I was born and raised in Spain. Three weeks ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Early last week she had surgery, spent 4 days at the hospital in a room all for her. Now she is at home recovering successfully, and tomorrow she will have a follow up to review what they found by analysing the tumor. All free, premium treatment, with no delays. I love Spain's healthcare, they are amazing.

The hatred towards Spain of the Hispanic Americans who live in the United States, in the rest of America, and even in Spain is incredible. They are always attacking Spain and insulting the country and the Spanish people. they write behind pseudonyms and express unwarranted rage. there are millions of Hispanic Americans living in Spain. The one thing, the most important thing to me at least, that I took away from this video was her saying that one day the wealth of countries will no longer be measured by how much material wealth countries have, but rather by the human values of the country and how well they take care of their people. I hope that will come true one day and if it does more than likely that attitude and approach to measuring true wealth will carry over to how each country treats others.

Come to Europe (Occidental majority) and you will start to view for yourself. You don´t need wait to that future. But maybe in USA yes. Money culture VS Wellness culture. Anyways any European country is not much poorer than any USA State in reality (because each European country in general is, in size, more or less like a USA State, even many of them much smaller). For example, if Spain (because is the country mentioned in this video) was inside the USA, in the present day it would be the State 4º with the most PIB of the country easily, maybe even more in the future. That is, one of the economic locomotives of the USA. With all this I want to say, that it´s not neccessary to must to sacrifice the economy of one country for to achieve a great degree of social welfare. Just knowing how to manage wealth well and balance it correctly, first of all being very clear about what you want to achieve and how to carry it out. A plan after all and political will. But if the country is entirely kidnapped by the corporations, then is normal that country is designed only for to make money and the people is only a simple number, money machines or livestock for them and everyday is worst even because the people get used to it over time and only think inside of this and believe that the rest of the world is the same. But not. Regards.

@@salvador9369 well said. I would like to clarify my situation. I’m a U.S. immigrant for 2 years now and I’ve been traveling and living in Latin America. For me at least in many ways it’s far superior to the USA and I never intend to live in the states again. I’m retired and have limited income and therefore don’t meet the financial standards of Western European countries to get a residency, but I do here in most of Latin America, so here is where I will put my roots. I don’t think I’ll live long enough to see the USA change to a degree enough that I would want to live there again. Take care.

I live in a small town in Sweden, the area is beautiful anyway with 2 large lakes and a national park nearby, so that in itself promotes being healthy and walking, but in the park we have a full outdoor gym too with rowing machines, step machines, exercise bikes. People use these facilities. They are kept clean, well maintained and I think in general Swedes respect public property and have a sense of responsibility to make sure public areas are fit for everyone to use. You do not see much litter here, and if someone drops something and does not pick it up chances are someone else will stop them and tell them to pick it up.

As in we invented flight but the most famous European inventor focused on drawing pictures or sculpting naked dudes. In Spain we have better healthcare, cheaper education, better public transport and less crime, but some of these things arent necesarily linked witho with being a wealthy country: China has great healthcare and is way poorer than the U.S., all of eastern europe is very safe while they are poorer than the rest of europe and education is much cheaper but the universities are MUCH better in the U.S. You cant say that spain is richer than the U.S when the average salary here is 6-7$ per hour (U.S. is 19$ per hour I think not sure), Unemployment is 12% ( U.S. is 4.1%), we have more homeless people living without a house or in slums like La Cañada Real, we have some of the fastest incresing rent prices in europe especially Madrid, we have more corruption and the economy in general is very unstable and hasnt recovered back to pre-2008 levels. Notice how almost none of the americans in Spain ACTUALLY work in Spain? Thats because they have an online job back in the U.S. so they can have a U.S. salary with Spain´s cheaper cost of living and dont have to deal with the shitty job market here. But when spanish people go to the U.S. they work IN the U.S. with U.S salary. I dont want this comment to sound like im bitching about living in Spain because I love this country and im very grateful for the opportunities that it has provided me with but it is not richer than the U.S.. source: www.developmentaid.org/news-stream/post/157797/homelessness-statistics-in-the-world

