Nice video. Great point about the flannel pants. Gray is badass and it is a color. It goes with basically every dark color-black, blue, green, red, orange-and looks great with jeans. I’d NEVER wear it with brown or gold. Love my 3 pairs of gray-nice/casual shoes too. Black can sometimes be too stark, brown is usually too plain and bring and white is ghastly, stark and shows dirt.

Grey flannel has been a staple in my wardrobe since I was very young. They are long lasting. I lately priced a pair as my waist seems to be expanding and was rather shocked. My last pair has lasted 18 years but they are essential. Another is the navy blue blazer. Absolutely necessary for every man.

i love some good grey. the first pair of dressy raw denim i got was actually a hemp denim in grey, which like you said, is a perfect fit cos it allows you to focus on the unique texture of the hemp, it's much more ropey and soft compared to your typical cotton denim. also went with grey for my first dress trouser, and I love it. brings out the texture so well.

I absolutely love gray and agree that it is extremely versatile. I dress in formal business attire daily and my gray slacks are, by far, my favorite pair. I love the fact that I can wear blacks as well as navy with them. I own several sport coats in addition to suits, and my slacks go with nearly everything. As does my favorite knock-around gray tweed fall sport coat (with the old school suede patches on the elbows). Though when I wear it I feel like Sean Connery's character in Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, I think the timeless style of it and the fact that it goes great with or without a necktie inflates it to my favorite Fall/Winter coat. I think grey is fantastic. It's been a staple in my wardrobe for a couple of years now. As someone with a young-looking face, the grey helps to level me out. I recently bought myself a Stetson hat. (Open road 6x) in caribou grey. Reason I purchased the grey tone, is that it can go with other colors as the season changes and what type of event I'm going to. Dark blues and faded blues go very well. While greens and reds are also a good blend but there are certain blues grey doesn't go well.. I also bought another Stetson but in the color of phantom grey. Hi Antonio and many thanks for your as-always-awesome-sartorial-input. Spot-on on your colour combinations for gray pants or trousers. I usually combine them with colours in the lavender, blue or even burgundy range although in order for the latter colour to be successful, it has to be toned down just right with the rest of the accessories and accoutrements. Grey also has the ability to bring out the detail and finesse in the other items we wear. Shoes, shirts etc… Or, as you so well pout it, it does not hog the limelight. I never considered gray out of favour or out of date. Au contraire, it is a versatile colour that helps you build, diversify and do things just right if you know what you’re doing. Everyone can hide behind black and navy. Working with gray requires a bit more knowledge and finesse. Thanks for the great advice and for reconfirming that I wasn’t off on the topic. I've got a pair of grey chukkas and a grey button-down, and a grey pair of jeans. I make it a rule never all three in an outfit, especially with the jeans and shirt. I like having contrast, so I wear different-colored pants with shirt and boots, and my jeans can go with everything else in my wardrobe, and I only wear my boots with them when I wear something lighter in shade or color on top. In all, you've just reinforced and elaborated on what I've already set on myself. :)

I really think grey is the best color to buy due to its versatility. I have a ton on grey sweaters in all styles (crew neck, v neck, quarter zip) and also grey chinos.I like how grey pairs with navy blue so I find myself wearing grey sweaters with dark denim or navy chinos and grey pants with navy sweaters. Sorry to hear that. I would suggest start with a pair of good shoes then work your way up. A good, pair of gray trousers should work. You can still dress sharp with jeans and a shirt. For this season, I would suggest layering your sweater over your shirt is a good way to start.

Antonio, great video. Gray is the most versatile color and goes with everything (except gray itself). The pants you are wearing at 3:53 look like the length needs to be tailored a little shorter. They look a little too long and all bunched up at your feet. A little tailoring on the length can make it look a whole lot better.

