Today is the first night of Hannukah 5784, AKA 2023. Chag Sameach to all who are listening to this most beautiful prayer, especially in these trying times of darkness all around us; let the miracles, the wonders and the salvations come!

I love this song so much! I recently played it for my gentile partner, who'd never heard it before, on the first night of Chanukah -- I was like, "This is the closest thing to a Chanukah carol we really have!" He loved it! It IS super catchy 🤗 To everyone else who is celebrating, happy Chanukah!!! 🥰✡💙

You should date a Jewish person.

@@zelda.1776 Love is love is love is love is love, my dude. I just so happened to fall in love with a non-Jew. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. He is a beautiful person both inside & out, my family absolutely adores him, I adore him, & he goes out of his way to learn everything he can about our traditions & support me & my faith in every possible way he can. What's wrong with that?! I would MUCH rather be with a gentile I loved with all my heart than a Jewish man I didn't care for.

@@dailealexander2055 That's cool but completely forbidden according to Torah, and the opposite of what G-d wants.

Say goodbye to 4,000 years of Jewish continuity. You are the last link in the chain going back to Abraham. Sad. Very sad also that you place no value in Jewish continuity. Your children will celebrate Xmas, not Channukah. It's a shame you did not look for beautiful Jewish people. They are out there and you would have found one if you looked.

I have the vinyl version of 1978 "Greatest Hits of the Festival" as performed by the group that toured the US. That group included Itzik ben-Melech and Sandy Shmuely. In 1995, Sandy performed at my wedding. I hope his career outlasted my marriage.

My mom has this record with Al Hanisim in the list. I used to listen to this record for years when I was a kid. This is also the version used in Rikudei Am (Israeli Dance). I love it!! ❤️❤️❤️

YES! I've been looking for this for ages. Thanks for putting it up.
Jhon, I was a kid during the 80's and went to one or two Chasidic song festival shows in Sharon, MA. If you have recordings from their shows. Please be in touch. That music is my genre. Thank you Rabbi Daniel

Actually this is the “world premiere” of this song. But the composer and his friends presented it two or three years earlier at a Yeshiva University Chanukah party (where it took first prize). Later they ( and another two or three guys) recorded it on their Shivat Zion album.

You could try Ebay. I found people selling vinyl but asked them to transfer to CD and keep the vinyl, which they did. I got the 1973 Israeli song festival that way.
We went to 3 or 4 of these concerts when they were in Indiana in the 70's. I've been looking for CD's of these concerts. Anybody know where I could get them?

I didn't know this was written by a modern composer, who is Chassidic. Lots of Ruach.
@yeruchom8 жыл бұрын
I believe the composer is Orthodox but not necessarily Chassidic. These Chassidic Song Festivals were about the type of music (religious), but not necessarily to the composers or performers. Sadly, I don't believe there are such song festivals any more.

The song was written by Dov Frimer, an Orthodox guy in Israel. American born, not Chassidic.

The words are in the Siddur (prayer book); it's the addition for Chanukah and Purim, both in the Amidah (in Modim) and Birkat Hamazon (in the second blessing).
