In this lesson, we will continue the discussion on the topic of motion control. All of us at RealPars, hope you have been following our previous lessons on motion control and have begun to benefit from these lessons.
Now you will apply your base knowledge of Servo and Stepper motors in this lesson towards how to determine the correct Servo Motor for your application.
In this lesson, you will learn the information required to help you size the motor based on payload, speed, acceleration and other requirements necessary for the desired application.

3:52 wrong, the more ENERGY will be needed. energy is force multiplied by distance, so counter-force does not necessarily need to change to counter the change in mass; the distance of travel could be the factor that changes, and most likely would be the variable since friction (the main counter-force) usually remains constant.
@realpars
@realpars 2 жыл бұрын
When two objects interact (puck and ice), each one exerts a force on the other that can cause energy to be transferred to or from the object. The puck exerts a force of mass x gravity on the ice, and the ice exerts a frictional force (albeit relatively small) on the puck. And you are correct, it is the transfer of energy that causes the puck to eventually stop.

The market may have changed because of COVID-19. Depending on your application, size and package types will vary with manufacturers as you may already know. Also, you may want to consider stepper motors and watch the RealPars video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJfUioFnmqxskM0, to help you make the correct choice. Here are few manufacturers to consider, that indicates they have support in S. Africa, (I do not endorse any of the following companies, however, they have been in the industry, worldwide, for many years): Kollmorgen: www.kollmorgen.com/en-us/where-to-buy/ Omron: industrial.omron.co.za/en/products/servo-systems Oriental Motors (support form Europe): www.orientalmotor.com/company/global-support.html

Hi Mate, I am going to carry a steel pallet (overall weight of 700 kg) over rollers with 2 stepper motors on each sides, do you reckon "Nema 42 CNC Stepper Motor Bipolar 30Nm" is enough for this application?
@realpars
@realpars 3 жыл бұрын
It will likely be sufficient. If 30Nm is the torque developed, this will likely work with a 1500 RPM motor. The duty should be rated then for 6.5 amps or greater. Even though you have four motors, I would still calculate based on the unlikely event of one motor on each side failing.

@realpars
@realpars Жыл бұрын
What are you trying to do? Connect two motors in series? In parallel? AC or DC? Or do you want to connect two pumps with independent motors in series? Parallel? Add some context, since the answer is different in each case. For starters, you would not electrically connect 2 AC motors in series for any reason. Each will run at reduced voltage and ultimately overheat without producing any more useful work than a single motor.

Hi there, Thank you for your question! This video was created four years ago with Omron drives. Not sure what version was used, but I am sure it’s been updated. Therefore, I can’t be sure which software version was used. But you can go to their website and find the drives product line. Companies that make drives provide the software too at a cost. However, you might find some free ones with limited usage. You can check any major motor manufacturers line like Siemens and others. Hope this helps!

how to configure Absolute encoder in PLC and if encoder is replaced then do I need to reconfigure?also, will the length of connecting cable have any effect on configuration?
@realpars
@realpars 5 жыл бұрын
Encoders are configured in a PLC in many ways. The best way is to use a separate servo motor controller, as shown in the video. The configuration of the encoder is handled as part of the servo controller setup. Absolute encoders typically send voltage signals in a serial data stream via a protocol called SSI. Siemens makes an SSI encoder interface card (6FX3002-2DB30-1BF0) that is not very expensive. The card can be configured to meet the specific resolution and parameters required by your encoder. Some encoders come with a more advanced interface, such as ProfiNet, so they can be directly added to your hardware configuration and configured using special OB blocks developed for interface to the device. If you swap out encoders later on, no additional configuration is required as long as it has the same interface, resolution, signal frequency and voltage level. Otherwise, it may require changing some of the parameters in the encoder interface. If the encoder has a serial (SSI) interface, then cable length is only an issue once you approach about 16m (50 feet).
@tamerfahmy6572
@tamerfahmy6572 5 жыл бұрын
ThanksActually the encoder being used is yes an SSI-P for PROFIBUS (10-30 Volts) and comes in 2 models, one to be used with 10m cable (33FT) and the other model used with 30m (90 Ft) cable.so my question here is; if by accident they where swapped as encoder; 10 meter model used with 30 meter cable and the 30 meter cable was used with the 10 meter cable what would be corrective action to be done at the resistance terminator or at the PROFIBUS?

Can I lift 10kg weight by using 48 DC volt motor? If yes, how much torque and power I need for that?
@realpars
@realpars 3 жыл бұрын
Power = force x velocity = Mass x g x velocity. If you want to lift the weight at a rate of 0.1m/sec, then a 10kg weight will require P = 10 x 9.81 x 0.1 = 9.8W, not accounting for friction or other losses. Assume losses are 50%, so your motor will need to deliver about 20W of power. Torque will depend on the way you are lifting the object: screw jack, ball screw, rope and pulley, etc., so it will depend on screw pitch, orientation (lifting vs. levering), pulley diameter, etc. A 48VDC motor will do the trick provided it can deliver the required power at the required torque to lift the mass.
