I'm an Independent and I'm not a "conservative" but I fully support Trump and my goodness, if you love the USA and want to see our country prosper than you're MAGA. MAGA simply means Make America Great Again. Right now, things aren't great. Personally, I want our country be better than ever before.
@claytonallen30142 ай бұрын
As an independent, and someone who truly loves America, I don’t see how any patriotic, democracy loving American could vote for Donald Trump. Primarily because of the fake electors scheme, calling on Mike Pence to overturn the election, the call to raftenzburger trying to get him to find 11,000 votes ‘wink-wink’. Questioning the results of an election is perfectly fine, but not after 60-some court cases and thousands of people corroborating the fact that there was no wide-spread voter fraud. It is this fact that I don’t believe Trump is good for America as it perpetuates conspiratorial thinking and lies.

Currently, I am an independent voter, but was raised in a very liberal, politically savvy family. So, I remained a Democrat until my mid-40's. Once I stopped identifying as a Democrat, my democratic "Friends" were outraged. Especially when Trump came along. The outrage was overwhelming. Anger, vulgarity, insults to intelligence-never once questioned previously, were all considered perfectly proper. My compassionate, open minded liberal friends and family, who could once carry on with hours and hours of political conversations, are so outraged to hear an opposing point of view, that political conversations are just not allowed. For more than some people, your political position has become a litmus test for your morality. I find this outrageous.

Advocating killing babies until birth and letting ablution survivors die on the table, calling your political opponent "literally Hitler", supporting terrorists, lying about man's influence on climate change, racism against whites, schism against men, hatred of heterosexuals, bringing in alien invaders, screwing over hurricane victems, etc.

So sick of the “team” aspect of politics. Used to be a conservative Republican, now I don’t know what I am. I’m more socially moderate, fiscally conservative. Haven’t voted for either major party since 2012. It has caused me to lose friendships with some of my conservative friends who demanded I play on the team. I’m done and waiting for a third party to get its shit together. I’ll hang there until I die and won’t play into the two party mess that is currently in place. Some of my conservative would label me a “liberal” or “socialist” because I would challenge some of their views. They’ve broken off contact because I didn’t agree with them. I expected this behavior from the left but not from the right. Some insist I be as outraged as them or I can’t have a label they approve of.

Mike, I'm stealing this from a ground news reporter, Peter Santenello, who has a KZbin video "They Ruined My Hometown" about Burlington, Vermont. At one point he discusses "destructive empathy," which is when you care deeply but do not consider the secondary, third, and forth-level consequences of your caring. To me, this concept explains a giant difference between the right and left, with the right digging into consequences but also rarely considering such deep empathy, and the left not acknowledging the subsequent results of their empathy.

I've seen Kat on Fox News (mostly when Gutfeld had a night-time show - I've not watched Fox News, for approx. 8 year); and appreciated her personality & style of humor of humor. Listening to her on this podcast, she seems to be alot more "at home" (open/ non-performative, authentic, and I really like her. Am enjoying this. Btw: I also grew up in a "Very" Catholic family, Catholic school, all the rules, shame, guilt, etc. So, I had to walk away because I felt, staying in Catholicism, would make me hypocritical, and for me, at that time, that would be a greater evil; because I wanted to do things that broke rules, I couldn't reconcile , nor justify, within the faith. Know, as a mature, old woman, I am grateful for the Catholic teachings and the spiritual identity/knowledge that I inherited from it. I've always believed in the faith, I just had no way of understanding the "hierarchal structures", specifically: priests, whom (as a child & young teen) I found to be very arrogant and aloof/detached. It was unsettling and scary. And then, Vatican City, the "Pope", the entire political/"power structure", was all too much. it took me up until the past cpl years to pray for acceptance, for understanding, and while I still am not 100% "there". I cherish the fact that my family & my ancestors, going back, only God knows how long, kept sacred, kept Catholicism as - highly important in their daily lives/family lives, and as the "Way" to follow Christ, God, etc. - our Christian Faith of Catholicism. I'm now at a place where I keep an attitude of gratitude, and view my religion as a very precious, rich inheritance. And, I leave the, "political & personalities", kinda "checked", within the structure of the Catholic Church's Operations. And, as for the teachings, faith, sacraments, observances, ... those I am now happy to follow, imperfectly. But, with a desire to grow closer to, always. And, am grateful & at peace with myself. I also realize that the part of me that expects perfection, is not helpful, nor is it necessary...and, it can and does cause me more anguish and has lead me to quitting vs. reminding myself that God loves me, He knows my heart, and I do better when I persist in maintaining a constant, conscious relationship with God, believing in myself in relationship with my faith, .. and accepting I will likely continue to develop a more unified communion with God, remembering that He is leading me, and that I'm not alone. And, understanding that imperfection or, "falling short" is not hypocrisy. Sorry for over-sharing. But, Kat's comment about faith, was/is relatable. BTW: "the weed IS too strong! Damn it" - I once loved smoking (weed/hash/honey oil), daily! And " IT really agreed with me" (this was 40 yrs ago..lol). And, I sometimes envy my friends and family that still can and do. Of course, now, where I live, weed is as common and readily available as a cup of coffee (which, I also have no tolerance for ..lol.) So, for some mysterious reason, about 8 yrs. after I started smoking(thc), I could no longer tolerate. Funny how we change. Loving this podcast, Mike does. And, getting to know more about Kat has been a treat. Thanks & Blessings! 🙏🙏

As a pretty staunch Republican, I never thought of Kat as anyone other than interesting. Why do we differ? What is her point and why is it her point? What she says is worth thinking about. Has she changed my mind about a topic? I don’t think so but I’ve genuinely appreciated her take on things. It’s good to hear someone who either comes at a point from a different angle or just has a different point to make.

Hey Kat! I’m a conservative from Texas! I absolutely love your outlook on life! You are very refreshing and honest in a world that seems to want to see life as absolute instead of a reality that is myriad of ideas and experiences shape us on a daily basis. Being able to find humor instead of outrage at our current political culture is what will help change it back to being reasonable.

I’ve seen Kat on some Fox vids, but now I have a new appreciation for her. I wish Mike was going to run for office, but at least he’s giving people like this a platform.

Im definitely with Kat & Mike about there not being enough help for veterans. But on the other hand, there isnt always a solution. Some people will experience war & it will fuck them up so badly, they will never be whole. Not every problem has a solution, but we still need to try

Great interview. I've read Ms. Timpf's stuff when she was a young "reporter" for National Review a few years ago. I love her sense of humor and her refusal to back down.

My mom died at 4:15 am on Nov. 6, 2016. She was great woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend. The world changed that day, and it had nothing to do with who was or was not elected president. My mom was 72. She lived thru many presidents. Some she like and some she did not, but in the end, she would have said she lived a great life in the greatest country in the world. Who wins in 2024 will not be the end of the world. How we treat each other is what matters.

End of the World? We are at greater risk of nuclear war than we were during the Cuban missile crisis... Electing Kamala Harris is another step closer to ending civilization and/or the constitution
