The film dives into the relationship Skeel had with his then-girlfriend Jordan Worth through interviews with Skeel and his family and friends. It paints a picture of an average man who for years endured a form of unthinkable, raw violence, both physical and mental, that is infrequently told from a male victim point of view. It demonstrates how Skeel's livelihood was slowly slipping away and how even family and friends had no idea what was happening.
The documentary portrays a teenage romance that slowly warped into something else entirely, using police testimony to showcase Skeel's suffering from one of the most severe domestic violence cases the police department had ever seen. By sharing his story, Skeel hopes to challenge assumptions about violence and masculinity in relationships, and to empower victims of domestic violence to come forward.

What I find most frightening about this sad case is the amount of love and support he had around him and still fell victim to this sick cruel manipulator. I’m aware many don’t have that. So glad he managed to escape alive and has his babies and loving family around him. Hopefully he will meet someone wonderful to share his life with so he can experience a loyal, loving , fulfilling relationship which is what he deserves. Often yes, but… Actually I imagine some children of domestic violence relationships who were let down by the authorities join the police to stop it happening to anyone else, same as some kids who were ill as a child and failed by rubbish doctors want to go into medicine. I had a mentally abusive ex who was casual about it as well. She said stuff like 'I did it because I could', and when I confronted her for being abusive, she said, 'Just because something is true, doesn't mean you should say it'. Some people literally just don't care (she literally googled whether she was a sociopath), and for me (a non sociopath), it has genuinely left me with severe nightmares and trust issues. I think this poor guy fell into the trap that I and so many abused partners do, which is to assume that our partner can't be as heartless and cruel as they are. @@pinkpugginz I know it can be difficult to understand but there can be multiple reasons. 1. When an abuser abuses, they periodically show you love and kindness (false hope really) and you desperately await the return of that. 2) Fear. 3) R*pe and there is more reasons. Getting out of an abusive and violent relationship is one of the most difficult things a person can do. The amount of control and brain washing that goes into it, they literally change the way you think, the way you see yourself, they make you lose touch with reality, they give you fears you never knew you could have and at the same time they're pretending to love you, occasionally love bombing you too keep you going so they can abuse you more. They strip away your confidence, your identity, your sanity, they make you question your reality. Eventually your just a shell of the person you use to be and you give up. It becomes either you do as you're told or you get hurt, but even then, they will find any reason to abuse you, you could drop a spoon n that's it, then it becomes random, it's not even about you anymore, it's anything at all and you find yourself constantly waiting for the next attack. Other than this, another reason to stay is that so many people have been killed trying to leave abusive relationships and that is a very well known fact. Leaving is of the scariest and hardest things in the world. Also a fact. I hope this helps to answer your question.

I'm not sure where you got that information, I've never seen research that says men are abused more than women in relationships. All victims are equal of course, but the reason society is focusing on women is because they suffer worse injuries and ultimately, in cases of deadly violence 8/10 victims are women.

This is such a disturbing experience that he had to live through. She is one very sick person. I’m scared for the public when she is released. She only served 4 years and was released from prison in 2022! She got engaged to some bricklayer in 2023 and apparently ran a marathon to raise money for women affected by domestic violence - the sick irony. I'm sure the evil hyena did this as a joke and equally twisted people actually donated money for her "cause". Talk about a sadistic way to spit in the face of everyone who's been abused. This is what she wrote on her fundraising page: "My Story The Centre For Women's Justice are my legal team who have supported me personally over the last few years and are continuing to do so. They are experts in their field, and support female offenders who have been subject to male violence and historical domestic abuse. They provide legal advice, assistance with public inquiries, inquests and legal challenges. They ensure access to justice for female victims of male violence who find themselves in the criminal justice system due to resisting or retaliating to abuse. My case was complex and complicated but CWJ gave me the time effort and energy to understand my case and support me! Please sponsor me to run the London marathon to help raise money for them!!!!"

