Just started wearing eau fraiche this year, it’s definitely my new summer favorite. I never hear any one talk about YSL L’Homme. The La Nuit is great! IMHO the regular L’Homme is very versatile. Granted maybe go lighter on the spritzers for work, but It’s always been a favorite. Just to mention another favorite of mine. L’dissey Por homme intense. It was the first cologne i bought when I started learning about fragrances. Rather than wearing CK Eternity or Giorgios Wings for men all the time. (I still keep both of them in my collection as retro classics ;) )
@drunkweasle3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t put Versace Eau Fraiche as the most versatile. It is a spring summer fragrance. But I live in Canada... so we have a more protracted and colder winter than large swaths of the USA. My recommendation for a first Fragrance would be Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. Like Sauvage, but smoother. Clean smelling for the office, but the metallic note and pepper to catch noses after work. Not terribly expensive at discounters. I will say though any of the fragrances on this list would be great for small collections for sure.

You should also break it down by season/temperature. An aquatic will not pair well with a 40 degree winter night and a boozy, tobacco scent will not go well with a 95 degree Summer day. Also now that I think of it there should be a distinction by age as well. A young guy probably shouldn't wear something like Tom Ford Oud or Mugler Pure Havane. And a guy over 25 should stay away from Eros and One Million.

I got into "wet shaving" with double edge safety razors. One of the quality shaving soaps is Tabac. It smells light, powdery, sweet and has a strong tobacco note. I spotted a Tabac cologne and bought it but it smells nothing like the shaving soap and I hate it. Then I happened to pick up a bottle of Jovan Musk and BAM! Perfect match to the Tabac soap and I LOVE the stuff. And it is about $8 a bottle. Creed Aventus is special, and life changing especially when you get a good batch. The reactions are mind blowing. The problem folks have with Creed Aventus is the batch variations that drive folks nuts. They were having issues making consistent smelling batches. Now that they have sold out it may never be an issue again. Creed Aventus will smell like the typical designer fragrances everybody is used to, and will lose its niche edge. It was the best of both worlds before they sold out, and was a lot of folks introduction into niche fragrances.

From my own little collection that is mainly from Ross and Burlington (I’m a college student) I’ve only spent more than like $30 on one cologne and it’s 212 because I found it at discount but could never get that at discount and I feel is amazing for the $70 I got it for. Black Bold by Kenneth Cole What convinced me was a review on Fragrantica that said “If Náutica Voyage is Squirtle, this one is Bulbasaur”. Cheap, simple, smells good. Perry Ellis 360 Red From what I hear, it’s like a slightly spicier Acqua di Gio. Cheaper than that also. I haven’t gotten around to buying a second bottle but I definitely should, one of my favorites. Tommy Bahama Set Saul Martinique The Tommy Bahama fragrances aren’t found as easily discounted but I did get it at Ross so it can happen. Lesser known. No one has come up and told me even what brand it was. Banana Republic 78 Vintage Green The dry down is great. Got that one at Burlington. Was surprised. They make decent simple fragrances apparently. Náutica Voyage you already mentioned but that’s the daily driver for me, but Eau de Fraiche is a better scent in my opinion, I would loved Voyage getting more love in the list, but that’s fine, I want them to be there for me at the Ross when I need it. Super cheap and reliable. I’m halfway through the second bottle and keep in mind most of my bottles have seen not as much use (besides the 360 Red, those are the only two bottles I’ve ever finished). Will check out the Creed Aventus clone. Thanks Antonio!

Many good choices from what you presented (I’ve owned many of them). Side note, your Mission line should be presented in the correct order Honor, Courage, Commitment. Those who’ve served know it all too well.

I got versace The Dreamer this summer as my first at a discount and it was sweeter than I expected, but I loved it. I'm kind of thinking about getting something for winter, maybe with black pepper since I like the smell. Could anyone help me out?

I've never bought cologne for myself before until last week. I love masculine colognes I smell other men wear. I went to the store and tried about 10 and they were are sweet smelling and feminine (acqua di gio profumo, sauvage and others). I ended up settling on the Bvlgari Man, I wanted a more masculine dominant one but this was the best in the store :/

EDP Sauvage may start slightly sweet but it is mostly a very masculine compliment getter after 10+ minutes. It is worth your money!

I’m intrigued as to what this video brings, I was an account manager for Ormonde Jayne a niche fragrance company located on Bond Street in London. We have concessions in Harrods and Selfridges “that is it.” Carry on talking sir! I know practically everyone. These are all commercial fragrances. Please ask me if you want something prestige. This is silly.

Hi Antonito. Good to see someone being practical and talking about price, especially in the current situation. I have Cool Water & CK one for summer, and Club de Nuit for a versatile scent. I also picked up a bottle of Prada Luna Rossa Carbon really cheap for a versatile blue fragrance. My current favorites now that it's getting colder here in the UK are, the Lalique Encre Noire line, the Roberto Cavalli Uomo line, and the Bentley for men line, I got them all for very reasonable prices and I have a bottle of D&G The One EDP which I bought a few years ago at a super low price :) Cheers from England 👍

I tried Prada Luna Rossa Carbon too and loved it. It reminds me of Sauvage a little bit. I also have Cool Water and CK One 🙌🏽
@strummerman71743 жыл бұрын
@@leonday5360 Yeah I think the Prada is smoother and softer, Sauvage EDT is a bit harsher, I haven't smelled the EDP or parfum to compare.:)

Issey!!!! I love that it made #8. Good advice for newcomers for fragrances: avoid flankers of anything because they can be discontinued abruptly which will hurt if it becomes a signature scent or other times the flankers are very specific in what they want to accomplish aromatically. When you test each brand, go for their basic “pour homme” scent if they have one and they normally do. This will be the scent that clues you in to what the design house tries to achieve with their fragrances. Test their main fragrance out on your skin for a couple of hours and judge it on how it makes you feel at spritz vs settled down. You may find something you love the initial smell of and then the next hour or so absolutely hate it until it wears off.