I have two identical (in the style) 3 piece suits, one black one gray. I bought them so that I could be interchangeable, however I am finding it hard to find a shirt that would match the gray (besides black) if I wear the full gray version of the 3 piece. What suggestions do you have for that, and what color ties do you think work as well. Gray micro-textured trousers, I wore them almost everyday to office, it goes with any color of shoes, especially burgundy laceups. However, didn't think much about gray shoes, I think I'll get some gray suede mocs to try with blue jeans or something. :) Amazing presentation as always :) Thanks Antonio.

I own a pair of grey suit trousers. They are an essential part of my wardrobe because they allow so much variability, especially for business casual outfits. I can, for instance, wear them with black or brown shoes, white (or even light blue) shirts, green, dark blue or black sweaters or - one of my favorites - dark blue jackets.

I appreciate you're bringing them up because I also think that they are underutilised and underestimated. Grey jackets, on the other hand, can be classy, but in my opinion, they don't allow the same flexibility as, for instance, navy blue jackets

Gray is a fantastic neutral background color that goes well with most other colors. For suits some of my favorite combos are: Dark grey suit, light blue shirt. Medium gray suit with pink shirt. I actually prefer a white shirt on a light gray suit - either with a brightly colored tie or more causal - no tie, ditch the jacket, rolled up sleeves and add a waistcoat. Because gray takes color so well (much, MUCH better than black), it's easy to cobble together a suitable outfit for any situation. You can use shirts and accessories to dress up or down as needed. I'm not a big fan of gray pants myself, but it's super easy to mix a gray Henley shirt, polo or sweater with a nice pair of jeans or khakis.

Hey Antonio, I actually already have some gray in my wardrobe, but struggling a bit how to match things. I have 3 or 4 gray chino's (variations in texture, pattern and color) , dark and light gray striped suit pants. William Lockie sweaters (round and V neck). Waistcoat Harrison Tweed herringbone (White/gray) Knitted tie (wool). I especially struggling with the waistcoat, not sure how to combine it, besides a white dressed shirt. Also have a collection of Floris van Bommel shoes, from simple to very bold patterns. After your movie I will have suit Supply make me a flannel one (before autumn) together with a brown suit.

I love grey. I exclusively wear nothing but grey pants now (jeans, chinos, slacks, etc). It just makes life easier.

Love my gray trousers! I have a navy sweater and a beige sweater I usually wear them with. As a student, these typically work for me as I don't frequently wear jackets. I do have a tan jacket I could wear them with. They're certainly a workhorse in my wardrobe!

Grey is my 2nd favorite color, right behind brown. So, naturally I love grey! I have quite a few grey shirts, and used to have some grey shoes before they fell apart. I loved those shoes.

Some of my favourite casual trousers are very pale grey jeans. When worn with something like a blue shirt, tan monkstraps and a similar belt it draws the attention to those other items. It also allows me to wear jeans without looking too casual in some circumstances where blue denim would.

Gray is such a reliable color for neckties. A silvery gray grenadine necktie is about the classiest accessory you can wear for formal occasions, if etiquette permits. (I don't really know American etiquette on tie color; the black tie is reserved for funerals/mourning in Finland, so gladly we don't have to use that boring piece often.) I put light gray dress shirts in the same category with off-white/cream: welcome alternative to the crisp white on all but the most formal occasions , and more festive than the ubiquitous, business-associated blue. The one you showed was a casual shirt so that's another thing, but if it was a dress shirt it would have been too dark with a suit and I understand why you wouldn't like it.

Hey antonio, I have a question, so I'm attending a wedding this weekend and I saw a style that I really like. Its gray blazer and a baige/light brown pants and dark brown leather shoes, was trying to match it with a plaid long sleeves(purple/white) and a plain blue tie. Since I'm just a guess do you think that's good to have that style in a formal setting?

I really like the way those blue trousers looked when held up against the grey jacket. I'd imagine you can wear brown leather shoes, a brown leather belt, and those blue pants with the grey jacket and it'd look nice. But what shirts could you wear? Would a lighter pink look nice? I can't think of anything else

Does it matter if it's charcoal grey or light grey? In the context of suits or at least a blazer.
