We had tree collards years ago but prob not for at least 20 years. Unless you know someone who has them and they are willing to share a cutting with you they are kinda hard to find. In my search I stumbled upon Project Tree Collard. I purchased 3 purple tree collard cuttings from Project Tree Collard in May 2023. All three cuttings rooted really quickly, have grown substantially and we’ve harvested & eaten some already. I can’t say enough about how gorgeous they are. Delicious, too! Thank you for starting Project Tree Collard, making plants, cuttings & seeds available and for the content you put out! Awesome plants & great information you’re providing.

This video is right on time because the winds damaged one of my tree collards quite a bit, so now because of you I know a good way to prune it. Thank you so much! (Side note: all my tree collards came from seeds I bought from you back in 2020 and they are beautiful AND SO delicious!)

My container grown tree collards are doing well. We had a bit of a caterpillar episode, but other than a few eaten leaves all is well. we will see how they do in the Seattle winter.

Thank you for the helpful info ! I'm growing my first ever tree collards this year from seeds in Alamogordo , NM . They have survived the unusually hot summer , now hoping to survive the winter !

I imaging some will make it and others won't. Depends on how extreme the cold is this winter. Remember, you could also take cuttings as insurance if they are big enough yet.

@@projecttreecollard they just wither up and die. Last year I took cuttings before winter and those cuttings are growing very slowly in pots. I find that I absolutely must grow them in shade here and with lots of water. Still, I've been trying for years and have never gotten a lush, thick crop. In all that time I've harvested enough for a couple meals (for one.) I look at yours with deepest envy.

my purple and merritt are doing really well. i lost my giant green and white to harlequin bugs. the purple were hardly bothered by them. didn't have any of the bugs this year, may have to start the other two again. my ducks LOVE the tree collards.

Timely video! One of my three plants, all grown from your seed, is sooooo thiiiiic! Squat and bushy, many stems. I think it might be time to think about propagation. Another one is, apparently, a favorite of the dogs, and they keep heading it, lol.
