For part 2 and the final episode in our first look at "Resilience with Richard Cabral" Richard Cabral sits down with his cousin, Primo Paulie, to unpack their shared history of trauma, addiction, and resilience. From harrowing childhood experiences to battles with substance abuse and incarceration, Paulie's raw honesty shines a light on the challenges faced by many in underserved communities.
Watch as he reveals how fatherhood, spirituality, and the support of Homeboy Industries transformed his life, offering hope and inspiration to those still struggling. This conversation is a testament to the power of resilience and the possibility of change, no matter how dire the circumstances.

The drug stories sound like something you'd hear from a bunch of bikers or skinheads. But if your from these areas you'll realize how much drugs influence ppls upbringing. I couldn't imagine growing up in the hood & not doing drugs tbh. With all the fucked up shit & trauma it's inevitable.

One of the best Podcast I listened to in a minute. Primo Paulie is the man, I wish nothing but good things for that Man. I felt his pain & struggle, Im a Navajo 38 yrs old & Ive been to prison & had a bad drinking problem & grew up around some abusive men & seen lots of crazy things during my up bringing, I could relate a little to Paulies story, I shared a few tears with him and Im so glad I got to hear his story. Ive been sober for 18yrs now & I have a little boy and beautiful lady, life is a blessing and it can get hard sometimes, but its part of our journey and we do hold keys to all the doors, lets all keep opening up the good doors. I love you guys and thank you very much for sharing your story. Keep up the good work Richard , i look up to you in so many ways & im very proud of you my brotha 💯🙏🏽

Right after that we had a meeting about how we don’t live by street codes and all this shit that for sure came about from that situation haha Richard came through one time and all of us were tripping lol anyways shoutout to Paul man couldn’t say a bad word about him if I tried much love and respect 👊👊💯🫡🫡

I commend the both of you for the courage and strength it takes to be vulnerable here on this platform, it was like sitting with cousins recounting some wild stories, some we were all there for and some stories just told to live vicariously through the laughs and lessons learned. I miss my brothers almost everyday so I thank you for that. I laughed so hard with the donut story, my brothers and I have known a similar story to that so that one had me! Some of us as kids lived through a lot of traumatic experiences but looking back on things like the donut story we can't help but have a laugh and thank the lord for our sense of humor and that things turned out alright. Sometimes I say we've gotta have some kind of sense of humor to have lived through so much... But I have to say you both hit the nail on the head recognizing generational trauma and how you've welcomed in the generational healing, that in itself takes a lot of strength and is a beautiful thing to get to witness. You have a beautiful soul Paulie, you're a being of light and despite all that you've been through its never dimmed. 🙏💗 You two keep pushing, keep your faith and spirituality strong, stay prayed up! I too believe in the power of prayer and its heartwarming to see the testimonies of others from all walks of life, no specific religion to note necessarily but just being a spiritual being....it always amazes me! Blessings and love to the two of you, thank you for sharing. 💞💗

I love this series with Richard I hope y’all keep it. Paulie congratulations on your sobriety and fatherhood. I love how you love serving people and how much love you get and give in that interaction. I think that’s why you love it. Amazing lives please keep this up. Love listening and being a kid who grew up in disfunction I can relate to a lot of this. Next time I’m in LA I hope I can make it to Tepito Coffee.

I'm glad that you guys are telling your story. I'm also Mexican American I can't relate because I didn't have this childhood my parents were and are amazing parents but I hope that you guys in turning around your lives are really affecting not only strangers around you but your own family to be different and do different.. It sounds cliche but once one member of a family tree decides to go a different direction then everyone else after you has an opportunity to also choose a different direction. God bless you both Thank you for giving us some insight into what led you to some of the choices that you made and I'm glad that you listen to God and started making the right decisions for your soul and not sure if either of you has children. Having a parent that does good for the world is going to make a world of difference❤

These homies are a trip. It's sad, but at the same time good to see the conversation to be had. I hope the homie Paulie continues to heal. Homie truly went through a lot of shit. Much love & respect.

Richard- speaks with so much passion and truth. If anyone has anything negative to say… you never lived or been through any of it. This is hands down what a podcast should be. 🫡
