Pattern recognition from three years of study gets me a correct guess of stress location of a new word maybe 35-40% of the time😅 it’s really anxiety inducing when reading material out loud in my class, but it’s a small thrill every time I pronounce one correctly first try😂 honestly though there are lots of times that I give in to the fear of butchering the pronunciation, и говорю учительнице «эх, даже не знаю где находится ударение здесь..» 😅

Interesting, Spanish also have this rule of one single stressing syllable, it can change the noun's meaning or verb's tense. So this is why some songs I listen to have weird meaning in the translator at times.

Also worth mentioning that in Russian the stressed "o" sounds like "o", but unstressed "o" sounds like "a". Unless you're in Moscow, apparently. 😜

I really like these highly educational videos, it keeps me motivated to keep on learning Russian. I do have to admit that I've done funny mistakes with the homonyms and the stress marks and because of that, several teachers and my friends have corrected me and explained the meaning. Due to this, I've learned a lot and I've been having lots of fun. That's my approach to learning, make it fun and it sticks. I do have to say that your course both here in KZbin and your premium course were my first approach to my interest in learning Russian. Учитель, большое спасибо за курсы. Мне очень нравится изучать русский язык.

The correct stressing is difficult for me, because the accent is usually not marked in the Russian text. My keyboard also doesn't have an accent mark for Cyrillic fonts. I however know a (tricky) way to put an accent mark in Cyrillic text as well. The Finnish language is much easier. The stress is always on the first syllable of the word.
