back in 96 RD got slept on and took so long to reach gold status, years later people went back and notice how great the album was!

true and what's crazy is I'm from Detroit and me and my homie listened to that tape front to back all day everyday in 96

+Ace Dinero I heard someone say few weeks ago that when RD drop in 96 only NY dudes was on it...see dudes outside NY was up on it too!!
@GTheGenius8 жыл бұрын
Reasonable Doubt was a underground album tbh. The first time I heard Jay-Z ever on I'll Be with Foxy Brown. I did go back & I fell in love with it.
@mikegillins49928 жыл бұрын
+Ace Dinero sometimes when albums get slept on its because of other great albums of that time...in 96 pac was so dominate at his peak with all eyes on me the first ever double cd in rap, and later 7 day theory, fugees had the score and nas it was written came out the month after RD and went platinum...so alot of times it depends on what is popping at that time!
@urbanflavorz8 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I say it all the time... but they were all Jay-Z fans back then let them tell it.. Fact is in 1996 it was so many established and great rappers it was no room for Jay-Z. Tupac and Biggie were still alive, Nas, Fugees, Outkast was on their second album, Tribe working on their last album, Busta was on fire... 1996 was just sick

TheChameleon2008 Of course not. It just seemed he did all research and had no authenitic info but he might be younger so I won't hold that against him. OVerall good interview. Biggs rarely does interviews. I'm just mad the interviewer really thought the skit with the lady was Real lol. That was clear as day a skit. He was almost trying to lead Biggs into saying it was real.

@Crates948 жыл бұрын
I think 1995 was the peak of rap civilization, not to say that it was the best year, but this was the year when lyrical and beat styles were perfected. It was also the last year of "diversity" in rap. After that, high percentage of rappers slowly started using the same styles and theme, homogenizing the game for a while. Strangely enough, that same time was also the dawn of a new age in basketball, when we started to see become more modern and flashy in playing style. Think Shammgod, and Iverson who would go on to change the look and style of the whole NBA.

Jay Z changed his style because of Nas. Jay had what's called the iggity style first. When Nas dropped Illmatic and came with the smooth talking to you style that's when Jay changed to that. That's why there's 2 versions of "In My Lifetime". A faster version with the iggity style and a smooth version after Nas dropped that sounds just like memory lane from illmatic
