(islam, the only right correct religion in this world) we are the kindest and respectful beautiful people in this world (Muslims) I am a Muslim Woman, we are the Most Valued and respected in islam. Women in muslim countries are Valued, Honored and Respected, and Protected by our family (men). No men and no women will accept this disgusting prostitution in our country. It is disrespectful, disgusting and WORTHLESS woman whio does that, it’s disgusting. No Father want to see his daughter being a worthless slut on street. Killing a human is prohibiten in islam, but she did a very disgusting and shameful thing! Is her fault. A Woman must he modest and precious! And not a disgusting slut. Because of sluts who do this, the men make sins and get lust for such a worthless slut. And then these men lose their respect to a real Valued Woman. Also, get forcefully married how she was, made her behave like this and lost her selfrespect and value, her parents did a big and prohibiten sin to marry her without her permission and send her back home with an abusive husband! Totolly prohibiten and wrong! In islam men like this are punished and right away woman must divorce such a bastard who dont fear God. Rape is punished by death in islam. The Men who Rape a Women must be executed to death, the Woman has the right to kill her Raper.

My heart aches for her mother and father. Her father is a great man. Idk how I would handle this as a parent. The son also disrespected the father who allowed safe haven for his daughter and he has a right to his feelings. I like how the govt allows the father the ultimate decision and more a family matter that way, than a legal thing. I can't imagine their pain. A father and daughter have a very deep and special bond, just like a mother with their sons. I wish there was some way I could help provide for them in some way. And I would also like the name of the shelter for women who were raped too. I would like to help them too.

The father and mother kept changing their story when she died. I believe they knew what was happening. And Qandeels mom doesn't seem to be very emotional or upset by her daughters death. Also, her brother was pardoned by the parents and is now a free man. Also the son lied when he said Qandeel was unconscious when he killed her. She was alive. Her face had so many bruises, her nose had flesh missing and there were cuts on her cheeks forehead. She will have tried to fight back. She was alive till nearly 12 o'clock. Because I was on her page. She was replying to people who were trolling her. Then around 11:45 her comments stopped. I think within that time her brother may have come into her room. Police also denied that she was beaten & tortured whereas the beatings could be clearly seen in her death photo.

The moment she filmed herself with the cleric for publicity put her life at greater risk. It’s a shame she knowingly took such a risk in her environment. I'm from Pakistan and unfortunately, even my family, neighbors, and friends support honor killings. There was a girl in my neighborhood, she was a 14 year old who was being forced to marry an older man by her father and family. She ran away with a lover, and her father found her eventually and electrocuted and killed her. Everyone supported it, they say it is "Waajib ul Qatal" (Arabic for " Mandatory Killing"). So certain people are seen as mandatory to kill. Another case I know was of a wife slaughtered in front of her kids because the man got in a fight with her, it's not uncommon for husbands to burn wives. And no one sees it as wrong. Even my uncle murdered 2 people and my family never mention my dead uncle's acts and say he was a great person (he was also murdered). Everything is out of control.

I've seen this so many times. A wife or daughter is a little out of control and in some cases they are not, but the father and elders want to kill them. This is simply ludicrous. This is what instantly comes to their minds, kill. There is something seriously wrong with this cultural mindset. It happens in other countries as well, like Afghanistan, Turkey, etc. Why kill your own blood relatives.

They literally have a system where you can separate those dumb people from the smart ones in a 6th grade test after wards dumb ppl are put into blue collar skill learning schools whereas those who are smart are put into engineering doctor scientists schools and most of the smart ones are women bcz they score higher. I'm an Indian woman and understand the conservative societies shown in this documentary. Having remained single and now in my 40s, I have grown to realise something else. It's often the younger men who expect women of their age to follow the strictures of a patriarchal society and fulfill their expected roles of marriage, motherhood and serving family as a good wife/mother/daughter-in-law, because the whole system serves these men. Once the men grow older, like Qandeel's father, and they are no longer "competing" with the young women and expect them to be their chattel, their views often grow more progressive and they understand the women's need to be their own person and live their own life. I've seen this change in my own father as he grew older, but unfortunately, society can have a greater say in some women's lives like Qandeel. RIP brave girl

There is so much wrong with what happens in Pakistan "in the name of Islam" that is in fact cultural and not religious. The Balochis are particularly guilty. Despite having access to girls (not women) as wives from age 12. Throughout Pakistan men develop inappropriate relationships with boys under the age of puberty. I was also propositioned by many Balochi men when I worked in Dubai. Everyone turns a blind eye to these things, then act all contrite when a girl acts like poor Qandeel.

