Red river gorge is a great place. Have not made it down that way this year. May try to do a day trip there when the fall hits. definitely be careful many people have lost their lives there especially when I was a kid back in the 70's. Glad to see you posting again and it is awesome you continue to use the D3400. Mine has been in it's bag and has not seen the light of day in quite a while.

Thanks for the post and agreed - beeeee careful at red river gorge and any similar area. I cringe when I see people close to any given ridgeline. Get your camera out and capture some memories. :)

You don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a camera for wonderful photos. You also don't have to camp out over night for an amazing outdoor experience. Wish more people appreciated the peace and beauty you can find in State parks, even if you can only spend a day there. Glad you're back to posting videos again!

Huge thanks for your videos on photography, which I found to be both instructive and inspiring. I came across your site very soon after buying a Nikon D3400 at a time when I was scouring the internet looking for handy hints and top tips on ways to get the best out of it,! You have shown me that a good photographer can take great pictures even when using an entry level camera. So thanks again and keep on making the videos that are helping me to take better pictures!

Thank you again for sharing Mark. In the past two years I have unsubscribed from the channels of 3 full-time photographers because they switched from creating content about the art and skills of photography and capturing images to focusing on gear; this lens vs that lens, this camera vs that camera, etc... I appreciate you!

Thanks for your post/feedback!:) I feel the same - somewhere along the way many photographers on social media lose their love of photography. I feel they started with the foundation of really enjoying the process - taking shots, capturing memories, etc., but lost it to the pressures of social media. The need to always using the latest and greatest from a manufacturers is a problem for various reasons and perhaps worthy of a video. :)

Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Many manufacturers and equipment influencers would have you believe newer more expensive gear is required to take awesome shots. While I can appreciate newer gear for various features that can assist the photographer, the reality is great shots are the result of the photographer and not the equipment.

Awesome shots Mark. Did you bracket those sunrise/ sunset shots or adjust exposure in any way? I always find shooting into the sun tricky.
@RealWorld3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post/feedback David!:) Surprisingly, no ... no bracketing although I am considering a tutorial on it. The D3400 along with other similar level cameras do not offer native bracketing, however it is still doable using a tripod and self adjustments. :)

@@RealWorld Those are some of the best ones. :-) I had some "tossers" and a little post production and a really good shot appears. Lesson I learned early on and hopefully anyone new to cameras watching will learn too, DON'T delete images off your card on the spot. Pull them up in post and take a look at what you have first. Surprises are always on a memory card. :-)

I thought the sunrise captures were better than the sunset captures ..... you might just sway me to invest in a Nikon as my next camera . ... though how good is the 55mm lens at capturing passenger jets flying over .. high in the sky .. , Is there any chance of being able to provide such captures before i make a decision .. Be greatly appreciated if you could please .. .as none of the other reviewers never seem to bother to prove the camera they are reviewing .. it's abilities to take such captures . , As recently i watched one video by a reviewer who did a video about a certain brand's zoom qualities when asked a specific question .. he reply completely contradicted his own video. assessment .
@RealWorld3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your post/feedback/question:). Both the sunset and sunrise were awesome to experience, however the sunrise was great from a photographic perspective due to the sea of fog in the valleys. Regarding photographing planes with the 18-55 flying over ... the plan would need to be relatively low to the ground as I feel you would need more than 55 to get close to the plane.
