The 200 LC pricing is stupid when you can get the LX for ~20% less. And I dont see AHC as a bad thing. I know its been universally hated, I think because no one actually understands how it works, but I actually prefer it over a static suspension since I use my truck for a whole variety of purposes, including towing a 5500 lb trailer. The AHC is so adaptable and versatile and thats not something you can get from a static suspension.

It’s great until it breaks
@asplmn17 күн бұрын
@@BenHardyCars Agreed, on the used market you can get more for less with the LX. From my research, the AHC very rarely ever have issues so long as you maintain it. Considering that Toyota/Lexus spent millions and millions on designing this suspension. The money "saved" on feeling like you'd need to go aftermarket can just be instead applied to a new OEM suspension when it does finally break. lol :P
@Jay-me7gw16 күн бұрын
@@BenHardyCars Case in point. AHC doesnt break often. And if its does its probably because it wasnt maintained. No one would question your brakes failing if you never changed the brake fluid, or if your transmission failed because you never changed your transmission fluid, or if your 5.7L head gasket failed because you never changed the coolant. . .
@Mercedes15716 күн бұрын
I find that only people that are non mechanical, IE first owners, or people that cant actually afford maintenance are the people that dont like systems like AHC, Airmatic, or ABC. The systems are extremely easy to work on and parts are inexpensive. Sure, a dealer taking advantage of a uneducated owner could make it seem like a bad tech, but to those of us that perfectly maintain the systems, they are as good as new, decades later. AHC is amazing

@BenHardyCars Since 2016 the Base US spec Land Cruiser has had semi-aniline leather seats and the Heritage Edition has had pigmented full-grain leather. The wear pattern on your HE is characteristic of a robust full-grain leather. In comparison the semi-aniline is softer and shows less wear but may not hold up as well in the long-term. I am constantly amazed by published MPG numbers from the 5.7L LC200. My EU-spec 4.5L TTV8 Diesel LC200 (6-speed) gets exact same numbers despite it being almost impossible :- ). 16 MPG? In Winter? No city driving, no highway flooring it? What wizardry is that? It almost makes me want to get a second one in this spec, maybe when I'll road-trip US I'll bring one back home. As someone who tested extensively KDSS against AHC, it's not the same in LC200, the AHC is way more superb. Although in 300, the E-KDSS in GR-Sport is the one to get.
@Jay-me7gw17 күн бұрын
Yeah they do pretty well. I just did a 600 mile road trip, most of which was at 80 mph(posted speed limit here in utah) and I managed nearly 17mpg on 315/70R17 Goodyear Territory MT's.
@user-yl9vs9eh1w17 күн бұрын
Crazy. Best I currently get in Winter here, on 32.5" Blizzaks is about 18 mpg (13 l/100km) while doing exactly that same speed. If that was on 35" mud-terrains like you, I don't want to imagine :- ). But I don't get it.. I wonder if it's the freezing temperatures or the winter additives in diesel fuel that add-up. I mean, my technical card lists 24 mpg as the combined mileage for the 1VD, I've no idea how they achieve that.

I don't think the fear of repair costs is relevant for a $80k rig. In my opinion, repairs can be very inconvenient if not dangerous depending on when or where your vehicle breaks down. If you're prepared and have the right supplies and a sat phone, there's no real danger and that's such an outside case for buying a 200, considering 99.9% of them are mall crawlers. My point about the irony stands. If you are buying a 200 to deal with fewer repairs, it's worth a chuckle to observe that irony.