It's to do with the fact that, poor girl was born in a poor family and then everyone wanted a piece of her, used her and she was abused and used for their own gains. From her family to each and everyone. She did nothing unique or different because drinking, smoking vulgarity, dance and what not is common among elites and rich but the only thing which took her life is her bad luck to be born in poor family. She was VERY disrespectful to that religious figure … Even if he proposed marriage to her that was a private matter. She wanted to humiliate that man and succeeded to her own detriment. She was a hard core narcissist /feminist who played that man to strip away his layers, familiarize herself with his vulnerabilities, then horrifically exposed /degraded him on national television. This attitude to women is all over. It comes in different forms. In the West, (US), men put their shame on a woman for her to carry. They use her as their personalized scapegoat, same attitude at this country. The death of the woman, may not be as instantly as Pakistan or India. It can be slow and coercively punishable to women. The US laws concerning domestic violence are weak and draconian. Braking you wife’s jaw, gives you a charge of harassment, not even a misdemeanor let alone a felony. Men all over the world refuse to carry their own shame and guilt. What better way than to put it on a woman? And if the country stands behind you to do that, you’ll cause the death of her. Women everywhere in one way or another are made to carry men’s shame. And it’s because governments allow it. Men refuse to carry what is theirs.

Well said. She acted in a very cheap way. Then she justified it by using "Woman power" Whereas, she was actually promoting vulgarity & nudity on social media. Qandeel herself was abusing the platform she had achieved through fame. She loved to be famous & earn lots of money, unfortunately she paid for it with her life..

I beg to differ on her not doing anything wrong… She was VERY disrespectful to that religious figure … Even if he proposed marriage to her that was a private matter. She wanted to humiliate that man and succeeded to her own detriment. She was a hard core narcissist /feminist who played that man to strip away his layers, familiarize herself with his vulnerabilities, then horrifically exposed /degraded him on national television. Her brother was just the instrument used but she essentially killed herself from my point of view 🤷🏽‍♀️

After watching this documentary, I want to add one thing: it's often presented as if all women in Pakistan face restrictions. My brother, that's not true for all women. Only women from middle-class and poor families face all these laws and restrictions. The women from rich families in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, where the big tycoons reside, drink alcohol, smoke, and openly go to pubs. Everyone knows about their activities, but no one has the courage to speak up. The fact is that Qandeel belonged to a poor, middle-class family, which is why she was killed. If she had belonged to a rich family, I say no one would have dared to even look at her.

@kayani79 I totally agree with you. In karachi it very modern & very western life over there. The girls are very independent over there. Yes that's what happened to this beautiful young lady who was from very narrow minded villiage where she was grown up. At 13 the parents married her off into a physio family and was mistreated there at age 13. I'm happy that God gave her strength to come back to her parents. All she wanted to do was change it for woman's restrictions and make things better. Rest in Peace young lady. 🙏 😢😢

Just a reminder to people whenever Pakistani Cleric says its an Islamic Republic, it had way more than 25% non Muslim population even after the mass exodus during the partition of 1947 with India. Today that no. has gone down to single digit with forced marriages, kidnappings of Non Muslim girls which is basically supported by their court of law. And yes they r very proud of their deeds.

In life, we need to pick our battles wisely and fight them strategically. Just like a game of chess, we need to think ahead, anticipate our opponent's moves, and make calculated decisions. This is what it means to be smart. The young girl in Pakistan who stood up against her family's oppressive traditions and laws was certainly brave and courageous. However, her actions had consequences, not only for herself but also for her family. While her intention may have been to spark change and push for equality, she also ended up causing a rift within her family. Her parents, who were initially angered and disappointed by her actions, eventually forgave their son, but not until 2022. This begs the question, did they forgive him because of their love for their daughter or because they relied on her income to finance their lives? This situation, though extreme, highlights the importance of choosing our battles wisely. In a society like Pakistan's where patriarchy is deeply ingrained, one cannot expect to challenge and change centuries-old traditions and laws without facing repercussions. While it may be tempting to act on impulse and fight every injustice we come across, it is crucial to think ahead and consider the potential consequences. This brings us to the concept of staying alive to live another day. In a battle, whether it be physical or metaphorical, it is crucial to survive in order to continue fighting. Making rash decisions or engaging in conflicts that may cost one's safety or well-being is not a sign of intelligence. Instead, it is smarter to evaluate the situation, strategize, and approach the battle in a calculated manner. Comparing the game of chess to life, we can see the importance of strategic thinking and decision-making. In chess, one needs to anticipate their opponent's moves and plan accordingly. Similarly, in life, we need to anticipate potential challenges and make calculated decisions to achieve our goals. In a society where the odds may seem stacked against us, it is essential to use our intelligence to our advantage. We need to teach our children how to play chess, not just Super Mario. Teaching them strategic thinking and decision-making will better equip them to face the challenges of life and make smart choices. In conclusion, what makes us smart is not just our intelligence, but also our ability to choose our battles wisely and stay alive to fight for another day. We must remember that change takes time and in a world of complex societal norms and traditions, we need to approach battles with strategy, patience, and resilience. Let us learn from the young girl in Pakistan and use our intelligence to make calculated decisions and bring about positive change in society.
