I’ve been watching every video now for 4 years. Also went back and watched, repeatedly, ALL your videos since you started. I thought on this one, for some reason, that the older we get, the more comfort we want! Lol and I’ve seen the progression in your videos as well. We care about comfort the older we get and I’m finding that at in my life now as well. You’re a hard working family man who loves making content and interacting with people on here about bush-crafting! Nick is following in your footsteps and as a grown man now he probably has ideas of his own. Continuing the content maybe?? If not, what a great father to learn from about what y’all love. Side note, I love how you ask, the Best camera man in the world, if he’s still getting the shots on the camera! 😂😂😂 He’s well seasoned camera man! And I know you know that. You could have monetized your channel and made a great amount of money off these yet you do it because you love it and not for the love of money. That says a lot brother! Nick it’s a wonderful thing to see a father and son together in a wayward world nowadays. Keep up the good fight as long as y’all can and we’ll keep watching this great content! God bless y’all!

@@Reallybigmonkey1 😂 same story here, Dave. Survival is just just pure misery but you learn that with time. When you're younger it's just a challenge and all fun. I remember when I bought my first books of Tom Brown Jr. I'm in Poland so I ordered them from States at the time and chances are I was the only guy here having those books. Like all of them. And I thought I found the Holly Grail. I just have to go to the woods with a knife and I'll be fine. 😂 😆 Oh, cluelessness. I bet you can imagine how it went. Instead of feasting on 🦌 and🐇 all I could find was 🌲. And that was before all those survival KZbin industry. Now I'm looking at those poor kids from new generations and I just feel sad for them. I understand they want freedom like I did but... that's why I stand with you 💯 on your minimum kit philosophy.

Awsome Father's Day gift and anytime you get to spend time with your son outdoors is a gift from God! Thanks for the wonderful video, Dave! Just an FYI: If it were me (and it's not of course😉) I would keep it a three legged table, because tripods are always more stable on uneven ground. I would just mark where the legs meet the bottom of the table in the most central location, and add some weld bead in a crescent shape just slightly larger than the diameter of the legs, then cut the legs off at an angle to make them lay flush against the bottom, and locked into the crescent shaped "walls" to keep them from slipping out sideways. Or even a small piece of tubing about 1/2" long slipped over the end of the legs and welded onto the bottom at the angle needed to keep the legs locked into place. Neither option would take up that much more room in the pack, and would greatly enhance the stability. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great adventures with Fun in the Woods!

Super cool of Nick to get you that machete for Father's Day. We have a basecamp Kelly kettle. We've had it for around 15 years and love it. The only downside of it was we have the stainless steel version and the rivets they used were aluminum. So once I got those drilled out and replaced with a stainless ones problem solved and has been going strong ever since. Definitely going to check out local Aldi to see if they have any chairs left. They look really nice and with that material on the base would be great for the beach or other soft places that normal chairs sink in. God bless and stay safe.

The Table = 3 legs are better than 4, I would suggest thread the 3 rods on one end and weld 3 bolts on an angle you like under the table top. OR drill 3 Holes in the tabletop for the rods to stick through. But then you may want to sew a bag for the tabletop to protect the gear in your backpack from the nuts. if youw ent that way. Sturdy AF both ways when done. Happy Father's day, Nice gift Nick.

Way to go NIck! What an awesome Father's Day gift. The table is ingenious, like so much of your DIY kit. The Kelly Kettle has always fascinated me. You used to see them all the time on videos and Amazon. I had totally forgot about them. Some nice looking woods. I hate that all of our National Forest here are pretty much completely devoid of bushcrafting resources, other than fat wood. For some reason, most of the roads to the hardwood areas have been gated and are walk-in only except from 9/1 through 1/1. It really cuts down on any decent place to disperse camp. However, now that I have my new Velotric Summit electric mountain bike I hope to be able to get to some decent areas to camp. I have it decked out with two Ortlieb waterproof panniers, a waterproof trunk, and two waterproof fork bags. I have it completely loaded with my gear and ready to go. Enjoyed the video Dave and Nick....best wishes.

Thanks for an entertaining channel - inventive and adaptive as usual - and prepared to admit when it does have minor setbacks or need further development .... Cheers

Weld a little ring to the bottom of your table and use a piece of small bungee cord that hooks onto the green center piece I may help keep the table top from moving around or I have a factory made folding table about the same size but it has a corduroy top with a bungee on each corner that comes down and hooks onto a ring on each leg. It’s 4 legged though but just a couple ideas. But Dave you are such a smart handy guy you will figure it out. Nice Father’s Day present Nick got you. He’s a great young man you thought him well

I love your sewing skills. My BAG problem is, i got some bags. Put stuff in the bags, forget what is inside the bags. Got to find something, so i got to dig through all the bags to find it. If i pack a back pack its so heavy when done i cant lift it never mind lug it. I began buying ladies clutch bags to put small stuff into. But i think if your patience and skill to make a special bag for all your gear. Im jealouse. I am 72, a woman and should know how to sew a simple bag for gear. But i dont.? Thinking of buying some of those back pack chairs. Got a smaller car, go gold orosoecting and need all my camping gear. Got to jettison the cots. They take to much room, and i need my high banker. I have been considering buying a Kelly Kettle and now I think I am sold on it. We have watched your vid for years & seeing Nick growing up, basically making us his adopted parents...so where's our machete Nick.??? We have something similar to the Kelly but shorter & fatter, it works the same way though. It cooks & boil at the same time. Also reckon it looks like a tiny still for making moonshine.! Hmmm..light bulb ideas. Love the table & chairs. First time we see you in t-shirts, must be quite warm over there. We are having winter here in Australia. Snowing in the Eastcoast but raining in the West. Beautiful green location mate. Looking forward to the SHTF bike. Big cheers from Australia.

