Seeing/experiencing the level of poverty in the Philippines is life changing. I thought I grew up poor until I went to the Philippines for the first time. Back story, I was born in Subic Bay. I have family in the Philippines; Pops was in the Navy, and he was a good ole' boy from Michigan. I left when I was five, grew up in the States and I do not remember much from the first five years. It is such a humbling experience to see people that are poor and destitute and take on life with a smile. If I had to use only one word to describe the Filipino people. The word would be, gracious. Now that I have buried both of my parents. I plan to retire at the age of fifty-seven to fifty-nine. That is roughly a ten-year journey for me right now. I should be retired in Leyte, and I am working/investing heavily in that goal. Finding sobriety has cemented my goals as well. May all that read this find peace, health and happiness. God Bless...

God bless YOU - you sound like a great person. My 2 call me 'Pops' - Papa is my title. I'm with you on sobriety - I think we all at some point, especially in America, go down the rabbit hole and use too much - then at some point, you just make a decision - enough! No more! So every day you just make a promise to yourself to abstain from alcohol or worse - you value your life, liver and pancreas more than a few hours of synthetic bliss. Your body is a temple. You have to respect that and live like that every day. I have PHI ties and hope to go there sooner than later. Watching these vids, learning the pros and cons and how to live 'smart' in the Philippines. All the best to you - Happy New Year and again, God Bless You!

You have pulled off the American dream, I moved to Calbayog City Philippines March of 2022 at the ripe age of 55. LOL I sold everything in my wood shop and construction remodel tools. Wasn't wealthy by any means but made 5-year plan before the move. Great Job on your retirement early and enjoy your life in the Philippines. Take care

Retiring earlier depends on a lot of things like what kind of job u have, how much money u have save for retirement, where to retire or even if u hate or really like job.U have to be able to afford retirement bc ur income really goes down once u stop working n even social security is not enough now.I retired earlier too n never regretted it bc I can afford it.

Hi Scott, I have to say you made many good and balanced decisions before and through Retirement. You did your planning well, not rushing the process allowing time for all considerations to be tested. In the words of the old Star Trek series I know you will "Live well and Prosper" because you put in the work and laid the foundation to arrive at this moment where you can leave your Career early enjoying your time with your family.

You are the one that decides when it's time. You worked hard all your life to make that decision to retire early-----------good job reaching that goal!!!! Now that you can afford to retire, it's time to work hard on your health which is never ending. Walking, eating correctly, losing access weight, not smoking, not drinking too much and staying active is the key to a better life as you get older in your retirement. I wanted to retire at 56 but retired at 60, paid off my house in the Philippines and have sufficient funds from my pensions, dividend income and SS to live a very comfortable life here in Cebu City and don't have any regrets on my decision looking back now that I retired almost 8 years ago. Spending more time with your family is PRICELESS. Again, great job on your ability to retire early, especially to the Philippines where the cost of living is so much better.

This is the decision everyone has to make. Although my son and I don’t have a great relationship and he struggles with my relationship it’s still hard to leave especially since my daughter and I do have a good relationship. If I stay here I’ll have to work much longer if I relocate I’ll retire 55-58 and enjoy a good retirement. At 50 that’s still a ways off so it’s time it plan and consider what to do. Thanks for sharing Scott and as always God bless you all.

You hit the nail on the spot. I am debt free with house in States and Philippines paid. We travel in our RV and take good vacation trips to Philippines. Only thing is my Wife Pinay will not retire to enjoy life. She is the only children out of 9 that makes any type of decent money. She sends money to supports her MOM. But her brother and sisters barrow money from Mom but never want to repay bad. So my Wife is supporting her whole Family. Sorry but had to get this off my chest. Hoping she will change for the better. We are coming in April for Mom birthday, hopefully she will change. I am having her watch this video if it does any good or not.

I just chanced upon your channel... are the white sand dune scenes in your video of White Sands, New Mexico? Are you originally from there? We do the Bataan Memorial Death March there at WSMR. I happen to be originally from the Philippines living in the US but with an intense interest in WW2/Bataan. Whenever we go home to visit family in the Philippines, I carve out a day or two exploring the obscure Bataan battlefields. I also do WW2 Bataan reenactment or living history events here in the US. Our non-profit org donate money to FAME (Fil-American Memorial Endowment) that tries to maintain the BDM roadside markers. Wife and I plan to split time between the Philippines and the US when we retire (which might be soon). Subscriving to your channel...
