+Chris Thompson But they are they can't disagree with what is written in the party platform! Preserving and Protecting Traditional Marriage The institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. Its success as an institution will determine our success as a nation. It has been proven by both experience and endless social science studies that traditional marriage is best for children. Children raised in intact married families are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to use drugs or alcohol, engage in crime, or get pregnant outside of marriage. The success of marriage directly impacts the economic well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the future of marriage affects freedom. The lack of family formation not only leads to more government costs, but also to more government control over the lives of its citizens in all aspects. We recognize and honor the courageous efforts of those who bear the many burdens of parenting alone, even as we believe that marriage, the union of one man and one woman must be upheld as the national standard, a goal to stand for, encourage, and promote through laws governing marriage. We embrace the principle that all Americans should be treated with respect and dignity.

+Pete Ivey nay i say canada should build a wall between us and the states and make donald trump pay for it.... i hear the dumbest things ever come out of your politicians mouth..... you literally have a member of the oligarchy running for president instead of protesting you have actually humoured a guy that wants you poor. a guy that owes 600 million more than the just over 2 billion he owns. get your heads out of your asses the only reason people want small government is so they can get away with treating others with less and less respect all in the name of making the 1% more money. the economy has been hurting since 2008. teachers police other government positions have experience wage freezes for years while ceos are cashing over 100 million dollars just in bonuses. why would you want to go take on a country like mexico and make them build a wall. you want the economy to get better do the one thing everyone knows that works. take money from the extremely rich and give it to the poor because the poor will use it to stimulate the economy up to 7 times more effectively than the money given to corporations through tax breaks. most of the 1%'s money sits in accounts in other countries off shore, used to invest in india china mexico and then they get on the news and tell us how bad china's economy is kicking our ass, or how immigrants are the ones that drive wages down. corporate america wants a lower minimum wage? like how can you pay people any less here. on average each walmart opened costs the government 100,000$ in food stamps etc. so wake the fuck up america because if trump gets in the walls going up.... and the funny thing to everyone else in the world will be how you guys locked yourselves in a cage for fear of other nations.... which is the exact opposite standing the fathers of the declaration had. trump you are more like a british imperialist and less like an america everyday.... you want america great again stop ruining it with cheap shit made overseas for your own profit and start paying into the machine that built your empire.

+Pete Ivey fuck clinton's donors. the closest thing you guys have to a presidential candidate is bernie sanders. because he is a socialist we know he won't get in. the next 10 years will be shitty for you guys either way. bernie and trump wants to spend spend spend cruz wants to carpet bomb the middle east and put up sandals resorts on the bones of our foes, and i'm not even recognizing hilary as a person not because she is a female but because i believe she is a robot programed by the largest donor. atleast if bernie spends you know it's coming out of the pockets of wall street.... in the 1950's corporate taxes reached about 50% and thats no where near the highest tax margin they have had to pay. so why is corporate america now only paying a marginal 24-15% tax rate rate. that means the country is getting half of what we used to from corporate america. the government's number 1 commodity is their workers. it's time to start squeezing the money owed to the system back out of the "patriots" that move thousands of jobs overseas all in the interest of increasing profit margins that are already high due to the extremely low tax margins for the extremely rich. from 1951-1964 the top tax rate was over 50% for a top tax bracket of 25,000$. today the top tax rate is 39.1% for the top tax bracket of 18.333 million. which comparred to the 100's of billions given to wall street employee's and "bonuses" or bankrupt companies buying planes with our money...... sorry you had to be the rant of the day

It would appear the "Attorney" couldn't grasp the concept that if "dual Citizenship" wasn't allowed when Mr. Cruz was born, and his mother was a Canadian Citizen (evidenced by her Canadian voting status), she would have GIVEN UP her American Citizenship to become a "voting" Canadian Citizen. My wife's dad was born in NY. When he was a few years old, his parents moved back to Italy where my wife (his daughter) was born years later. The INS says she's NOT a US citizen. Pleas tell me what's the difference???
@tysonbarnes-garcia2154

+Pappa Bob She is not a citizen ( depending when she was born and that matters but in general) because he did not live in the US for enough years after is 14th birthday. Cruz very well might be a citizen the point is he is not a natural born citizen and there is a difference.
@pappabob29

+Pappa Bob The law that people are citing to for that is the INA and you can look in chapter 3 sections 301 and 309 to be specific. That is why I said it depends on when she was born because the law was first passed in 1952 i think but has been amended a bunch and it depends on what law was in effect when she was born as to the number of years. You can read more here which is probably more accurate than me at nearly 3 am with a few drinks. www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartH-Chapter3.html

The lady votes for the elected officials in 2 countries? WTF?!?!?! There should be time requirements (required to stay in the country for x amount of months... greater than 6) to vote in any country. If you live abroad but are an American citizen, yes you pay double taxes... but If you live in America and are a UK citizen, as far as I know, you do not have to pay extra taxes in the UK. That lady has a terrible lack of morals if she is actually voting for officials in 2 counries.

