Loved seeing your special rooms. Hearing the word "flood" made me sad for you as I remember how awful it was for your family and now how lovely. Our basement flooded in July. Fortunately, my quilt tops were safe above the water. I'm close to moving back into my sewing room as we have renovated the entire basement ourselves. Not bad for almost 70. Happy sewing.

I'm so sorry to hear about the flood, but I'm glad you're able to rebuild. Just the other day I was recounting the story of losing our home and all of the sudden I burst out crying! I was speaking to an acquaintance, not a good friend, and was a bit embarrassed at my outburst, but she was very kind. The loss hits us all at certain times, least of when we expect it, as we thought we could cope well. But obviously not. It was horrible - we've had a few years of horribleness, but still count our many many blessings and joys:) Thank you for being sad for us.

I was at a school with RULES so no one would have anything that might make another child jealous...uniforms, school notebook paper, pens and pencils...only school engraved that we had to purchase in the office. ONE blue 3 ring and 4 PeeChee folders...and ONLY PEE CHEE YELLOW FOLDERS..... Nothing was nicer than setting up our homework desk at home with pencils and pens we WANTED , big boxes of crayons....markers were not a thing, but colored pencils were. I always got a 48 or 64 count of crayons for my birthday( August)....but it was truly the community crayon box for the new school year for my sister and I to use. CRAYONS ARE A THING! Love your rooms.

What an awesome thing that was. Not in our school. :/ There were the 'rich' beautiful kids, the invisible ones, the 'bad' kids, the poor....the list goes on. I was one of the invisible ones. Always yearning to have a box of crayons!!! LOL! Funny that....I had a quite happy childhood, playing in the woods, exploring etc., but never got my crayons!!! LOL! LOL!

Enjoyed seeing your happy place, Jean. Yes, you are b lessed, blessed, blessed! At 76yo, I'm downsizing my fabric for quilting and garments and misc projects. It's amazing how much I have. A family or friend asks for a favor like curtains etc and I don't even need to go shopping. My ex-husband is from London and he used to say: "you are so materialistic" - lol! But I love fabric of all types. We create because we are created. Glad you are all feeling better. 😀

He did really well, and the workers were patient with his layers of gloves. He does try to do as much of it himself as he can, just had to peel gloves off until he could work the touch screens and then remove them to give his thumbprint. Since the pandemic I have to admit feeling more sensitive to the germs in places like that myself 😳 The Kingdom Hall is always so clean and we know our brothers and sisters don’t come when they are sick so we can feel pretty safe about it there. Jean, I had to smile about your crayon story. It brought back memories of when I was just a little girl in the 2nd grade "I'm 83 now" 😊. There was a girl in my class who had these pretty long blond braids that I was so envious of. I had brown naturally curly hair and I really wanted my hair to be in braids like hers so I finally convinced my mother to braid my hair and wouldn't you know they just wouldn't hang straight because my hair was too curly. I was so disappointed that my braids didn't look pretty like hers so I had to give up on that idea😢. We went all through school together and I don't think I ever told her about my fascination with her braids when we were in elementary school. My hair is white now though.😊 I'm glad your sewing room is turning out so beautifully. My grandson enclosed my back patio as a sewing room for me and it's really nice. I'm still trying to get it organized. I'll get there eventually but I'm a little slow now at my age. May God's blessings be upon you and your family.

I can relate to the crayons. But, my mother saved our crayons every year, and put them in a giant metal coffee can. My friend and I would color a lot. My Dad would being scratch paper home from work. It was nice heavyweight paper. We would spend all day painting in her garage, hanging our paintings up to dry. One year I got a big package of crayons for Christmas. I was so thrilled! I was quite good in art class. That made it easy for birthday gifts 😊 I totally understand the crayons.❤

What a lovely tour of your sewing rooms Jean. I think I might just have a smidgen of sewing room envy! Seriously though what lovely spaces to spend time in surrounded by all your fabrics and treasures. I don't have a separate space for my sewing so my poor husband Ian spends most of the day constantly moving his paper or crossword book off the dining room table as we only have tiny rooms in or "retirement" bungalow. Thankyou so much for sharing.

Aw, I wish I could snap my fingers and be able to create a special space just for you!! Anyway, WHEREVER you can create, if only sitting on a sofa with needle and thread, it's all good!:) Hugs!!

I’m loving your sewing room tour. Love your antique table that you found in the attic. I love old things. I watched your video of the batik boxes and I’ve made several of them. They get used everytime I sew. Thanks for making that video.

Love your reorganized sewing room and fabric room. Thank you Ian for using your skills to make such a wonderful space for Jean. I am in the process of reorganizing my sewing space and struggle to find someone to just make some straight cuts from some wood that I have. Look forward to seeing your future videos. Glad you both are sounding and feeling better. Keep well.

My sister had a thing about crayons. When she got older, I gifted her with a new large box, with the sharpener! and she loves it still. She'll let little children color with them, but they have to be very careful and not break any. She's very protective:0 Your sewing rooms are really beautiful and colorful!! We have a split lever home and I have finally gotten to take over the lower third. Took until retirement.........but I am VERY lucky indeed!!

