I’m from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and the idea that a foot of snow would close roads makes me laugh. Especially since it was already melting!

galinda91 it's just the roads in and out. It's a rather steep winding not so great road at the best of times.

When we lived in Queensland didn't have a heater, just put on an extra layer if a bit chilly but now living in Tasmania definitely run wood fire throughout the season.

I heard a myth that in Australia, when the weather is hot, it's scorching hot. And when it's rainy and cold, the amount of rain is enormous. Is that true?
@ChrisH133878

It depends where about in Australia you are referring to. In the tropics we get 1-3m of rain a year, mostly in the Wet Season. And a very cold night for us is 14 Celsius in deepest winter. But we don't get the 45C+ days of summer that Melbourne gets, for us a nice summer day (Wet Season) is mid to high 30sC in the beautifully humid wet season.

@@ChrisH133878 Beautifully humid? Mate the humidity gets above 90% sometimes and its AWFUL. Feeling sweaty 24/7, can't dry clothes without a dryer, any and all fabrics that get wet will get moldy within 2 days. Soe people's hoes actually grow old if they haven't repainted in a good few years. Not to mention it can feel like a chore to breathe. You sure you live in the tropics? lol

I lived in Cairns for 11 years, never had a heater, didnt even need one. Most people who live in North Queensland, Northern Territory and Parts of Western Australia only need a Air conditioner. NO HEATERS. Even winters are hot an humid.

I live in the suburbs of Perth, just south of the city. This year we've had a fairly cold one....but not a huge amount of rain. Longest Ive gone without seeing rain was 117 days, that was a few years ago now. When it does rain, particularly when it rains in summer, its usually accompanied by thunder storms, with those we PRAY it rains, and Im not religious, because otherwise we may well get a bush fire caused by lightening strike. We often get weeks on end over 35 deg C. Our coldest night this winter was 3 deg C.....but its never that cold for long. Oh look.....the coppers are chasing a Pom in Port Kennedy......the next suburb from where I am, what a shock....not.

Ummm... How does one "Cure a Snowboard Incident"? Was it a Metastatic snowboard incident or a chronic snowboard incident? Thank god it wasn't recurring snowboard incident.

Interesting about the difference in land area Sydney takes up relative to its population compared to London. I had no idea London was crammed into such a tiny space! As an American I think most of our cities are more like Sydney...spread over a larger land area with lower population density, and city limits sometimes even starting out in the country with the city center nowhere in sight. San Antonio comes to mind as a big example of that.
