Omg do you people really think Dr's wouldn't take her case? It's more likely than not they wouldn't do it for free. Also for Lynn umm... did you not hear it was her fault. It was caused by piercing. I'm not saying she deserved it, and she makes it sound like the Dr's were saying she deserved it. She sounds like someone that gets offended and wears their feelings on their sleeve.

It's truly sick that it's something to be celebrated and not the norm, in my view. The doctors who do shut their patients down instead of listening to them should quit and *not* continue to fuck with peoples lives anymore. Sorry, but I'm not sorry.

It's a particular issue with mental health, because for so long the only source of information they had was the patient.It's a definite problem where certain classes of mental disorder result in the doctor choosing to not even bother listening, even if the patient is saying things that might be helpful in terms of identifying the problem because there's an assumption that you can't trust it. A good doctor knows that the information coming from the patient often needs verification, even with a patient that is fully in possession of their faculties.

Our daughter who is now 40 had a second ear piercing above the normal position and keloid started to grow. Took her to the doctor and they removed it. They told her that if you are predisposed to keloids that she should not have any further piercings and to be aware of anySurgeries or cuts above the waist. Thankfully they did not reoccur but I will never forget that experience. I’m so thankful Dr. Lee could help this lady

A person doesn't live life with weird things on their ears that make them sick because they have a normal relationship with the medical system. The blanket thing for when her patient was feeling dizzy, the way she tries to lighten the atmosphere by cracking jokes, the way she tells them the truth and tries to really help them afterwards. By insisting on their treatment, asking them how they are feeling etc. She saved lifes really! It's a gift, what she does. A non-doctor can see that just by looking. It's simply that other doctors didn't want to deal with it. Just like a doctor wanted my son to get an ultra sound on what was obviously an inguinal hernia, simply because they were stalling and wouldn't refer on until it was a crisis. A private hernia surgeon took one look and operated with absolutely no need for an ultrasound because it was incredibly obvious what it was.

The scarf was such a creative way to cover up the keloids. Cosplayers tend to be resourceful like that. But it's so sad that she had to rely on that in her daily life, not just when she was performing or dressing up. Essentially, she had to 24/7 cosplay as a version of herself that didn't have this condition. Most cosplayers get to take a break. They get to take off the wig, the corset, or the prosthetics, and they get to be themselves and just breathe for a while. Jennifer didn't have that option, without revealing a condition that would lead to stares--or just as bad, intentionally looking away.

To be fair it’s very unhealthy to be morbidly obese, it could be the underlying cause of her dizziness.
@Its_Asteria
@Its_Asteria Жыл бұрын
@biguncle554 she's not morbidly obese. Overweight possibly but I'd imagine it'd be hard to keep up on a daily routine or your health, especially mentally, when you have giant keloids on your ears And while yes that could be part of it. Having keloids on the ears, of that size can make you dizzy and disoriented. Your temples aren't that far from the ears. And the added weight and added blood flow can cause issues. However her weight isn't the topic at hand here and it shouldn't be discussed unless that's the topic of what's being treated. Which it's not. Her ears were what's being treated.

I got one on each ear when I was 2. Removed when I was 17. I can not wear gold, only silver, stainless steel, and titanium. I was told never to repierce my ears. Well, I did, and it takes forever for my piercings to heal. I'm glad she got help, and Dr. Lee was sympathetic towards her anxiety.

@8:02, when Dr. Lee gives her the weighted shield (blanket) to help calm her, that was a lovely thing to do! I found out about weighted blankets often lowering anxiety about a year ago, and bought one, then another slightly heavier one. I love my weighted blankie! I feel so cozy and safe under it.

The “weighted blankets” are lead shields that are used when people have x-rays done - even dental x-rays. They are to protect other vulnerable body parts from the effects of the radiation. But, it’s nice that these might have also helped her anxiety - 2 birds with one stone❣️

I too, feel a deep appreciation for the doctor and how her vocation of choice is most likely very rewarding, but is also redemptive to these people and allows them to recover some part of their self-concept. It is a ministry in that it helps people with issues that can sometimes affect their physical well-being . . . as well as the removal of unsightly abnormal growths. It's hard enough in life without having people stare or point at you. I pray that Dr. Lee, her family, her co-workers and her whole practice will be blessed from above in this coming year. I know these patients feel that she and her organization earn every cent.

I am shocked at how well that turned out I thought she was going to lose most of her ear. I know they can come back but in her instance they werent just cosmetic. They were causing legit issues with her hearing and stability. It makes me angry that the other docs wouldnt help due to her having chosen to pierce her ears...you know like most woman and many men. It shouldnt matter if someone had a hand in their issue they still deserve compassion and care. Its not like a perosn knows they are keloid prone before the trauma

I'd imagine part of it too is the increased blood flow to the keloids. Normally our ears while yes have blood flow, they don't have quite as much blood flow in the outer edges. The cartilage in the upper helix is a little more sensitive and has more vessels. But ultimately if you have a lot of tissue and blood going to a spot that doesn't normally have that, it can cause issues. Especially since it's on the side of her head
