While they're some fair criticisms to her character (credit where credit is owed: she set up a great flaw with her strict Black and White view on good and evil, and that evil should be scrouged from the earth (Something that really works in a campaign about how things aren't black and white), as well as total faith in her diety (That she's not a cleric or paladin of, just through relation, Aasimars honestly don't owe their "Gods" shit as they're a product of one their servants who couldn't resist the will to fuck and have now decided their children owe them for existing), she feels like a great addition as player with her enthusiasm, gelling with everyone else (outside the game), and her equal party reactions to the "Oh No" or "Matt is trying to kill us moments."

DowskiVision MagicalOracle I mean people overstack their characters all the time in D&D. She seems to just be that kind of player. I think her machine gunning it all out in such a short span of time was the most jarring part about it. It didn’t feel natural in or out of context, really. Also none of the other guests(alot more of them this campaign being poc) had that much “stuff” going on. She sent in 4 pages of her backstory too. I don’t think this was a “pc” move mainly because there wasn’t a “move” at all on their end.

I had an Aasimar divine soul sorceress who adopted a very similar aesthetic. At the end of our campaign I imagined her becoming a folk tale known as “the white lady” who is known for kidnap people, but really she was rescuing them from bad situations. Nobody knew much about her other than she dressed in all white with gold hair, and it is a rumor that she is an angel.

I had a lot of fun playing an Aasimar. I feel like it's a great excuse to make a head-in-the-clouds character who doesn't really get how the world works. Mine was a cleric following Ilmater, who was very naive to the world and took the whole 'give aid to any who would ask it' thing very seriously. Even if it was an enemy, if they asked for aid she was bound to help them. One day a magically sealed beholder asked her to release it, offering all kinds of wondrous things that would help complete my background motivation. She turned down the bribe but released it anyway, because aid is given freely and without hope of reward. She was repaid by the beholder with a death ray that turned her to ash in one shot. It seemed like a fitting way to end her story.

I played mine that way too, but she learned quickly that the world isn’t kind. In her backstory she got captured by slavers and was tortured for the pleasure of her owner for several years. She was rescued and was very cautious around other people after that. She got a hat of disguise and made herself look human around everyone accept one of the party members, who had a similar backstory. Fun stuff

I have yet to play an Aasimar, but I have a Human Shadow Sorcerer named Mortimer Swell. He was a character I made for a Halloween one-shot. The story was a mix of Slavic folklore and Stephen King's It with a pit-stop in Celtic tradition for All Hallows Eve where the BBEG was a hag who was kidnapping children, killing the original survivors of an identical event two decades prior, and animating scarecrows to aid in said kidnappings. My character (Morty. His friends call him Morty) as well as the other two PCs were part of the original 12 children (well 11 children and one Elf who had yet to reach maturity) who had been kidnapped by a hag who lived outside the village (Morty and the Elf, one of the two other PCs who's character name I don't remember, being the last two), when Morty was captured his parents died in an accident (they were handling incense and it was ignited, may not be the right term but still, and they were caught in the blaze) this time the town priest witnessed the kidnapping of Morty and his androgynous Elven son and lead a mob against the hag, killing her with fire and saving all 12 children. Years later with the 12 having reached adulthood, it appeared to have started once more. To make a long story short, the three girls who were part of the 12 became hags and were repeating the cycle, we killed one the other two are still alive. I view the unplayed second half as Morty killing a little girl who was kidnapped by the hag and almost exclusively hunting hags with the title of the Tattered Man...