GDP per capita numbers matter to a degree, you need a reasonable amount of wealth for a good living, but in the case of the US, it all seems to revolve around the GDP numbers and not on the quality of that life, which you can be in an eastern EU country, which have a lower GDP per capita then the US and have a higher quality of life because of where the wealth is being used, as well as the balance in the system is a lot better, and we should remember that eastern EU countries are poorer than western EU countries, but you wouldn't think so when it comes to overall quality of life. The US has a high GDP per capita but a poor quality of life, especially for the lower to middle classes, and things only change on the upper middle classes, but even then, it still doesn't match Europe when it comes to safety, food standards and many other things. It's been said that the US is a first, second and third world country all rolled into one, when looking at it up close, it does look that way and that isn't normal for what is supposed to be a developed country and it also explains a lot of the issues the US faces, which seem to be getting worse with each passing year, especially with the political and public divide that is not doing the well-being of the country any favours. Now don't get me wrong, Europe isn't a paradise, we have our own issues and we love to complain about them, but in comparison to the US, our issues seem tame in comparison.

I've been living in Spain for close to 38 years now, so it was easy to see a few mistakes in her narrative, even though she's generally right in overall terms. First of all, there are some (glaring) exceptions to the universality of health care here. First of all, dental and optical care involving any kind of prosthetic devices (including braces, eyeglasses, etc.) are excluded. This extends to other orthopedic and prosthetic devices & equipment, which are not covered by the Social Security system, and if they are, they're the "one size fits all" bare-minimums kind. My eldest daughter lost both her legs to a terrible disease when she was an infant, and although we never paid a cent for her hospitalization and in-hospital care & treatment (she spent close to 6 months during her first hospital stay, and was admitted multiple times during her childhood), we did have to pay over €8,000 for an "Ortho-Fix" bone-lengthening device EVERY YEAR until she stopped growing, and her advanced prostheses represented a huge out-of-pocket expense because the "free" alternative was little more than a glorified peg-leg. She is now an adult, and her electric wheelchair, which is absolutely necessary for her to have any kind of mobility, is also NOT COVERED (she's been through 4 or 5, the last one cost us close to €10,000). Later on in the video she states that Gaudi's Sagrada Familia has been under construction for like 300 years, when construction of the temple actually started in the late 19th century. Work on the church stopped when private funding ran dry during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) and continued only intermittently for the rest of the 20th century. As for her comments relating to culture, I was raised in the Washington, D.C. area and remember visiting the Smithsonian, National Art Gallery and other museums for free throughout my childhood and into early adulthood, while ever since I moved to Spain, I have never NOT paid to enter a museum and/or major tourist attraction. A basic ticket to visit the interior of the Sagrada Familia currently costs €26, but doesn't include going up one of its towers to enjoy the spectacular views from up top (the ticket that includes the tower visit costs €36 per person). I've been to most museums in Barcelona (Picasso, Caixaforum, Cosmocaixa, MNAC, MACBA, CCCB, Maritime Museum, Montjuïch Castle, etc.), the Dalí museum in Figueres, and several museums in Madrid (Prado, Reina Sofía...) and none of them are free of charge (except special occasions or circumstances: e.g. Caixaforum and Cosmocaixa, I think CaixaBank customers are allowed free entry, and some museums offer free entrance on Sunday afternoons). I think there's also one day a year you can visit any city museum for free.

I think we should all be more impartial and not say that good is worse than it is, or say that bad is good. We regret that things happened like this, but it would also be correct to say it in another way and that is that you will always have dental and optical assistance when it is a serious problem for your health. Let's talk about what a good insurance in the USA costs monthly? Or how much does it cost to just have a baby? Let's talk about when a misfortune really happens and it turns out that it only covers you up to a certain amount. There is nothing perfect that is clear, but there are things better than others. Well seen in that negativity, they have "free" museums there, although perhaps they already pay for it in other concepts and in Spain we have free medical care, paid for by all Spaniards. Un saludo.

