No one really hears the voice of us Iranian people Another interesting law, which is the most brutal, is that if a father sees a mistake in his child, he can kill his child according to the order of Islam, but Islamic law says that because the father created his child, he can also end his life. This is such an extraordinary documentary on so many levels. Almost each of these micro-stories has a very dramatic arc but with moments of tenderness and even humour. The incredible ability of the women to fight for their rights, still hoping they will obtain them, even though they constantly hit a brick wall, are judged as always being at fault, and are even given so many hurdles to jump and expected to renounce was nothing short of inspiring. Even the very young woman and the child had a mature and determined way of expressing themselves. What is heartbreaking (among the many terribly sad things) is that these men refuse to pay the women what was promised, which is important because the price was also based on them being virgins, (therefore less valuable in further marriages) and being there to serve and obey, even when the men did almost nothing to be worthy of all this obedience. I truly hope that at some point the filmmakers are able to find these people and let them talk about how their lives progressed. I was also stunned that there were no real professional figures to assist these women, that they would write their petitions on the street. The judge already knew what he wanted the result to be as soon as he laid eyes on the women. Telling a woman to change and “win back” her husband who was cruel and controlling was all he could think of to say. As if the fault of divorce was always with the women being unable to please the men. So much food for thought here, and so much admiration for these women who deserve so much more.

They don't know GOD, if they did they wouldn't live this way. Their many prayers won't give them eyes to see and ears to hear because they are spiritually blind. They are praying to a god made up by a man who was insane. In these societies women and children are a man's property, he owns them. So if there is a divorce she is sent away but he keeps the children; they belong to him. They rip these women and children apart mercilessly. In America, the children stay with the mother, unless they can prove that she is unfit, they stay with the woman that nurtured them from the womb and birthed them and the man is held financially responsible for ensuring that his child is taken care of and that he maintains a relationship with his child. These people don't know how to live. It's so sad that they continue in ignorance throughout the ages.
@mohammadsalman575 жыл бұрын
You may not like this law but I think it keeps in mind the well being of the children first and foremost, what grantees do the mother or judge has that the new step father won't abuse or hurt the children when their biological dad is well capable of caring for them, we have seen sad stories about this quite a bit in the west especially with female children. Overall It's a fascinating glimpse into the social fabric of Iran. While it's easy now to preach women rights, 1500 years ago, Islam brought many rights to women centuries before the west, the right to inherit, run business, work, study, vote and fight. Generally speaking If you look at the root cause of all these problems and divorce proceedings they are no different than any other place in the word, they drill down to money, child custody, or abusive relationships regardless of the laws. The girl who was 15 years old when she got married, big deal? marriage age in Canada just few years ago was 14 and now it's up to 16. So it's not crazy around many places in the world to marry girls that young. The official age for marriage in Iran is 13 but only with family and clerk approval. of course the clerk was mistaken. The age of the prophets wife Aisha wasn't 9 when he married her. As we know at the time there was no birth certificates, Aisha age at that time was at least 20 years compared to her sister Sukaina's age and other major events around that time.

@sylvanabecker54435 жыл бұрын
American Boys I must correct your knowledge sir. A 9 year old girl, has not reached puberty at that age...this is the onset of puberty. Justified as an accepted norm with social and financial benefits, child marriage has little or no benefit for the young girls themselves, who are more vulnerable to domestic violence, more likely to be uneducated, and more likely to bear children before they are physically ready. Indeed, some young brides who die every year as a result of pregnancy or childbirth complications, early marriage is a death sentence. Approximately 16 million girls aged 15 to 19 years and 2.5 million girls under 16 years give birth each year in developing countries. Complications during pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death for 15 to 19 year-old girls globally. Adolescent mothers (ages 10 to 19 years) face higher risks of eclampsia, puerperal endometritis, and systemic infections than women aged 20 to 24 years. Adolescent pregnancy remains a major contributor to maternal and child mortality, and to intergenerational cycles of ill-health and poverty. So, you actually believe that 9 year old girl, because she has started menstration, can take on the responsibilities of being a wife and mother??

Both are the opposite of capitalism, where limitations don’t exist and reward comes to those who go beyond the minimum. In capitalist societies, owners are allowed to keep the excess production they earn. And competition occurs naturally, which fosters advancement. However, capitalism also tends to create a sharp divide between the wealthiest citizens and the poorest, with the wealthiest owning the majority of the nation's resources. I don’t know what the answer is, but the extreme in either socialism or capitalism in not a benefit to society as a whole.

It's a fascinating glimpse into the social fabric of Iran. While it's easy now to preach women rights, 1500 years ago, Islam brought many rights to women centuries before the west, the right to inherit, run business, work, study, vote and fight. But some general observations on the videos, If you look at the root cause of all these problems and divorce proceedings they are no different than any other place in the word, they drill down to money, child custody, or abusive relationships. The girl in the video was 15 when she got married, marriage age in Canada just few years ago was 14 and now it's up to 16.

@travelleryu4 жыл бұрын
@disherdismore Well I used to be a very religious muslim at one point in my life. The thing about islam, is that it's like the communist cult of personality (I still like many aspects of communism, as I got the opportunity to visit alot of the muslim majority nations that were formerly a part of the USSR and I was stunned by the freedom women have. For instance, the culture in Termez was so different from Afganistan literally a stones thrown away. I personally agree with what Carl Marx and Khrushchev said regarding religion). If you read the quran (it's probably not as long as the new testament and the old testament so you might finish it real quick), you would know. The world is starkly divided into muslims and non-muslims. That's why even tyrants like Saddam Hussein have such a popular support; atleast they were far from being utterly delusional religious fanatics that only wreak havoc. And if you ask me we MUST put a priority to women empowerment (which the USSR did much better than many western nations including Japan). There would be much less of economical inequality and young people resorting to fanaticism. As a sidenote, some of the elites should also stop bitching on the partition of India as the constitution of Pakistan can still be changed if we tried hard enough.
