B M hey man does the bolt have to be flush with the cover there was blue loc tite on my bolt and now the bolt will only go in so mich with a ratchet and I see threads on my plug and I see fluid slowly leaking out any help does it have to be flush with the cover?
@TitanTown5 жыл бұрын
@@Heezy2023 it should be pretty much flush but there will be threads showing. It doesnt go all the way in on the rear diff. Use a thread sealant not loctite.

Today I just changed the differential oil on my 2005 Nissan Titan XE with 76,000+ miles on it. after watching this and other videos. It went easily and smoothly. Used Mobil One 75W-140. @ $19.95 per quart. Used 2 1/2 quarts. And yes the aroma is putrid. Like dead ass.

How about some Compressed air in the upper hole to blow out any residual oil/debris?
@TitanTown Жыл бұрын
You could, I sometimes pump some oil in to flush it out before reinstalling drain plug.

Why is such heavy oil running so fast during drain ??
@TitanTown2 жыл бұрын
The Gear Oil and Motor Oil viscositys Are Not the Same. Gear oil differs from motor oil. While many motorists may assume SAE 90 gear oil is thicker than SAE 40 or 50 motor oil, they are actually the same viscosity; the difference is in the additives.

My mother has a 2017 Rogue SV. I wonder if it has a breather on the differential. I might do the transfer case fluid and the differential one day. The transfer case would be the harder one because of where the plug is. I will have to see if I can find that and see if it is as awful as some people make it seem. I know on some newer vehicles these days, a lot of things get crammed into such a small space that you may feel as though you would never get to them.

Excellent video. I drive a Nissan 3500 12-passenger van for my large family, and I intend to change the diff fluid soon. I’m guessing it’s a very similar procedure to the one presented in your video.

No, just pull the plug out of the bottom, drain old oil and refill through plug on the side.

Nice work. Did you just piece together the vent tube upgrade or did you buy a kit?
@crownedroyal20038 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised to see how plugged your vent was considering how new the vehicle is. I had a Toyota with at similar vent, lots of issues with axle seal leaks which the dealer couldn't figure out. I ended up finding the vent plugged, replaced it with a barbed fitting / tube and no more axle leaks... My titan (only 6 mouths old) has the same vent designs and I think it might be a good idea to remove it before it becomes a issues. Thanks for the videos and enjoy your Titan.

How often do I have to change the oil?
@TitanTown7 жыл бұрын
Armando Monroy hi my owners manual didn't specify a change interval only a 40000km check. the AMSOIL used in this video is good for 100000 miles regular duty or 50000 miles severe duty (towjng/off-road)

No, no slip lock in the Titan, other anti-slip differentials may need it. the Titan has an open diff or on the Pro4X a mechanically locking diff.
@TitanTown7 жыл бұрын
it is normal to have it heat up depending on ambient temperature, towing and speed. Did u ever check it before? Make sure levels are good. Do u have the finned cover like in the video, Nissan added it in the later years to help reduce heat. it also requires synthetic because it withstands heat better than conventional oil. I checked some forums and temps for people who installed gauges were 170-220f after driving.
@TitanTown7 жыл бұрын
the AMSOIL 75w140 is not thinner, it is the viscosity required by Nissan, the diff will get hot just like the tranny fluid, the finned diff helps, the synthetic oil is very heat resistant, 220 deg far. is over 104 deg Celsius which you wouldn't want to check with your hand. I if it's over that u could have problems, u can check with an infrared thermometer
