Hi Matt. Early intermediate 80kg. Really enjoying my HS1550v2 across most winging conditions but want someting for lighter 8-10kts flatwater where my friends use the HS1850 which seems to work well. Would I be better going for the MA1750 instead (guessing the MA1450 be too close in range to the HS1550v2 to justify) ?

Matt are you recommending the 70 fuse for the 1225 as well? Just from a winging point of view with the occasional prone session....

Hi Matt, I'm getting into the sport after many years of kite foiling. Would this 1750 MA be okay to learn on?

Thanks, Matt. I have the MA1750 and use it with the HA235 tail. Have you tried the Glide 220 tail? If you have, how does it compare to the Flow 235 you used in this video? I’ve got the Glide on order and unsure if I should switch to the Flow. I’m looking for glide and pitch stability but also want to be able to turn. My quiver of tails are CF300, HS232 and Flying V.

I have been trying to make sense of ArmstrongHA vs MA series for a while now. From your review it seems like the MA:s mostly has the same glide and efficiency while being more forgiving but the HA:s have a slightly higher top speed. Is that assumption true across the entire ranges? Is the HA series only for those who are chasing the highest top speed? Thank you for your great reviews, they have been really helpful! I would love to hear your opinion on the Appleslice V2 if you have had the chance to try it.

I would say the HA range has a massive amount more glide and efficiency, but the MAs still have a good amount of efficiency and pump, night and day compared to the HS or CF range. The MAs ability to turn and breach is really what sets it apart from any other foil I've ridden though, I will get the whole foil out of the water while proning and it will re-enter the water and stabilize like nothing happened. As for the turning, it's pretty amazing, the ma1000 turns about as well as a chop shop hs1250 but more twitchy and of course loads more glide and speed

The HA has more glide, up wind performance, slightly higher speed, takes more forward speed to get going, takes more speed to stay on foil compared to the MA. MA will be more user friendly, has much better breach recovery, lower stall speed and more front foot kick. The MA is easier to use and the HA is higher performance. Appleslice is a great board. We have some on order. I personally like the Jazz a bit better as it is more stable per size so you can go smaller but both are great.

Would love to see a comparison of stall speed between the ha and ma lines.

Ma had a much lower stall speed. Don’t know how to calculate that short of just feeling it but ma comes in foil easier and stays on foil longer than the ha. Ha is an amazing foil but it takes more speed to keep it going.

Can we add the golden screw to the HA wings?

Yes I’m sure you can. Would need to drill out and counter sink the front wing with the A+ conversion kit.

Hi what is the minimum wind required for each foil ?

There’s a lot of factors that come into play; weight, board efficiency, wing size, etc. I can get foiling with the 1750, 86L Armie DW board, 7M OR in 7-9 mph I think. I’m 65kgs.