US and Spain has two absolutely different lifestyles. I don't think most Americans would accept the rules we have here, as a cultural fact. And of course most Spaniards would not be happy with the American lifestyle. Therefore, I don´t think this debate makes sense. Would Americans agree to pay more taxes to obtain quality healthcare, public education, public transport, etc? Would they abandon the city design where you have to use the car for everything?, Would they agree to hand over all their weapons? I don't think so. Finally, Spain is not a paradise now either and a significant percentage of our very high taxes is wasted in a very irritable way. We have our own problems that would horrify more than one. Antonetta always presents an idyllic country and never talks about the problems we have. We have better things and worse things than in the United States. It is possibly true that we live much more relaxed than Americans, because we give less importance to personal success. Many Spaniards work to live, they do not live to work. We are less individualistic and give more importance to social life and human relationships. However, although our country is very beautiful in many aspects, the biggest problem that Spain has is that part of its population absurdly despises their own country. We suffer from internal nationalisms that destroy our coexistence and our prosperity, and it is destroying our empathy and our tendency to enjoy sociability and cultural diversity.

Hello, I am Spanish, and I can corroborate everything that she has said is true, but it would be a cynic who thinks that there are no counterparts. She tells it better in one of her latest videos, I can summarize it in a single point here you will never be a millionaire, it is the price to pay for a relaxed and satisfying life, and I am not saying that there are no millionaires here, Some of the great fortunes of the world are Spanish. What really worries me is that in the last year the number of Americans who emigrated to my country and stayed to live has doubled or something more. Spain is a very small country, only 5% of the US, and the balance of that well-being that she mentions is possible due to the small number of people that we are. Don't get me wrong, you will always be welcome, but better if you settle things there.🤷‍♂

There's lack of workers and nurses, the IT system collapses often, and Goverment provides no enough resources. So no, not everyhing is gold here. Let's talk Education. IT'S TRASH. I'm a teacher and the level of knownledge my students come from is far from being regular. It's totally focused on socio-political differences, and subjects like Math or Science are almost imposed by will "BECAUSE I SAY SO" or by "I WAS TOLD THAT WAY" instead of encouraging students to search and learn the facts for themselves. Most entrepreneus were self-learning type, as I've been... Homelessness? I can't talk of your place, but Barcelona is currently widely known to feature hundreds of homeless merchants that camp freely the surrounds of the metro stations or any park. I'm not joking, stay away from the center of the cities or any other popular monuments area, or you'll be scammed and/or robbed. Last time I was in Spain, in 2011 there were so many aggressive homeless Arabs and Afros who would sell 50cent beers out of plastic bags, then try to sell you "weed, hash, coke" and then try to rob you if you didn't want any of it. We had to jump 2 Arabs pretty good when one tried to steal some jewelry. When they were unconscious and leaking on the ground I sensed all the local quietly thanking us. As a employed in the national healthcare spanish system, the main problem is that as healthcare is universal there's lot of people trying to travel here to abuse the system getting highly expensive treatments. And they're not to blame but our government who let people abuse the system and that's a way that will have a harsh ending for us all as it is unsustainable. We Spanish, pay high taxes to have healthcare but the country struggles to create jobs and as for that, the problem.is that you cannot treat everyone specially those who never contributed to the system. It's hard because you don't want to leave anyone without healthcare but it is a problem that we have to.solve before the whole system falls apart. So healthcare it's not "free". As for mass shootings, we of course don't have that but we got s terrorist group that killed hundreds of people for years, then they out their weapons apart and tried and pushed their political agenda in the common politics in Spain, they even reach to the parliament. And the biggest problem of all is the lack of jobs and the problems the government created to entrepreneurs. So yes, Spain is a nice country to live, but there's problems too that we have to face. In Spain someone can come into your house when you're not there, change the locks and live there and you can't throw them out, the government will defend the home invader. If a thieve comes in your house and rapes your wife and you hurt them with "excesive" force you may go to jail, if you kill him then you definitely go to jail. Also, Spanish public education (school not university) is really bad and ofcourse there are school districts (they dont work in exactly the same way but similar). If you want to send your kids to a private school then yeah, send them to whichever you want, but if they go to a public one then they go to the one that they were assigned to go to, just like the US. When it comes to the homeless situation, yeah Spain is in a bit of a better situation than the US, but still, bare in mind Spain is the size of a US state and it's the blue states that are in the worse position when it comes to homelessness and no one in Spain (not even the most extreme left winger) is as crazy as American democrats. Her accent confuses me a lot. She's talking from an American point of view but her english doesn't sound even close to native. IDK, the whole video felt weird to me.

