The reason they aren't improving, is simply because you haven't mastered the side kick yet. THE SIDE KICK IS BEST KICK. OUT OF AN INFINITE NUMBER OF KICKS, THE SIDE KICK IS THE BEST. Also, when nat said you aren't taking feedback into consideration, he is right, take my feedback and master the side kick

A better guy in the gym just said keep going with your combo... That's all I needed to hear.. And being willing to say to someone, I'm struggling with xyz...

@user-uf6fs2rn6s
@user-uf6fs2rn6s 10 ай бұрын
Not a karate guy (muay thai), but a heavy bag is a classic tool used in all striking combat sports to improve power, stamina and footwork. Although it can not replace actual sparring it can help you become a better fighter (provided you do not pick up bad habits from it). Provided you do actual sparring may I personally recommend a double end bag you can not hit it as hard but you develop defence timing,, stamina plus it is easier to set up in a home gym, cheaper and can easily be taken down then set up later

I must say though fella. As someone who has done a full-time job and managed to find time to get marital arts slotted in. It's very hard to those who work demanding jobs or two jobs or worse do things for stress relief like drinking or smoking. These all make inconsistencies in training. Thus, its a bit easier when your professional or manage to make time. But I certainly wouldn't give up on it.

@Armissimo
@Armissimo 11 ай бұрын
You can improve your kicks at home, just remember to stretch daily & try to get yourself more flexible, you can do butterfly stretch, half split, kossack squat, and if you got to a degree where you feel confident you can go with the splits. Also, if you want to train stability & control, holding kicks position is a good option, for example side kick hold. It develops good control. You can be a martial artist at home, but for best results, i still recommend you to try finding a dojo/dojang/gym with a coach so your coach can fix your technique & make you a better martial artist :)
@figurebetes7843
@figurebetes7843 11 ай бұрын
When it comes to KICK, you can improve and get good at kicks. But if you want to be considered a msrtial artist, you have to train other parts of your art like kata or taegeok. Also, sparring is the most important because you need to be able to use your skills...if you cant, your not that different from other people. Thatd just my opinion but good luck in your training!

@@helenabrooks384 tbh I'm just trying to actually fight hard hapkido is kind of an introduction to basics like kicking and punching and etc. It helped me in Muay Thai alot considering that it helped me learned how to do a round house correctly. Kyokushin is for conditioning and some of karate only kicks. Muay Thai is for striking, elbows and knees and learning how to box. Hapkido for their judolike throws(teacher leans into more judo fundamentals) and also for tkd kicks. This is kinda like building a sort of fighting stuff. So u know

@isitchillyinahut5921 Gotcha. If you're training pretty hard it's probably better to ease off and not do 6 days of hard training because your body wouldn't get as much rest and you wouldn't see improvement as quickly. That being said, if you did like, 3 hard days and 3 lighter days then it would be better for your body and your "gains".

Also Genetics, genetics, genetics haha. Look at Nat, he looks like a super model plus he can kick your head in. It really sucks but genes are a big factor in life that I finally realized now.

well sure, not everyone is a natural athlete. But don't use this as a cope. Martial arts don't come as naturally to some as it does for others. But that's fine, if you are one of those people who it doesn't come naturally too, you can still learn. But also, maybe you aren't doing the right martial art for you. Find a style that you feel most comfortable with and even one that plays to your strengths and mitigates your weaknesses. You may not get as good as Nat ever, but that's a really high bar. He's a gold medalist and he's only like 21 with 17 years of martial arts experience already. When I say "you" by the way, I'm not necessarily talking about you, but in a general sense.

It does play a role, but it’s not a limiter either, I was actually very unflexible naturally and it took me a couple of years to stretch out to my current flexibility, just takes lots of hard work👊but you can definitely do it

@@nathearn Oh nice nice. I’m an mma guy personally but since I was like 13-14 I’ve always had an obsession with pencak silat and was thinking of joining the one in London, just to broaden my horizon.

@EggEnjoyer
@EggEnjoyer 11 ай бұрын
Realistically, no. Technically yes, you can self learn anything. You could self teach open heart surgery. But what are the odds of a decent surgeon coming from a self taught background? Same goes for martial arts, you’re gonna need the gym. You need the coaches guidance and you need to practice with other people. That being said, a lot of progress can be done alone. Shadow boxing, hitting the bag and practicing form. In fact the best athletes do a large chunk of their training alone, because it’s the people who shadow box and hit the bag after the gym who excel. But to learn a martial art entirely outside of a gym? Not really advisable to be honest.