She does not see it, does not believe it, even though it's ridiculously obvious, how he's constantly keeping taps on her, and controls her. Luckily she's just as obstinate in not letting him isolate her from family and friends. She showed signs of violence twice, always claims she fell. This has been going on for 20 years now and all I can hope for is that he just dies... horrible as that sounds. Sorry for venting to you... This was a VERY IMPORTANT STORY TO BE TOLD! So many men go through this and don't say a word out of fear of not being believed, being made fun of, shame, and isolation. The abuser has usually isolated this person, gas lighted this person to the point they are questioning their own sanity...harming their minds just as badly, if not worse, than they've harmed their bodies. This girl acts as though she doesn't know the magnitude of her actions or is playing a game to manipulate the situation. She plays the sweet quiet girl. I cannot say enough about the officer who helped Alex, was there for him, let him know he could and would help him. That kind of caring and compassion is necessary for these situations and i'm so happy this officer is the one who was there to help. I also wanted to comment on Alex's best friend who speaks throughout. This young man IS A TRUE FRIEND! Alex is lucky to have him and vice versa. Friendships like this don't come along often so when they do, hold onto them and cherish them. Such kind and caring young men. Good for you Alex. You seem to be a wonderful father with 2 precious children. And now to be helping others...that is one of the best way to help yourself to heal and to be an amazing role model for your children. Thanks for your comment! Where is the father? I only saw a mom and a grandpa, in this story about Alex. What I can see in these scenarios is young men who have no idea what masculinity is. If they knew how to be the “3 P’s” then they would not let their relationships get to that point. Men need to be manly, in their relationships, or their women take that roll and don’t know how to do it. It makes women crazier when their men don’t stop their crazy! If you love her then you won’t let her control you. Violence & Manipulation is never Love. The 3 P’s are: Protector, Provider, and Procreator. Alex needed the Public Authorities to finally be the protectors of that family. That’s terrible! Especially for the infant and toddler, who now have an incarcerated mother. Their troubles aren’t over. Alex’s mother doesn’t realize she treated him differently than his brother and sister. He was timid and insecure. The best solution for this family is for Jordan AND Alex to get psychiatric care and learn how to deal with adversity. They both have contributed to the demise of their family. I don’t know if Jordan can ever learn to feel empathy, but I’m certain Alex can learn how to be a real man. God allows bad things to happen because He doesn’t control us. If we pray, and ask Him for help, He will help 10 fold! My life is proof. I’m a stubborn woman, but I have a strong husband that loves me with the love of a protector. As the daughter of an abusive mother, I appreciate that these stories are being told by men who are victims. My mother painted my father as the abuser (even blaming him for her abuse of my younger brother and I) when she was the abuser. Her abuse was mostly emotional, and I can remember my father crying and I was just a child and I was too afraid of her to go to him. Unfortunately my father mistakenly thought she would not abuse her children and since he was away a lot for work, he didn't witness it. The bullies at school were nothing compared to what we got at home. My parents split when I was ten. For years my mother poisoned my mind about my father and I didn't speak to him for years and only reunited with him and shared our stories when I was in my late 20s. Sadly he died within months. My mother is still alive decades later making everyone's life hell. You may say I don't have to be in touch with her, but try being a woman who doesn't speak to your mother and see how you get treated. People have sympathy for someone who had an abusive father, but an abusive mother - they think you are exaggerating or imagining it.

The only way to get out of it, is stopping relationships with the abuser. I feel so sorry that I didn’t do it earlier because my horrible abusive mother manipulated me times and times again into believing that she loves me. I can relate to this... my ex girlfriend was very abusive towards myself and her own family. I stayed around thinking she would change, but things only got worse. One of my dear friend’s son (a firefighter), was killed by his abusive girlfriend. She shoved him out of a moving car and he struck his head, he died shortly after. The things that go on behind closed doors can be horrible. This is Jordan from the documentary. Just to be clear, I never meant to hurt Alex! Because it's about power & control, not love. They have no idea what love is. But they will love bomb at the start with gifts, romantic gestures etc to get the victim where they want them quickly. Whirlwind romance & presenting an outwardly 'perfect' man/woman scenario is a classic abuser tactic. As soon as theyve got their victim where they want them the abuse kicks in.

Think of this, we learn about love in childhood, so if the love you get from your caregiver is mixed with violence, then that is in your subconscious, therefore one feels: "if they love me they should abuse me." I recommend you check Alain de Botom's Ted talks.

There are a laundry list of reasons why people are not close to their families, you fail to differentiate between victim and abuser, or any other issues. Jordan is a narcissistic sociopath, she will not change. There are a lot of them, unfortunately, and they are all dangerous. As a society we desperately need to understand this problem far, far more than we do, and only then can begin to deal with it effectively.

Thats because my dad didnt care to be in my life, my mom died when I was 11, and my aunt and cousins were narcissists like Jordan (one of my cousins even put pills in a milkshake she made me for God knows what reason). I started crying when the officer said the McDonald's was one of the best meals he's ever had. Mental health needs to be more of a priority all over the world. Abuse awareness needs to be more accesible. My heart breaks for Alex and his family, but especially his mom. We work so hard to raise our babies to be kind hearted and loving and someone comes along and tries to break them. I hope they are all in better spots now.

