@alveolate7 жыл бұрын
well, many people wouldn't have heard what the scientists' predictions were if al gore didn't do his part. his language (and career) may have been imprecise, but just like how he played a pivotal role in getting the internet started off, he also did so in establishing the conversation about climate change. back before the inconvenient truth, most people did not realise the impact had already hit some places (and that was 20 years ago, geez), and most people did not realise celebrities could really draw attention to such issues in a personal and involved manner. al gore didn't "just" told you about it, he told a generation about it who might otherwise be ignorant denialists on the wrong side of history today. if anything, i wish he'd been able to to tell MORE people about it.

Hefner did more for civil rights, LGBT rights, and the black community than any of the people on the show ever has or will. He was a big supported and FUNDER of Martin Luther King, and many other civil rights icons. Martin Luther King gave his longest interview on record to Playboy magazine. Also, this nutcase April Ryan says you're supposed to ALWAYS see every facet of someone's life when you're looking at them. Oh, really? So, if she were hiring someone to do a job for her, would she look at their life's struggles and all facets of their personality, or would she just find someone who's going to provide the greatest value for the least money? These people are so hypocritical in their real life dealings. They just come up with nonsense that they spout off on talk shows and in magazines, which they never live by, and which rarely have any internal logical consistency.

@maskedmarvyl47747 жыл бұрын
No, but he had them sign unfair contracts where they could not profit from their own pictures, no matter how they were used or how many times they were republished, except for a minimal initial flat fee. His "Playboy Clubs" in the 1960s were notorious for how they overworked women while paying them minimally, and were eventually all closed down when their practices got out, and Hefner knew of their practices. So, no gun, but a hell of a lot of exploitation, which Hefner was never held accountable for, but should have been.

I can't stand women harping on about the objectification of women. Is she genuinely suggesting that when women slaver over a picture of a ripped, shirtless male, below the surface they're taking time to admire every other aspect of his make up. Bullshit. The difference is men suck it up. It fact they don't. They just don't get their panties in a twist about it in the first place. This is what makes feminism so intolerable. The insistence of applying it to every faction of life. Women want the best of both. To be powerful, but also to be the victim.
