When you were talking about the terrain generation being random it reminded me of something I had seen before. The publisher 'Goblin's Henchman' on DriveThruRPG uses a "Hex Flower" system to generate hexes where the generation is influenced by the previous hex. He has expanded the system into many unique small adventure generators, all of them using pay-what-you-want pricing. If you are at all interested you should go check it out, I'd start with "In the Heart of the Unknown - Procedural Hex Crawling Engine" You might even decide it deserves a review here :)

Yes! I have that Hex Flower system downloaded, but I haven't looked into it yet! Thanks for the reminder.

We had quite a few adventures, where the players needed to visit the grand eternal library of Thera in the Earthdawn universe. As the Therans are mostly nobles needing slaves in order to support their lifestyle, the players were visiting dangerous grounds as they could get captured and sold as slaves. This made visiting the library a dangerous undertaking. Sneaking past the guards, sliding your fingers through the pages while the other players watch your back... we needed a lot of details on the location to have alternative plans, when things went "a little" wrong...

Libraries are pretty useful because they provide a source of spells for wizards/mages/magic users to potentially copy to their spell book. Different libraries could have different tomes of magic etc... recipes and construction sketches, artifact info .... ( a nice compact and controlled environment for these kind of shenanigans) ;)

Also a good place to find maps, background of evil lords, prophecies, blueprints of weapons, recipies, to name just a few.

@@cronopi ooooh prophecies... I'll use that. cheers;)

Imagine a giant library continent, a Fantasy Coruscant, with sub-libraries and factions and librarian-monks, librarian-warriors and librarian mages. They all read chants to The One Who Listens, an Elder God who lives in the planet core...

Well, you can probably create this with these books!

Theres another book, from last kickstart, to create dungeons. As for a better terrain implementation you can Roll a d10 if equal or less than 7 you get the same terrain from where you came or are and if greater you Roll new one
@TheDungeonDive2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Already covered the other books.

Hexflowers would seem to be a way of having hexes be more consistent than a simple table.

Yeah! Those are great. Recently covered the Hexflower system in general.
