Everything was winning (per computer), but the superior 24... Bb2 (instead of the played Bd6) jumped out to me immediately as looking really strong. Gets out of the way of the pawn while gaining tempo on Rook. And next move can solidify with a3.

From an engine point of view maybe it's superior, and I'm sure he saw he could attack the rook and gain a tempo. However, you're opening yourself up to future tactics and the bishop on b2 may end up a liability at some point. You want to remove obstacles from pushing and promoting pawns whenever possible. I'm sure it works concretely and these abstract considerations are easily refuted by the engine but from a human point of view getting out of the way just seems wiser. Note that when the bishop relocates to f6, getting on that same important long diagonal it's also preventing rook infiltrations via e7. It just seems like a far more practical square for it, maximizing the bishop's long term options and giving it two different tasks.

Great video! A video on the Bird or Grob openings would be appreciated! I love offbeat openings.

Missed a good opportunity for 2... Nc6

Wow after the messy gambit game, that was basically a perfectly played game. Absolutely demolished the opponent. Gained around 30 centipawn advantage per move.

I don't understand why people play so quick in their rapid games. Why not just play blitz if on move 18 you're only gonna have used a minute?
