My wife and I have two grown daughters. "Treasures Don't Do The Hunting" Great advice.

When I was 15 years old in church, I had my first lecture on Christian marriage. It was great. I didn't have Christian parents, so I wanted to have a Christian family. I remember talking to a lot of older people about this topic looking for advice. Besides all my understanding and good intentions, I never found someone at the right place, at the right time, under feasible circumstances. What I've seen through the years is that it doesn't matter if you are single or married, I've noticed that people with higher income many times enjoy life better. People say that money don't make you happy, but lack of money causes many troubles. A while ago I was comparing two single friends, one with high income and one with low income. It was amazing how money helps. The guy with higher income had a great life. I was on a church single's group for many years, and we could tell with 90% accuracy who would start dating soon or not. People with higher income would always start dating within 6 months of joining the group. I see the same pattern with people with higher income in churches. They always have more friends, they are invited to parties, they travel, and they look more interesting for conversations. Single or married, high income helps a lot.

That was a helpful conversation. I enjoyed the focus upon Christ-centered community as a means for fostering relationships - for finding others. One I thing I do want to suggest, though, is the possible sway our culture has on the position held in this convo, as well as the Church's at large: our culture hates marriage. In the past few decades, much has been at play to cultivate a people that seethes at the thought of marrying. I mean, just look at cohabitation rates - they're higher than ever before, while divorce remains constant. That means people are still quitting their marriages, while many more are completely avoiding them. And what we ultimately see are people charged with "avoid marriage" batteries instilled by their culture. This also contributes to the sexual explosion in our generation: no more do we have to be tied to one person who can't please us, or, who has one too many bad qualities, and hey, this next person looks good! With its murder of the beauty of marriage, our culture has also stolen the well-kept, tender, and private gift of sex... and has utterly exploited it. And certainly, in retrospect, it does make sense to see the pendulum swing into every Christian everywhere trying to get married... so they can have sex. We're trained to want it. We trained to "need" it, we're trained to elevate it above the beauty of what marriage is actually about: love. Ultimately, I think y'all's conversation did a good job at reminding us about the supremacy of Christ, even if we should find a spouse... it outta be within the context of Christ-centered community. On the other hand, our country is growing in its hatred for love, family, and marriage. And, Christendom does need to continue. So, to say "don't seek a wife," at a a time like this - I think that statement falls short. Proverbs 18:22 does say "he who finds a wife," after all - but, indeed, it does finish with "obtains favor from the Lord." So, when we look, and find - glory to God. When we look, and don't find - glory to God. A spouse is a gift, not a right, so, there is a balance that must be recognized... but also a point of emphasis in light of our cultural situation - namely, the Christian Family must come back, which requires marriages.

26, never been in a relationship. I find it difficult to meet Christian guys here in Switzerland, only thing I can do right now is pray.

I’ll be praying for you. In fact, I just paused and prayed. Until that time comes, pursue Jesus. I tell single people this all the time……. Be busy about the great commission. Maybe you will meet your husband while doing so. What could possibly be more romantic than to meet a godly spouse while being an ambassador for Christ 😇

I know exactly why I’m single. I have placed marriage so high on a pedestal I don’t pursue it. I’m extremely fatalistic and fearful in my thinking. It’s ultimately a spirit of unbelief. It’s like I trust Christ for salvation but not for any other material or emotional needs.

I have been divorced more then once I am a Christian and have been in abusive relationship been single for 3 years not pursuing any relationship drawing closer to God and His plan for my life I have repented and asked God to forgive me for all divorce s my xspouses are all in other relationships not that I am even interested in pursuing any relationship at this time but if I were to meet a Godly man that was pursuing Christ and we fell in love would it be biblical for me to marry? Just wondering what your thoughts are on this?
