4:55 I was honestly expecting a Jingle Bells remix here! It is funny I'm so used to my previous job as a radio DJ that I always start a track by pressing play on a button, I never even thought about pressing play and holding the jog wheel and wait then release once I want to beat match. I will definitely incorporate that to my skills, better late than never I guess! Amazing video as always!

Missed a trick there!

The "press play and hold" thing originates from vinyl DJing where the platter would be running but the DJ would hold the vinyl.

@@groovindj Thanks for the context, yes I mixed with vinyls a few times, but it is strange I never applied that same technic to a controller of to CDJs for some reason, as if it was a complete different thing haha

Exactly how I was taught years ago. Only then it was with two copies of the same record.

Great content. I never thought of practicing these simpler exercises. I went straight to beatmatching. You can guess that I learnt the hard way and it took me much longer. I'll incorporate these tricks. It's never late to relearn good practices. The drill of scratching is very interesting as I can't even do a baby scratch 😅

my timing is so bad i almost wept when I finally released the baby scratch and it played in sync. I got some work ahead of me, but this was the first time I felt like my timing might possibly be 'fixable'. btw, is there any difference in setting the jogwheel to 45 or 33 rpm?

Sure, Chris, I understand! By the way, I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your videos. They are so well-organized and easy to follow. I think you should really consider launching your own DJ course. Instead of covering the basic stuff that we see on other channels, you could dive into the more advanced secrets and practical techniques that would really help bedroom DJs like myself improve their skills. I’d definitely be interested and would be happy to purchase it.@@ReallyChrisM