Not in the past! In the past, the Americas had a lot of gold, which Spain stole, then the funny thing was, their wars caused them to be bankrupt. I think the Dutch could take some credit for that, and Spain lost their status of ''global'' hegemony. Another funny thing is, that's a good thing. The global hegemony, or superpower, always seems to care the least (or among the least) about its population. Everything is always about preserving their way of life, while that way of life deteriorates since they don't adopt new things (clinging on to ''their'' ways and believing that's the only way) how many times has the US compared the EU to socialism, or communism, or whatever bullshit, just to ''preserve their ways''. It is true though, superpowers stop inventing and start digging in, with the cost of that on their citizens. This is a legit pattern that is always true, we've seen this, we will see this and nothing will change. The best thing is, just live in.. another country? Former hegemonies are fine once they're over their golden age. They will reinvent, care about their citizens, and actually, don't focus on stupid neo-colonist bullshit, like wars in faraway regions or whatever random illegal stuff. Just enjoy your time in a good country. Even Spain, with their atrocities (sorry dutchie here, there is still some.. history) is a fine country now.

Spanish atrocidades? You may talk about spanish inquisition, but spanish inquisition killed in 300 years, less than dutch inquisition ( yes there was dutch inquisition) in 100 years. You swallow the called black legend invented by William of Orange with the support of the british.

@@jesusperezvigil4824 I wasn't even speaking about the Spanish inquisition, literally, you forgot anything on the American continent?? By the way, yes the inquisition in the Netherlands was a thing. It was during the reign of Charles V, and was widely believed to be an effort to introduce the Spanish Inquisition in the Netherlands. The Netherlands would have none of this since it was mostly protestant (but most of all, wanted to be tolerant and offer lots of different faiths, a safe haven) But most importantly, every source and every fact shows that this was an effort by the throne of Spain, to expand their inquisition to the Netherlands to show those ''heathens'' to turn back to catholicism. It's fascinating how you have basically ruined your own argument, by the way. You know nothing of William. You even call back to the wrong William, the one that became king of Scotland & England was William 3. William of Orange however was the leader of the revolution, of German descent and ruling from his (awesome) fortress of Dillenburg, during which he also gained the principality of Orange, thus being, William of Orange. Please refrain from arguing if you don't even get the basics right.

@@letheas6175 No, my friend, you are wrong. During 30 years war the Netherlands killed 25witches, Spain 23. I mean the right William, Willem van Oranje- Nassau. Of course that idea of spaniards as nasty killers is widely diseminares,BECAUSE THE BLACK LEGEND created by the netherlands and the british. Just one idea compare people living in USA ( mostly white people), and people living in Spanish America mostly crossbed.

@@jesusperezvigil4824 So your argument for.. my point that Spain committed atrocities, killing millions of people is.. The Netherlands killing witches with only 2 more than spain? Really? I hope you didn't learn this kind of arguing skills in school. Otherwise, I would rank Spain even below the US. Honestly, you can't be serious right? Come up with some better arguments. This is humiliating, I don't like to argue with someone that humiliates him/herself.

Well, The Netherlands is a fine country now but not in the past. All those atrocities, the slavery, robbery, piracy, "millions" killed. They even had a company for that. Whatever country I think, the same argument comes to my mind so I have to conclude that's an empty argument. Wherever, "Americas HAD a lot gold but Spain stolen it", "a bunch Spaniards killing millions", man that's how your country teach as history? what a deception! (well, not really a deception. Dutch's superiority complex is well known on this latitude)
