What adds just that little bit of hysteria to this is twofold. First, white dragons hate gifts or bribery. They consider them insulting, because they should just be strong enough to take anything of worth for themselves. Two, 7 platinum, or 70 gold, is hilariously low as an "apology" bribe. Nott and Jester saw how impossibly vast Gelidon's hoard was. An ancient dragon of any color would be impossibly wealthy. It's the equivalent of dinging a limousine and then trying to charm your way out of trading insurance with the owner by passing them 5 or 10 bucks.

@@janlucaschurmann488 Well of course, but he's not simply holding back, he's roleplaying. Every single thing the dragon did made sense and wasn't holding back in that context. They are playing a roleplaying game, not a hack and slash, min max, meta knowledge, combat game. Mercer plays what's best for the story and immersion, not the characters. They could have easily all died if they messed up but their plan was pretty tight and for once they didn't blow the plan.

@@janlucaschurmann488 I might have this wrong but by my understanding her double movement kept her out of range of the dragon's single movement so the dragon could only hit her because his breath had enough range after moving. I don't think you should generally use legendary actions in a chase scene in order to catch up to players. It's technically within the rules but it's also unrealistic and immersion breaking. Legendary actions make sense during a fight because it's happening inbetween players actions but using them in a chase is like giving the creature supernatural speed beyond what it would have if it weren't in combat.
