There's a bug in your custom action: if snapping is disabled, you'll end up enabling it. Not what you'd want. It should be "Save snap state", "Disable snap state", "Split under mouse", "Restore snap state"
@ReapertvUk6 жыл бұрын
You're right, that is definitely a better method and solves the snap problem. Nice one 👍
@BryanChiMusic5 жыл бұрын
um, but isn't there already a script to split under mouse ignoring snap. For me I assign two shortcuts to splits with and without snap so there's no need to think about snapping state when splitting

@@jesussaddle ctrl + s is save project
@joetowers48043 жыл бұрын
@@jesussaddle I'm not sure if this would help you, but it might, as it can be made to be contextual : Realearn by Helgoboss. It's possible to have different mappings for a midi controller focusing on an fx. Therefore, I think if you use midi rather than shortcuts, each midi cc could potentially act differently depending on its context.

*Here's my changes :p* Shortcut key created for Toggle Metronome (M). By default, the M key was set to "Insert marker at current position" but this option was sort of duplicated with Shift+M, that will "Insert and/or edit marker at current position" so the M key was freed up for toggling the Metronome on/off. You can still place a marker with Shift+M. The only difference with Shift+M is that you can name the marker - the original M key shortcut just placed a marker. The Metronome is a feature that gets switched on/off many times while making songs, so it's handy to have it usable with one press of the M key. Shortcut key created for Track Recording Settings (Ctrl+Q). This is where you can set the track to automatically use Quantize as you record. Previously there was no keyboard shortcut for this. The default action for Ctrl+Q was "Quit Reaper" but this was redundant since Alt+F4 already does the same thing. Shortcut key created for Glue items (G). This action is what joins split parts together as one part. Previously, "Glue items" was Ctrl+Shift+G and "Group items" was G. These have now been swapped around so Ctrl+Shift+G = "Group items" and G = "Glue items". Shortcut key created for Insert 4 envelope points at time selection (Shift+P). Previously there was no shortcut key for this and nothing was assigned to the key combo it now uses. After selecting a time section, then clicking on the line for the channel level you want to adjust, you can press Shift+P to create a section of points, then you can lower/raise the channel level between those points. This saves having to manually draw the 4 points. Shortcut key created for Track: Set to random colors (Ctrl+Alt+C). With a track (or tracks) highlighted, this instantly changes the track colour and, if you don't like the colour, you can just keep holding Ctrl+Alt and pressing C. This is a lot faster than right-clicking then looking for the option. No previous shortcut key existed for this combo. Shortcut key created for View FX chain for current/last touched track (F). The F key was previously assigned to "Show/hide toolbar docker" - this is now assigned to Shift+D.

Hi Thanks for the Reaper videos, they’re a great help to those of us who are fairly new to DAW’s. Even an old git like me!

This is why I love Reaper. I do a lot of audiobook/audio drama production and I have macros set up so that if I select a gap between words, I can hit one button and automatically trim the audio and insert a number of grid spaces, pushing the remainder of audio on the track down the timeline. Works really well for standardizing the amount of distance between sentences and paragraphs or for inserting a gap with a marker for character dialogue inserts.

That sounds like a very cool action.. You should share it :)

This is meant for editing on a grid (I use 120 bpm with 1/8 grid spacing). I have this bound to number pad 7. You'll need the SWS extension. Set ripple editing per-track Item: Split items at time selection Item: Remove items Go to start of time selection Time selection: remove time selection SWS: move cursor and time selection right to grid SWS: move cursor and time selection right to grid SWS: move cursor and time selection right to grid Insert empty item Set ripple editing off Item: remove items Time selection: remove time selection Set ripple editing per-track Now, create a time selection on a track, hit the 7 key, and you'll end up with 3 grid spaces between your newly split media items. I have other commands for creating 4 spaces, one for placing a marker in the middle of 6 grid spaces, removing everything in the time selection and pulling the remaining items left against the right edge of an item etc. Custom actions and mouse modifiers like this have VASTLY increased my productivity in Reaper. I select, hit a key, and move on to the next edit. Everything happens in one move.

God... Switching the snapping on and off about 2 million times during a mix... I wish I watched this 5 years ago lol. Actually, I would have assumed there was a way to make that process easier. You can do so much with Reaper. It's just a matter of how much time/effort you wanna put into customizing it.

AHH!! There's a really high-pitch compression artifact in the audio on this. For me personally that makes this unwatchable. Sorry. Literally makes me physically nauseous, kinda like motion-sickness (which I'm also susceptible too. I wonder if that's related, cuz that's an inner-ear thing too) Perhaps you'd consider re-uploading? :)
@Leonideus_em5 жыл бұрын
Low pass below 16k-ish should fix this (mp3/m4a compression is not kind to these frequencies). And don't be so greedy about adding "air" 😏. Also, the older you are, the harder this will be to notice, because science...

I like using Reaper but isn't it a bit tight? Come on! Come to think of it, even the free version of Pro Tools let me export tracks in .wav and mp3! Hmm..getting the message now?!

Mark Doney-Mccloud maybe paying to support a great piece of software that is priced incredibly well is the best way to go about it.
@marksadventures38896 жыл бұрын
Whatever man, in my eyes free is free - if I give people things i don't place restrictions on them it's a gift it's free and it gets you more business too, I gave away 3 samples and made £250 on many sales as I gave for no profit and made it known so, people were so taken that there was no catch or hidden motive they bought more. Oh by the way, I am still going to buy Reaper, i just don't like hidden traps.
@ReapertvUk6 жыл бұрын
Reaper isn't free, it's a fully featured demo that is available for 60 days and then you're supposed to pay the incredibly reasonable price for a license. As for selling samples, you can use whatever business model works for you and good to hear it landed sales. Cockos have outlined their sales model and most people are more than happy to work with it.
