The only reason some of the dialogue is quieter is that the paramedics working with documentary teams are most likely wearing lavalier microphones... therefore their voice is a lot louder compared to those of the people around them.

I moved to Australia from America ten years ago. One of the best parts about this show, to me at least, is that all this healthcare is pretty much free. Ambo ride might be 300 bucks, heli ride’s gunna be a bit more, but not like the 100,000 dollar nightmares you hear about back home in the states. Australia IS the lucky country!!

@Kaitlin Melissa you learn about the active dying process, how cultures grieve and approach death, along with learning the reality of our own eventual end by preparing your own funeral! As a person who works in the funeral industry, I love how different cultures have their own way of dealing with death. Is there are any aboriginals or someone who knows about aboriginal culture watching this who can explain the reason behind the having to move out of the decedents home, I am genuinely curious.
@linanae14 жыл бұрын
It is cultural. All members of the family are to meet in one place, say one persons house or a tent as shown, to grieve and mourn for a period of days or even weeks until the body of the deceased has been buried or cremated. Death is a very culture sensitive thing to the Aboriginals, to the point where you can not even say the name or show images of the deceased and the person informing the family of their passing absolutely MUST be another aboriginal. It is all about embrace, family/community and sorrow. The whole aboriginal community joins the grieving process, close family or far-extending family.
@sterlingodeaghaidh50864 жыл бұрын
Ravena That is so fascinating, so what about the having to move out, do they mean permanently or just til the body is laid to rest?
@linanae14 жыл бұрын
@@sterlingodeaghaidh5086 it's probably so that they do not disturb the spirit of the passed, before the spirit has fully rejoined with the land. So once the funeral or mourning is over they may go back

It is amazing how well their medical care is and do the patients have to pay for an ambulance or an air ambulance? In the United States it is around $1600.00 just for a regular ambulance.
@heatherrowles25805 жыл бұрын
Unless you have ambulance insurance, you pay for road ambulance services.....except for pensioners....but road ambulance insurance is around $100/family each year. The air ambulance is covered by our medicare system which every permanent resident or citizen pays for in their taxes, we pay a 2% levy, and covers the vast majority of medical costs. We also have a pharmaceutical benefits scheme which gives us massively discounted medications. If we didnt, I'd be dead.

What you are talking about is HIPAA law where they're not allowed to tell others your personal medical information without consent. If you are mentally competent, they must tell you what's happening and you must agree to treatment so your original statement is incorrect.