Your sewing rooms are awesome you're so lucky to have one. My favorite one is the one on Davis Road it was so bright and a vintage feel to it. Thank you, Jean, for the tour. Happy sewing. I also loved the story about the boxes of crayons I remembered you saying that story before.

Hi Jean & Ian! I love your new-old table base-so pretty 🥰🥰 Yes, the guys are so handy to have around 🤣🤣 I love the rooms you have now, but I think my favorite is Davis Grove!! Thanks again for another tour!! Is that one Brother a Project Runway? When I retired the first time in '11 & was going to fly up to North Carolina to stay with Randy a few weeks, I told him I wasn't going to take my Baby Lock & worry about something happening to it. He said, "when you get here, we'll go to Walmart & get you something to use while you're here". We got me a Project Runway & I love it. I had a perfect setup in his travel trailer.

Thanks Marla:) My Brother machine is a monster of a machine, that has since bit the dust. I used this machine, my VQ3000 for many many years and millions of stitches, that the motherboard finally gave up the ghost. I mourn that machine, because I would have to say it was one of the best machines I've ever had. Someone DID say to try to get it fixed, but the repairs are too expensive. So far, I like the Jazz 11:)

Dear Jean, I loved the tour of your sewing rooms!❤ A quick question. Have you ever had the Juki Industrial sewing machine? I sewed Industrial many, many years ago, for many years on one. I then went in to do secretarial work, but after retirement, I bought a Juki Industrial. It's straight stitch only but will sew anything. I made many purses on it for a while. Love it. I have what I call my fancy stitch machine, also. As you know, we ladies need more than one, and they all have there job to do.😊 You have a wonderful display of fabrics, and your quilting talent is way beyond where mine is. I'm a newbie to quilting, and your videos are a treasure trove of experience for me to draw from. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us all, LC (or Elsie as some people call me!)
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory2 ай бұрын
I don't have any industrial machines, mainly because I have no space for one. But the Sailrite that I have has made many a sturdy bag, luggage really, that I use a lot:) Thanks for taking time to watch me LC (Elsie...what a sweet name! :)

Ian and your children enjoy your creations so much, they will do anything for you. My daughter started a new business, part of which is selling my creations. It's been a learning experience. Each Renaissance Faire, and craft fair has been so different. Each sale people couldn't get enough of 3-4 items. Luckily we had a lot of what people wanted. But, I have 1 large sale every year. It's a fundraiser for our local music boosters. I was an avid musician and have tutored many classmates and students as the years went on. I've had a neurological problem, and now I can't get my fingers to listen to what I'm telling them. Quite frustrating... but I can still sew and use my equipment, except for free motion quilting. Much like playing music on the piano or violin, my hands don't communicate with my head. But, I can watch a tutorial and make whatever catches my eye. I've yet to buy a pattern. Color and completing projects are very satisfying for me. Sewing truly is my therapy. I love color! I don't have nearly as much fabric as you, but I don't have a KZbin channel either. My daughter does have a budget for operating costs, so she can help there. I've been saving every scrap of fabric, and make all kinds of things. 😊❤ You are blessed to have your Ian. He adores you. ❤

Jean thank you so much for sharing you are AWESOME to listen to and watch. Did you make the boxes on the top shelf in your 2nd sewing room? If so is there a video?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory2 ай бұрын
Thanks Laura!! No, the 'cubes' on my top shelf were $5 ones from walmart (the fold out cardboard bottom ones). All I did however, is to spray glue a 10 inch square to the front of them, cut out where the tag was and personalize them that way. Cheap and cheerful:)

I like how you have redone your room I tried to find the ironing station on Overstock, but they didn't have any. I saw the Lori Holt zipper, are you going to make her zipper pouches, if so, please show how to do them. I was wondering why all the crayons. Have you seen where you can color on your fabric with the crayons? Take care, glad to see you both are feeling better.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory2 ай бұрын
Thank you Cindy:) I found one at: www.aosom.com/item/homcom-drop-leaf-ironing-board-with-shelves-and-storage-boxes-literary-print~831-091BU.html I haven't shopped with this company so don't know what to expect, but just FYI. I got the zippers at the last quilt show I went to. I will most certainly do a tutorial if and when I use them!! :) I HAVE seen the craft of coloring on fabric....I have enough crayons to go around!!! LOL!

While watching this video I spied in your Davis Road sewing room your family freeze that had been painstaking salvaged from your Charters Road home for you. Were they able to re salvage it for you from there? I still think,you could turn those cartoon clouds into cabbage roses with some wispy rose colours sprayed sparsely on the outer petals! 😂😂
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsforyАй бұрын
We still have our 4 seasons paining!! It is hanging on the underside of our porch! Our number 5 son, Eliot, salvaged it from our Charter Road house, then it hung in Davis Grove Road home, was in storage for a while and NOW it is back in our new home ~ on the porch soffit under the ceiling, safe from the elements:) Great idea for the cartoon clouds!! LOL!
