I used to work for the company who made the suits. Imperial jade means they crush the Jade precious stone, and the dust coming from it, it's mixed in the process together with the fabric. Making it extremely valuable and luxurious.

Rule #8: Why the embers? Jordan talks about how searching for and developing the true parts of yourself requires you to burn the dead wood from time to time. Otherwise you will be all dead wood and a fire (a crisis) will devastate you completely. So perhaps the small fire symbolises constant regeneration which is synonymous with practicing to always tell the truth. 15:36

So did some research into the lining of JP's suit for rule #4: For anyone interested here's who those faces are: Top Left = Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Middle Left = Bottom Left = Karl Jung. Top Middle =Fyodor Dosteoevsky Mid-Bottom = Friedrich Nietzche Top Right = Jean William Fritz Piaget Mid Right = George Orwell Bottom Right = Eric Neumann No idea who the mid-left one is though? Basically it's a list of all the people Jordan looks up to, which is why its for rule #4 Compare Yourself to who you were yesterday, Not to who someone else today.

Designs are a bit wild, but he always advocates to dress well, he says it reflects on personality and on life, because putting care into dressing spills over and people unconsciously put more care and effort into other things in life as well. Anyway, as one of his 12 rules goes: never forget to pet a cat when you encounter one in the street. 😄🐱

Love it. As a dressmaker myself, a bespoke suit allows you to make clothes that are meaningful (think Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors). For years, I've overhauled wool coats (sometimes old enough to have been made in the USA) with beautiful new linings and interior detailing. Jordan's new wardrobe inspired me to take an 100% camel coat and restyle it on a "John the Baptist" theme, the bodice lining in a wilderness print, the sleeve linings and details in bronze satin.

The two colour suit reminds me a little of Two-Face from Batman. I also own one Safari/Adventure style jacket that in made from linen. I did purchase the regular style peak lapel jacket that matches the pants. That jacket is Safari jacket is super versatile as I can get away wearing it with Jeans. I did just purchase the 12 Rules for Life book. Thanks for the suggestions and video Antonio

I have to admit, I had my expectations outlined after the first jacket (which made me think of a Medieval Court Jester), and firmly set after the black suit (it looks to me more like a bastardization of Black Tie, because of the multiple buttons closing the single breasted jacket, and the vest cut far too high for evening wear), *however* I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the rest of these! I'd definitely go for more conservative linings, but I really like the basic colors, fabrics, and cuts of these garments!

Rule No. 7: Adam and Eve had a meaningful assignment - Become many and fill the earth and subdue it. They could have really developed the Garden so that it grew to fill the entire planet. They could have kids that were perfect. They could have lived forever in perfection and working to develop a perfect human family. But nooo, Eve was deceived into gaining "knowledge" and eating the forbidden fruit, and Adam decided to side with Eve instead of taking a stand and not eating the fruit. Later on he blamed Eve..

I think I know what he means with rule number 7. Abel was blessed because he did what he had to do, he worked hard and made sacrifices, he pursued what was meaningful. Cain cut corners, he was more focused on pleasing himself, rather than pleasing God. He wasn't blessed, and that led him to resentment.
@at.8887
@at.8887 10 ай бұрын
but the painting is the Garden of Eden, wouldn't it somehow refer to Adam and Eve?
@pedroc3948
@pedroc3948 10 ай бұрын
@@at.8887 Indeed Cain and Abel were born outside of Eden, after their parents were expelled, so you have a point. While I still think their story is a pretty good illustration to this rule, maybe JP had another thing in mind. Pursuing meaning (walking with God) will likely send you to heaven (Eden), while pursuing the mundane (eating the apple) will likely send you to hell. For those who are not religious, and look to comprehend the Bible in a metaphorical, more practical way. Heaven is the result of good choices. A life lived in a moral and meaningful way. Heaven could be getting old with good health, surrounded by a big family that loves you. Hell is the result of bad choices, a life lived in sin. Hell could be getting old lonely, with no family, or sick with STDs, morbid obesity, or lung cancer, for example. I'm not saying tragedy will never strike good people, it certainly does, you can get lung cancer without ever having smoked, for example. But even when it does, having lived a properly moral life will make things way easier, because you'll have support and peace of mind, and things won't be as bad as they could've been otherwise.
