine but later I think she wants revenge.

Like Jungkook wasn't the only one who changed, V changed, Jimin changed ,jhope changed. In short they all changed ,as in matured they can't act like little boys anymore every single time. Its just that the maknae line especially JK really showed cause they were soooo young imagine a 15yr old being a star. Look at miley wouldn't it be creepy if she still acted like she was 15. It would be creepy

These are some raeally unpopular opinions. No wonder why you hyde the likes/dislikes. Since these are really unpopular I want to give my opinion: ARMY is threatened by Monsta X: Agree, but I would say that most of the armies that tries to listen to other groups will probably like Monsta X. I see a lot of armies that listen also to NCT, Stray Kids and Monsta X so maybe it isn't that bad that situation Toxic ARMY same as Toxic Blink: Agree. Really nothing to say but straight facts Second Gen was generic: As someone who likes 2nd gen I feel offended but that's the objective of the video. I think in 2nd gen there were groups that were generic but this happens in every generation so I don't mind it Big3 Talent: I would say big 3 idols are the ones that have more chance to be the most talented because bigger agencies can invest more in training their idols making them as good as they can be. With smaller companies this isn't necessarily true Educated Idols: Agree Fourth gen groups: I like some 4th gen groups but I'm still listening to 3rd gen boy groups because I'm a pretty new kpop fan and I want to catch up with some older groups Monsta X was the best third gen boy group: I really enjoy Monsta X (it's my 2nd favorite boy group) but the fact that they aren't that diverse in their concepts I think holds them down while groups that can do a lot of concepts probably are more insteresting. I like Monsta X style and I don't want them to change but the general public sympathize more with versatile groups Jungkook change: if armies can't accept that BTS are changing because they aren't teens anymore I don't know how they'll manage BTS going to military. I don't know why armies are making this huge deal about BTS changing, I've never seen an Exo-l, Elf, Shawol or whatever fandom complaining about their idols changing. And BTS is younger than all the groups I mentioned but their fans are already complaining. I don't understand

@@everglowup They can't handle the truth. I just discovered your channel. You really educated me on the kpop world. I knew some stuff but you added on my knowledge of that world. You have points, arguments and have facts to back it up. With fake news era created by tha orange man (No longer in power thank lord) we need more of those and not blinded but fake news or false informations. We need to go back to basic. That is so simple too. Thank you so much.

1. I only started to pay attention to SKZ after god's menu, even if I had listened to other songs like hellevator or double knot, and even then I could realize that not many people liked him 😬most got over his departure really quick lmao. After watching video updates on Woojin's situation, I'm considering giving his music a chance 🤔 2. Do people really say that idols that come from one of the Big 3 aren't talented? Have they ever listened to SM's singers? YG's rappers and producers? JYP's singers and dancers? Come the f on! Yeah, they have privilege, but that doesn't make them any less talented or hardworking. 3. May I recommend DONGKIZ? they're a 4th gen group and their music is very... Specific? When I listened to Lupin by them I was shook 😳 they have like less than ten songs bc they come from a small agency but from my pov they have niceeee producers behind them. I didn't like their last comeback as much as Lupin but I'm definitely still interested. 4. My thoughts on Loona: the one song I would say "this slaps" is High High, apart from that, I agree 5. My thoughts on Wonho leaving: even if he didn't want to leave I think this is a good chance for him, likeeee have you listened to Losing You? ART 6. Also, as a Monbebe, we don't deserve Monsta X. They don't get the hype they deserve and that's why they're always overlooked or uncredited for trends. Wonho's blue tips? Their aggressive/masculine clothing style? Their cowboy concept? (They actually did that a month after a gg did but I don't remember their name) all those things have gotten hate and what do Monbebe do? N o t h i n g And I'll stop before I rant (more) about all the hate Wonho got because he used to perform shirtless or rip his clothes on stage or just be confident on his body.

So I'm a Monbebe, have been for a long time and I 100% agree with you that we don't deserve Monsta X. With that said, I also believe that a large portion of Monbebes are a lot older than your "average kpoppie" (including myself) and from my point of view its really time consuming and not worth the effort to get into twitter/social media fights with ignorant/toxic haters who don't care to see reason even (let's be honest à lot of us have other things to do). Already, just scrolling down this comment section and seeing a certain fandom all up in arms about someone else's opinion and not wanting to reflect on the opinion critically (having to be spoon fed "it's my opinion not fact" by the creater) offered is draining and infuriating.

When i heard 4th gen bg are boring, i was boiling to know if you would say that Oneus is one of them, because it would have been weird if you considered their music and universe boring.

Not claiming toxic fans is actively excluding them from the fandom. Plus, it’s pointless to debate people who’re only showing up to leech attention off of the massive following of groups they barely follow themselves. Fighting them is giving them exactly what they want with zero gain in return. Not to mention that defending anyone against toxic fans only provides them with an outlet to call you sensitive and accuse you of being a slave to your faves, completely unable to accept “constructive” criticism, which incites more useless in-fighting. In other words, you’re just giving them more ammo against you. “They don’t need you to claim them, or to not claim them, to not do damage” idk what point you thought you were making, but, yes? They’ll do damage regardless, so how does claiming them and then fighting them at every opportunity change that? It doesn’t, it just leaves fans worn out for no reason, with no positive outcomes. Besides, the people you were trying to prove something to didn’t “win” anything just because they discovered you were into kpop. They only proved they lack the critical reasoning skills to debate you and aren’t worth debating. When they tried to use liking kpop as a reason to dismiss your points, they clearly demonstrated they have the same mentally as the antis you want fans to fight, which is obviously worthless.

About "idols don't need to be educated" I may disagree with assuming they already know. I think it is a ethnocentric view, I'm from south America, I live in a country where we barely learn about racism and its history. Until I became a tw Stan I didn't know the whole thing problematic with racism, cultural appropriation, and from my own experience I also don't expect them to know everything in this kind of topics. Just think that I'm from the same continent and I don't know these topics (I'm trying to educate myself) why y'all (especially Americans) assuming that idols who were born and raised in Korea already about it, so yes we have to educate them.

I've been an army for almost 5 years now and I love monsta x too and I never knew there was any beef between the two fandoms. This is news to me honestly. Oh also if what you said is true abt armys hating on monsta x bc I.M. said he wouldn't make an english song a couple of years back and are using that against them then i'm very disappointed. Whoever said that are real hypocrites bc Jungkook literally did the same in regards to his tattoos. He said via live that he'd never get tats bc he love his body pure but years later he has the most tats in bts. There's nothing wrong with that but my point is, people change and that's not fair.
@amethystcane74013 жыл бұрын
What she's saying is bs. I can assure you that a majority of the fandom either dont know monsta x, ignore them or casually listen to them as well (myself included). There is no beef other than the typical random insults thrown here and there between fan accounts.
@abhilashajainbr3 жыл бұрын
Jungkook has always loved tattoos and have said that he'd love to get them in earlier days. We also have a running joke about it involving Yoongi. He has never said he disliked tattoos. Also about MX, most people didn't know them/ignored them. The only ones who started beef with was towards BB and radio play for being xenophobic.

@@abhilashajainbr yes, he did say he love them and he'd love to get them but he said he decided not to because his skin is too precious...you could see it in this live at 40:09 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqHNh618pcR1p7c My point was that, he could like and want something but not get it even if he could bc other reasons outweighs the wants and it's also alright if he changes his mind in the future (as he did) bc humans emotions and wants are always changing.