It took a very long time for my 23 year old son to finally see that his “girlfriend” was abusing him. She controlled everything from money, to clothes he wore,tattoos she put on his body and isolating him from friends and family. He finally broke up with her and just last week, he had those tattoos covered up. He eventually told me that she would bite him, punch him and choke him. This was a great documentary and I am so proud of Alex for sharing his story and helping professionals understand just how real this is. Happy healing to Alex and those beautiful babies.

My parents divorced when I was ten and we didn’t see my Dad much after that. I remember his mother, my grandmother, being a horrible women and we were quite happy not to have to see her again. She was never nice to my Mum either. When my Grandad died they found him covered in bruises and it turns out she’d been abusing him for years. No wonder my Dad was a bit dysfunctional

I left my narcissistic abusive parents finally at age 39. Nobody had believed me for all those years about the abuse and was instead put on medications. At age 38 I finally found a trauma therapist who BELIEVED me. I have now been on my own for 3.5 years in bed, recovering from chronic fatigue, asthma, chronic pain, rapid cycling bipolar 2 disorder and mood swings. 15 hours of Zoom trauma therapy by 3 different therapists. I have now been free of symptoms and off medications for 1 year. It took me 39 years and almost dying to find help. 12 step SLAA, codependents anonymous and Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional families have been my life line.

I wiuld not have survived if it wasnt for Him. I'm from Germany so my english is not perfect and i'm not good with words even in german so i can't express myself very well but i want you to know that you are loved, i love you and you have my full symphathy . But so much more important is that Christ loves you incredibly much. He's alive and He wants you to come Home, which is the personal intimate and living Father-daugther relationship with your Creator you were created to be in. He wants to give you a new life. It wasn't just the physical abuse, but the psychological and emotional abuse that allowed him to continue accepting the physical abuse. Fortunately for him, he has a family that never gave up on him and a police officer who followed his instincts in the end. May Alex heal from his trauma and find a partner worthy of him.

Thank God for that officer. It must be different in the UK than the US. I've called the police twice on a man and I had PHYSICAL evidence (black eye with a cut very close to my eye where he chucked a nightlight switch at my face, along with other misc things). When the police came, I was a mess, crying and not doing a good job at composing myself. The man who assaulted me was my husband and he told them that I had psychological issues and that I did it to myself. They believed him and they left without doing anything. If they would have done their job a bit they would have seen his felony domestic abuse charges from his X-wife... which she fought to bring down to a misdemeanor. Fast-forward 6 months, he broke my nose in 2 places and the ER doc begged me to let them call the police. I refused because what were they going to do? They've never done anything before and I did not want to lose my livelihood and everything as he would have taken everything from me and had the resources. The ER doc looked me in the eyes and said, "next time he will kill you." That's the 2nd ER doctor to tell me that. But... the police are utterly useless in my area.

And I'm so very happy they loved him so much harder, than they disliked her, when people make poor choices is when we need to stand by, as they will eventually some how maybe God will place the right person there, with right words, authority whatever is needed. But abusers need to be stopped dead in there blazing manipulative often soft spoken, shy tracks! Families friends band together there going to need to you help them pick up the pieces of there former self. Stand firm don't waver. It took an underground group, and my mom's brother to save my life. The cops never forced him to see me, or call out for me. It was considered family matters, much has changed today thank goodness. Mine lasted until 1992. Officers never stepped in our home and looked for me or my new born he just told them No. And they would leave. 👎 I was eventually for the 2nd time left for dead. When I got help. Accidentally he left a phone. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Totally agree!!!!! so glad he did what he did..!!! but the officer shouldn't let it eat at him for missing it the first time.Iamd so happy Alex got away very close call!!! I have a sister who does things similar to this police had bn called you name it, she was almost put in 72 hour mental hold for things. and as well as abuse to my niece n nephew and mother.. but then she moved away, she chose the guy instead of her kids. I ended up with my niece and my nephew went with his father... but the thing was not only was my sister playing victim, she was also the abuser to even her recent boyfriends the one that she got really physical was why she moved, bc she didn't want cops involved due to restraining orders ect. Cause she would be in trouble too.. but to up and leave her kids was ridiculous we barely talk now because she and her newish boyfriend is all she cares for. And goin to party 24/7 ! But maybe one day she will grow up and me being years younger I grew faster, it just makes me wonder what is goin on in her head .. and just stop the nonsense..
