"I hate that companies are using their weight in order to get regulations that benefit them and take technologies out of the hands of regular people" "I love capitalism" We live in such a fucking ideologically confused society. Love what the guy is doing, and I think he has a great mentality behind it. It's just a weird hyperreality induced juxtaposition.
@sparkzy31362 жыл бұрын
His issue is the companies bribing people to make their own Regulations as he says in his orgininal quote. Companies bribing polititians to create red tape to stiff competition is the complete opposite of free market capitalism. His views are not conflicting
@juliahello6673 Жыл бұрын
He's saying that these technologies shouldn't be monopolized by one or a few companies. This is part of capitalism - to avoid monopolies because it stifles innovation. What IS ideologically confused is to think that capitalism means "big companies bad". Big companies are fine unless they are monopolies or semi-monopolies. People who think everything big or powerful or rich is bad are ideologues. It's a primitive fear instinct that is strong enough so that it turned into an ideology.

Very concerning video, how can you trust any unregulated individual or group to adhere to safety guidelines which are designed to prevent disasters like the development of organisms/ animals that might pose significant risk to public health or environment? And why is it that these individuals make it seem impossible to conduct research under a regulated organisation? If you have a novel idea for research it's not impossible to do so unless ethical committees deem it unethical. Eg if you want to help cure disease in dogs or especially cancer and you can show you are qualified to do so responsibly it shouldn't be an issue. But if you want to make dogs or cats glow for the fun of it because you want a glowing cat at whatever expense to animal well being, you shouldn't be able to do that. The 'I want it now but mum and dad won't let me have it' argument doesn't fly here and it all seems really reckless.

This video resonated with me in a very profound way. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disorder. I was told that identifying and 'fixing' the damaged gene is relatively easy and inexpensive. The issues are: 1. The Australian medical system is set up to fork out millions of dollars in palliative care but apparently isn't set up for personalised gene treatment outside of the meagre amount if trials on offer which is zero for mitochondrial disease. 2. I was told by a public hospital endocrinologist that I could have my mitochondrial genome sequenced if I was a child but (direct quote) "as an adult we won't be wasting those resources on you". I was told that I might live for a few years yet and that I would be contacted if I wasn't too sick (or dead) if/when they come up with something. There are many hundreds of ud dying in paun, knowing thatthere will be no cure for us because the medical establishmen hasn't figured out how to exploit us for enough financial gain to make it worth their while. When I remind doctors that I'm dying anyway I generally have recieved a speech/lecture on ethics, rules and the fact that they know more about everything than any patient. It sucks when a life is worth less than the cost of a crispr kit. I wrote this without rereading/editing it. I hope it makes sense. Thank you for posting your video.

Seems to me this is a three sided issue. There is the good many would like to do with this kind of thing. There is the effort of the government to strangle innovation so they can control the gateways of competition for those who pay them to do so. Then there is what actually happens with so many people playing around with something that could be this dangerous. The best solution lays somewhere between those. Both the potential for good and the potential for disaster are tremendous here.

@naejimba4 жыл бұрын
Muscle growth I was thinking about... Belgian blue cows lack the GFD-8 Gene, meaning they lack myostatin that limits muscle growth. It can occur in other animals and humans... look at the first condition listed on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laSxmmttnqt5atE There are two specific conditions that cause this effect in humans; one that harms individuals and another without seemingly any downside. If the genes responsible could be isolated, this is a very real possibility. Medical testing tends to be done on mice due to the similarities to humans... a first step would be to run illegal tests on laboratory mice, and then move to a human. As for high testosterone, there are downsides to going too high... at any rate, it is possible to get injections from a medical professional if your testosterone is on the lower side. With height, and much of the benefits I'm assuming you would want from higher testosterone (I'll just say it, penis size, everyone is thinking it) would have to occur during development and puberty. That much cannot be done... but the rapid muscle growth without needing to exercise is a VERY real possibility. Imagine the money that could be made... a black market version of the super soldier serum from the Captain America movie, going to the highest bidder. How delightful...
@naejimba4 жыл бұрын
Ah... apparently they have found a way to do it in mice... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF6XaYWMltaNmc0 Lee Sweeney apparently published a paper in 1998 in which they used gene therapy to put an extra copy of IGF1 into muscle cells of mice. A word of caution though... apparently when trying human tests someone died. XD

Amonra Elias I'm an autodidact myself dude, you're not imparting some nugget of wisdom here lol. But there's a reason why the medical sciences specifically have certifications, pre-requisite knowledge base and standards, etc. Some how I don't think these guys fit that mold... regardless, I was more making a statement about the quality of the video. I see a lot from these guys, where they make grandiose claims that sound cool, but if you really pay attention there is NO evidence for it (in the video). *shrug

The Merovingian shrug I share only my perspective not wisdom or nuggets lol. However do some studying on current world events and how people of power are controlling more then $ but knowlgae and ability to care for our self s. Big brother or whatever one wants to call it wants people to be co-dependent on every level. Whooping cough was cured by women that were told they were just going to make it worse.