Hi Dave and Nick, Beautiful machete for Father's Day! the table is really neat too. If you could make something to hold the legs to the tabletop, it would be awesome. I haven't been to Aldi's in a while. Sometimes you can find some neat stuff there. I'll have to check and see if they have those chairs over here. The peach coffee sounds good. I like the Kelly Kettle Trekker, not too big like the other sizes I've seen videos on. Awesome. Great video, take care guys. 👍🏻☕

I can see those mini chairs being real handy in more urban areas or places where there aren't many trees. I just cant get over your idea about taking the seats out of old camp chairs and stringing them up in the trees. Those things are very strong with those huge grommets and pack into nothing, perfect in the forest. Its also a good idea to wear a sitting pad on your belt, be it closed cell foam or layers of wool and mylar. You see a lot of soldiers in Ukraine wearing such a sitting pad. Additionally traditional Native Americans wear what appears to be a loin cloth on the outside of their buckskin pants, the back flap is for sitting on and the front flat is for drying your hands. Detach the front flap for all kinds of used, instead of a buckskin loincloth you can basically shove one of your doo rags or a micro fiber towel down the front of your belt. You might consider polishing that stainless steel table top to a mirror finish. I wonder if you can make your own version of this kettle with threaded pipes. I always pour my coffee back and forth between two cups when i want to cool it faster, the higher and slower you pour the more the air will cool it.

Yep, chairs with no frames are meant for trees and paracord! Oh, I was thinking about welding a huge version of a kelly kettle but, thatll be a cold weather project. Take care and Thanks for watching

You need some copper tube winding from the Kelly kettle to the Stanley French press and invent the coffee still. Maybe the Italians beat you to it with their expresso machines. Happy Fathers Day Dave. You are a great son Nick.

I like using pruning shears and small limb cutters when I'm using a twig stove, helps to keep the pieces from flying everywhere like that. Also a good idea usually to stir after adding water to your French press.

I never miss you but I suck at commenting because it's usually between the time I get home from work and the time to go to bed during the week which is 3hrs at best so I stream KZbin on my firestick and the it's time to go to bed 😫 So I just wanted to say that I loved the machete and that coffee press was cool too. Hey, guys. Nice video. Happy belated father's day. Nick, you did good son, you got dad a gift he actually wanted, and something he really wanted. Your stove seemed to work really well. Turning a kettle into a rocket stove, simple ideas are the best. Great seeing y'all out together. Chairs are nice, but way to low for me, I need something a little taller. You'll find that out when you figure out you've got more years than you think. LOL Can't wait to see tge bike build, I'm certain it's gonna be good. God bless y'all and y'all stay safe out there playing with the black widows. Be sure and don't take any home with ya !!!

Dave, I enjoyed seeing Nick filming you again, I have the same two camp chairs & matching table you're setting up in the video, they sure beat sitting on the ground summer or winter. Some time ago I made comment about your Wood Badge hat and asked you 'want you do for a living' you said "I'm a Machinist & Welder," I have a new appreciation for you and your chosen vocation, over a year ago I found and have been watching Kurtis, Karen, Homeless (their Dog), George & his gang of wild birds making up their Machinist/Welding shop "Cutting Edge Engineering" in 'Australia,' I've wondered countless times if you also watch Kurtis Karen and the gang over yonder? Y'all Be & Stay Well across the way.

@parttimewoodcrafter3075 ай бұрын
@@Reallybigmonkey1 Thank you for the videos. I have been watching for years now. The green plug is a fairly new thing, the old ones have to be loose or left out like you did in the video. One more Kelly kettle tip... It's easy to burn your hand over the chimney when you lift it off the base. Instead, raise the handle straight out sideways, them hold the handle with both hands (still sideways not over the top) and lift the kettle of the base and set it down. Them you can raise the handle up and pour just like you did in the video without burning your hand on the heat from the stove base coming through the chimney.

Im glad you liked it. No food inside, water only. It would be tough to clean. I hate it but over the years some of the best machetes Ive ever used or shown have been taken out of production. loads of fun. im just under ths 240 weight limit so i want some of those chairs. we do have an Aldi nearby. ok here is an idea, again. when you first put the chair together you put the metal poles into a cup type sewn in piece. they were also on the top part of the chair. put either 3 o 4 metal cup type "cups" on the bottom of your table to hold the legs stable. you need to put me on retainer if you like my cool ideas.

Great Video ! Glad to see that there is an appreciation for some of the cool stuff that ALDI has to offer. I saw those this year and now a pair live in the car. Just in case. Fantastic gift from Nick Regarding flavored coffee. I've always found it a disappointment. Coffee is one of those things that shouldn't be messed with. That includes adding milk and sugar. Just my personal taste.