@aerostyle2172
@aerostyle2172 8 жыл бұрын
***** Umm... you seem to be misunderstanding something. She says she is voting in 2 different countries, the US and UK... NOT 2 different states. Voting in 2 different states is 110% illegal for reasons you, for some reason, don't understand... but I'll try to explain it to you. Every US citizen legally gets one vote. If you vote for federal representatives in one state, and then vote for federal representatives in another which you do not reside in, other than being VERY illegal, that is granting you a potential additional vote. If people were able to vote in 2 states for, lets say President, there would be a BUNCH of people voting in their resident state, then running to swing states like Florida. Even in local elections, every vote counts... but local elections do not effect you as much if you do not reside in that specific area. Voting in 2 states is already illegal. If I have this wrong, I will place my foot in my mouth... but this isn't the issue at hand in the first place. The issue at hand is the question of voting in 2 completely different countries. I do not know if that is illegal, but it is certainly immoral in my books and should be unethical as well.

+Aerostyle I am not familiar with Canadian or international law, but I know that it is illegal to vote in two different states in the United States. Federal Law requires a person to have the intent to live in the state for a certain amount of time before they can vote in that state. If they are not intending to stay in that state, they can only vote in the state they are domiciled, i.e., intending to live in. I assume that Canadian law works in a similar way. Therefore, what that annoying lady did on the show was clearly illegal, and she is an idiot for saying that on the show. Hopefully, the statute of limitations is not up on that and they throw her ass in jail.

Just a clarification on Ted Cruz. You cannot vote in a Canadian election if you are not Canadian. Having said that Canada does NOT demand that you renounce your citizenship in another country to be a Canadian citizen. The only issue would be if the other country demands that you drop their citizenship to vote in the other country's election. If the US doesn't make that demand on that person then the citizenship holds for both countries. I really think the whole issue is bullshit Cruz is American for all reasonable demands

+Jake Jones Possibly or you're just sensible enough not to jump on a Liberal birther bandwagon. Sure its sweet revenge for the shit Obama with through and far easier as Cruz was born in Canada. Still most of us are not Constitutional scholars let alone lawyers so you rightly just think ones with such qualifications regardless of politics would have more insight into citizenship than random YT anons wanting to be pandered to. Her hair does like a Justin Bieber helmet though, she should fix it....just sayin'.

Did you watch the whole show or just this video? You aren't "left" at all if you watched the full show and had no problem with anything she said, sorry. She is very far right, further than most republicans... she's a libertarian. So if anything you are probably pretty far right.

+Andy K Everything she said about dual citizenship is correct in regards to somebody living in America who is also a citizen of the United Kingdom. The structure of being a dual citizen of Canada and America in 1970 was different, and it's a known fact that Cruz was not born on US soil. She tried to compare it to Donald Trump and his mother who was a foreigner, however Trump WAS born on US soil, so that's a false equivalency.

+saar144 No, its not. You have to be a natural born citizen, with emphasis on the words 'natural born'. It's widely known that Ted Cruz was born in Canada, and he's using the argument that because his mother may have been a citizen that he should also be a citizen, but that still would not solve the problem of not being born within US territory. Trump is probably going to get the nomination anyway so we most likely won't have to worry about this.

The Ghoulish girl was right. The mere fact he asserts the rights of one citizenship does not, without more, mean that he renounces the other", Kawakita v. U.S., 343 U.S. 717 (1952). In Schneider v. Rusk, 377 U.S. 163 (1964), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a naturalized U.S. citizen has the right to return to his native country and to resume his former citizenship, and also to remain a U.S. citizen even if he never returns to the United States.

When people went after Ted Cruz's citizenship, I thought it was BS but poetic justice for that contemptible swine (I don't know if Ted Cruz made birther accusations against President Obama). Ted Cruz “birther” dilemma is that he's certainly an American (unfortunately), but “natural born” is a real question. Being born by a mother who is a US citizen makes him one (but then why all that birther controversy over Obama?), but finding that his Mother registered and voted in the Canadian elections (at least in 1974) automatically revokes her US citizenship since she took an oath of loyalty to Canada and that's how the US laws were then. If she was registered for Canadian voting before she gave birth to her vicious demon-spawn child, then Ted is exempt from being President of the USA. He should be more simply be driven out of the nomination by his horrible and hateful positions, but the grotesque Republican base love that hideous garbage.

Alan Grayson is wrong here. Ted Cruz's mother hadn't lived in Canada long enough to gain Canadian citizenship when Ted Cruz was born, so she couldn't have been a Canadian citizen in 1970. Also, Barack Obama's mother was too young to confer US citizenship which is why where he was born matters.

I laughed hard during the main episode when Liz Mair basically said we shouldn't do anything about Climate Change, but just adapt to it. Good luck adapting to Climate Change when A) your fresh water sources are depleted due to drought, or are contaminated by salt water due to sea level rise, which means B) you can't grow crops, which means C) you can't feed livestock, which means D) you can't feed humans. Just imagine the level of chaos that will occur from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of people that are desperate and starving.

How disingenuous of Liz. Happily voting to influence the outcome in a place she doesn't reside. Must be nice to choose a government that you don't have to suffer the daily consequence of. She's incredibly bourgeoise. Because it's soooooo hard to renounce a Brit citizenship. Please. Cruz isn't eligible, but the hypocrites in the GOP will turn a blind eye cause he isn't black.

I wonder if Bill Maher learns about his audience through the comments sections. Regardless, it makes me glad I only watch for entertainment and to hear occasional opposite opinion not instead of news and your own research. Also, can everyone stop bashing Liz Mair for her looks. Yes the longer she talks the flatter the baritone but who cares? She's smart and Bill Maher has had on his show dumb brawds who just parrot out talking points of whoever they're blowing and I just want them to shut the fuck up and let smarter panelist talk. One more thing, Matt Stone and Trey Parker should host the Oscars then Seth can anytime as long as they do it too.
